Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
Crowding replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
If only you could actually remove the barbed wire. Most of the time it glitches out and you can't remove it. Besides, clusters of barbed wire cause artifacts, and also seem to cause a lot of fps drops. EDIT: I vote for removal until at least the artifacts are fixed. I agree that they are a part of the game, and they should be present. I don't enjoy using them myself, but they shouldn't be removed altogether just because a handful of people get annoyed by it. -

Found a hacker, quit the game. Joined a new server stuck in the ground with unlimited ammo at "airfield"?
Crowding replied to Twizz's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Just go on a busy server and alttab out and someone will probably shoot you. -
Ok. Stream down btw. Gotta get around covering the names etc. Thanks for your input Authentic92

Please use a smaller scale picture, thank you.

Streaming DayZ with 2 others right now. Tune in, I'm reading the chat so I'll respond. About 5 seconds delay. Didn't get you to watch yet? We have a scot, and he talks. http://www.twitch.tv/cr0wding

It just wasn't nice of me to try and drive him over even though I already stole everything he had, including his bus. But yes, I should've tea-bagged him. What pleased me most was that he never respawned. He left the server and probably called it a night after this happened. I bet he has to put his keyboard back together as well. I do appreciate your opinions, and if I find the lad again, I'll make sure I'll drive the bus over his face.

I would like to apologize to the guy that I killed north of Zelenogorsk. I saw the bus and really wanted it, and after realizing you weren't dead - just knocked out - I did indeed try to run you over. But that's really no reason at all to alt-f4 out. However, it was very kind of you to log back in so I could shoot you in the head. Like a real gentleman. If you want, I will give you the shotgun I killed you with when you respawn. Just because I don't want you to die again. Regards, Crowding

I am not saying his actions should be without consequence, I'm saying the reactions in the thread (especially first page) are not the nicest of the lot. You and some others are responding to me, discussing it. The others just gave him shit.
-
Don't think that will happen. As he said, he just wants to play the game. Either way, my posts aren't about him hacking anymore, it's about the reactions to his confession and question. During this alpha, and this growth, this community becomes what it will later be. If everyone keeps behaving like this it won't be a nice community. He did something, confessed it, asked for help, and you let him down. Do you know how your prison and rehabilitation system works? Not like that. Just because he did something wrong, doesn't mean he's a douchebag out there to ruin your fun.
-
Not really what I meant. I merely used it as an example. My point was that you don't know what he did, and therefore you shouldn't punish him. He came here for help after he did something wrong. By the looks of this thread you lot would hang a convict no matter what it was he did. Not every hacker is the same. And as he posted above, he got himself an m4 and killed zombies. Yes, he hacked. Yes, he deserves his ban. No, it did not affect your experience. Yes, he deserves a second chance. Everyone deserves a second chance. Especially in a video game. Now, if he'd do it again, that'd be different. He didn't ask for an unban, he asked if he was able to play again with a new copy.
-
AntiCheat matters may ban over IP, but it's no use. AFAIK all IP addresses can be either changed or spoofed. 99% of the time they ban the CD Key, just so you can in fact get a new game if you want. More money for them anyway, and they'll catch you again anyway. @Whoever said it's different from a single player game: Depends on what he hacked. If he hacked a tank in and fucked everyone up, sure; if he spawned in 5 cans of beans for himself, not really. Don't think he'll buy the game over and over. The fact that he had the balls to come over here and be honest, said that he didn't kill anyone (so basically didn't affect anyones experience), shows me he's probably a nice guy. And yes, you are right, respect needs to be earned, but you have to give someone the chance to show you that. If I post something and 10 people shit on me, I'm probably not gonna come on this forum to help anyone out ever again. It's not about him, it's about everyone.
-
Tell me how he as influenced the community? You don't even know what he did with his hack. Maybe he spawned beans on himself. Damn that must've hurt your experience ingame. As he said above he didn't kill anyone, you don't believe him because he hacked? And even so, didn't your parents teach you to be the bigger man? Don't step down to someone elses level, try to get his up. If you help him out and he legitimately wants to play normally, then you will gain one nice community member, because you nicely assisted him. If you attack him for this, he may just become one of the many assholes you find online. Forgive, but don't forget.

Gotta edit your registry. Of course you don't have to back up the key, since you won't be using it anymore. @People above: People hack because they cba playing it normally. Don't tell me you never cheated on old gameboy games etc. with those cheatcodes. Just because he hacked, doesn't mean he nuked everybody or aimbotted, could be just some weapon spawning. Not saying it's a good thing, but reacting like that after he said he learnt his lesson you can be the adult and just help the guy out. You are the community, so why don't you try and make sure it'll be a nice one. EDIT: The reason buying it again didn't work is because they already installed the game, and that CD key was still in the registry. So either buy it again and reinstall completely (from the new steam account) or buy it again and edit the new key in.
