There is no hand holding in this idea. The concept is to have an option to quickly convey that you are friendly and don't NEED/WANT to shoot them. This is a military game after all and their was no mechanic in place to say "Hey, I'm friendly." This game definately needs a mechanic that will quickly show this. A ceasefire is a good way to do it if both people agree. The other person wouldn't even need to respond and that would actually give them the upper hand just like every bandit already has against a friendly person.

The Walking Dead is based off a comic book. There isn't much realism in the series. Also, Rocket stated that he isn't going for realism but rather an authentic gaming experience. I think your idea is authentic to the gaming experience. Also, to use The Walking Dead against your argument, what about Michonne!

I like the idea and I've seen the concept a few times before. It would help with trading, teaming up, talking about intel, etc. It doesn't really stop bandits at all but it helps people who want to meet others so I think it is a good idea.

The statistics show that it is not really 1/10,000,000. Someone trained in firing a gun is much more lethal than someone who is untrained. I am willing to bet that most of the gun shot wounds obtained in the US are by people who don't really know how to shoot a gun. It's an interesting balance. This game doesn't take grazing bullets or flesh only wounds into account. In ARMA I've killed people instantly just by shooting them in various spots of the leg. A simple damage change wasn't a good idea but it is probably preparing people for a much more realistic damage system in ARMA III. It won't be as easy. This is preparing the DAYZ community + ARMA!

Why do you need to trust anyone? Play with people you already know. It is a dangerous world to meet new people. It only happens in intense situations. Don't try to force it. That is when people get nervous and start shooting. Save ammo. Be evasive. Warn them you will shoot before you do if anything. They might run off.

I honestly never bought Heinz beans before this game. I never tried them but I finally did and they were pretty good if you like beans in a plain tomato sauce. As for coke and pepsi? Anyone who is trains in cardio probably should stay away from soda.

Yeah you can do it. All you have to do is extract the PBO files, edit them and then compress them back into PBO format. I haven't tried it and I am not sure if that will get you banned via Battleeye or whatever. Can someone tell me if it would? The reason why these server settings exist is to help train new players. There is a lot to grasp in ARMA for a new player. These settings are training wheels. You don't become dependent on them. I know this for a fact because I am a seasoned player in these games from BI. If DayZ wants to be successful then it will keep all the settings as options for the server owners. The only way I could see them getting rid of these settings would require a MASSIVE overhaul which would take much longer than 6 months (Did you forget they want to release the standalone before Christmas 2012?) It could be a common way of transporting goods without dealing with parts or fuel. It would be dangerous but useful. You could abandon the cart if you need to. It could double as cover! But yeah, realistically with the current community it would either be used as: 1. A trap placed by bandits to attract clueless survivors 2. A more versatile storage unit similar to a tent.

You are SO clueless it's hilarious. He owns a server... A CENSORED comes onto his server that teleports everyone to him and starts killing everyone... The OP who owns the server CANNOT ban the CENSORED CENSORED that is ruining his server with cheats. YES, The issue of hackers has been in EVERY GAME... but this is the CENSORED first time EVER in a game where people PAY REAL LIFE MONEY for a DEDICATED SERVER where they actually have NO SAY in what happens. It's CENSORED bogus that because the server renter is trying to remove an obvious hacker from his server he loses his priviledges. It has the look of the Devs siding with exploiters/hackers, instead of the people running this game. You don't understand, he can't even kick and ban... lol. He literally pays $40 a month.. to sit in his server and be slain by some CENSORED who paid $10 for a hack. The guy who paid $10 elimates days/weeks amount of work for 30+ players in a matter of minutes and the server owner can't do CENSORED about it because if he bans the hacker, all the hacker has to do is make a "SERVER #BLA ADMINS ARE ABUSING POWER!!!!! WAAAAHHH" thread on the forums and the devs blacklist it. MY guess is that you got in trouble for swearing so much and being aggressive.

Your OP is bias because I don't see any box to check off where all settings will stay in the current format and it will be up to the server owners to decide. By adding/removing options you are taking the power from server owners (which is an important issue!) and putting in the hands of the developers. Your post assumes that the developers will do this. We have no idea if they will. You should have two options that show this. Does keeping all the options mean that the developers will enforce all those options across all the servers? Your poll doesn't say. Just saying "It might happen" isn't really enough. Having the options will show the developers if the community/server owners think it should happen!
