I thought there was some database/HIVE issue where it doesn't properly save for 20/30mins. A bad server restart will also cause tents to disappear or not reload gear. A second restart usually fixes it.

Yeah, in a night's worth of looting I'll always find at least a handful of those. I have nearly always found a DMR/AS50 at HCS and numerous ghillies and NVGs etc. If you hit up every spawn then you will accumulate quite easily. And yeah, duplicating happens everywhere and I always find a tent city filled with rare weapons, but that's just due to a game bug with saving. It's not fixed right now and who knows if it ever will be: that is where the problem lies.

It's incredibly easy to find rare weapons if you raid the barracks and heli crash sites. I always find a AS50/DMR/L85 as well as a crapload of M4 variants. I don't see why people have trouble getting them, the majority of players get them from either looting or killing other players for them. Hackers use non-DayZ weapons like thermal AS50s. They do definitely need to add batteries to night vision, electronic scopes, etc and make them rare/hard to find to balance the availability out. Also: add thermal insulation to a form of clothing to counter Thermal Vision as so many people complain about it. Duping will eventually be fixed (maybe), but it won't stop the groups who will just raid every server, hopping around and stockpiling.

It's a survival simulator. It's Day Z, the time post-apocalypse, and is more about people trying to survive, and their interactions with others and the environment. The catalyst for the whole game world is the outbreak of something that led to the creation of zombies. The zombies are always there, but they take a background to the main events. Whether they walk, run or fly, who cares, they are just a part of the reason the whole game world exists, the rest is about survival, not killing zombies. If they were to become any more important, this would become a regular shoot-em-up zombie game. How boring.

Deer Stands. Found so many AKMs, AK74/U, plenty of mags, a whole host of supplies and occasional backpack. Best place for finding an Alice Pack is supermarkets. I've found one every time I've entered one. NW Airfield is a goldmine if you're on a low pop server, otherwise expect to be sniped. I loved my M16 until someone sniped me - after I had saved him from a whole horde of zeds. Only downside to having lots of gear: everyone else wants to kill you for it. Definitely hit up some barns for a Lee Einfield or Hunting Shotgun, usually some slug rounds too. Occasionally a CZ 550 scoped rifle. The AKM or AK74 is your ideal low-tear, easy to get ammo/weapon to start with so good luck :D

I agree. The further along the decomposition timeline, the slower they get. Just remember Rule #1 CARDIO :)

I guess even in the apocalypse, illegal parking is still illegal parking. Check your local impound lot.
