I agree. I would like to see the suppressors to be used to prevent near by zombies from hearing you rather than making you covert from players. Don't want to see any hollywood silencers that sound like a baby's fart.
-
Don't they have full bodied silencers that produce that chip sound? I forgot what they call them but I have seen them on that show Sons of Guns. Of course putting something on the muzzle won't drastically reduce the sound but it will reduce it by a little!
-
Cool! I hope this thread could provide some community input as to what the "improvised silencer" should be in the game. I searched on these forum and have not seen the post. I am making this on these specific forum to provide the current community to have a current thread that might be of aid to the developers.

I like all your ideas so far. First, the current silencers should work. That is priority over this idea for sure. Second, yes, these silencers shouldn't be too effective. They should just be good enough to prevent zombies within 10-20 meters from hearing your shot. The prime purpose of these silencers should be to prevent hordes from occurring during a looting raid. If a player shows up...well perhaps they could be detrimental. There should be balance here so they are not too over powered. A lifetime to the silencers is a good idea too. Crafting should have to occur regularly like eating food. That is why we loot! I will add all your ideas to the original post shortly.

I have only seen the silencer on the M4 but this is only my experience and not limited to what actually applies in game. I think it might be unrealistic for the silencer that works for one caliber to work for another weapons without drastically changing the ballistics. I'd rather have silencers made from trash that last for maybe 10-20 shots. If crafting is going to be a big part of this game then why not add more craft able add-ons for each weapon!

Can you use this photo to highlight the area? I can't do it from memory.

It is a very helpful tip. Do not listen to them. I never find people here. You are helping out a bunch of noobs who are getting killed at Balota. They can supply here and have a fighting chance at Balota if they wish to go there.

My location <<<< is the name of this city if anyone wants to find it on the map. I agree. I never find it looted and have never seen anyone there. In this city you can find many mosin (wow such power), handguns, and importantly (lol) pristine clothes + food. But be careful. I am always in this town. :)

I think most of us can all agree when we say that the .22 will find it's own niche in DayZ. It is apparent that it will appeal to many players despite it's controversy in this thread. Now if only we could convince the team to implement makeshift silencers so the .22 could be that much better for zombie control in cities! I'd rather be covert than have a large caliber rifle in this game!
-
It is extremely useful for its purpose. I suppose most people are just uninformed or just obsessed with large calibers. Glad to see they will be using the Ruger 10/22 in this game. Extremely accurate and will be a great addition to this game.

Poor logic. They are missing many other types of ammunition. Since you seem to just look for what you want to see then please take a look at this: 60 grain sub sonic sniper round (.22): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GwRgIpbflA Two images of the same test. Watch the video for full effect. 22 LR CCI 40 grain Velocitor PLHP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFsDDgztf50 Yeah... so um, what was that reason they didn't show .22 other than poor sampling?

I was looking through the .pbo files and saw a file for making an improvised bomb using a butane canister. Is this something that will be implemented later or have I just not figured out how to craft it? Sorry if this is a repost but I couldn't find anything through search.

I had a guy call me a "D-bag" over and over because I wouldn't give him my Fire axe. He kept following me around yelling at me. I shot once in the air and he got louder. Cue your .gif. -
I only made this thread because I went into the fire station a stood over a butane canister. My screen immediately said "You are dead". Probably got shot in the back of my head from some distance. Thought it was a bomb. Looked over the .pbo files to see if anything like it was in game. Thus the thread. Thanks again.

The game needs to be polished. I am not a developer but I imagine that they did the best they could with the time they had. Currently the game isn't perfect. They admit that. But it is at a phase where the community can be extremely helpful during the last phases of development. The game is playable. You can have fun. People are having fun despite the problems. You should not have bought they game if you did not want to exploit the game and find problems/glitches. I wouldn't worry. You bought the game. It will be something you will be happy playing in the foreseeable future. Maybe you will even get some benefits for buying the game early. (not confirmed)

Okay, thanks guys. Beans all around.

I have found ammo for the revolver but have not found a revolver yet. This answers nothing, sorry.

Here is a good one: Tell them you just saw a guy with a silenced m4 around the corner. Tell him/her that they need to get to cover. It is a white lie but it will move their focus from you to some imaginary bandit. I usually do that to avoid them shooting me immediately. 60% of the time it works every time. -
It seems that there will be a .22 in the game thanks to the information Gews posted. Who would want makeshift silencers made out of plastic bottles, duct tape and some other items in DayZ?
-
They even make subsonic sniper rounds that have 120 ft lbs of energy with a 60gr bullet. Velocity is a little bit slower than the one you mentioned but it just strengthens your argument. I believe Aguilar makes these rounds. Edit: Here it is

ARMA II and DayZ occur in the same place. The locations in Chernarus are based on a few places in Eastern Europe / Eurasia. Not just the Czech Republic. Why do you think they speak Russian in Chernarus? Because it has a strong Russian influence. We can possibly infer that this fictional country is near Russia thus why I mentioned the Russian/Chechnya information. Let us not get off topic. We can talk about it over PM if you wish.

[OUTDATED] DayZ: The Ultimate Loot Route
The_Man replied to frostknivez's topic in General Discussion
I don't think you mentioned the apartments between Cherno and Balota. They are above the Tree line. The garages there have a lot of loot (mostly clothing) and other useful tools. -
Um, the company that developed Operation Flashpoint and ARMA are in the Czech Republic. The game does not take place in the Czech Republic but a fictional country that has a strong history with Russia involved. it might even border Russia but that is not certain. The fictional country of Chernarus joined the Russian Empire. This is all from the Wikipedia about Chernarus. An excerpt "The population of Chernarus is a combination of Chernarussian and Russian peoples. Russian populations are mostly condensed in the Northeastern region of South Zagoria in towns such as Krasnostav. The two nationalities share tensions, especially on the topic of politics. In times of war, civilians have created insurgencies, most notably in the 2009 Chernarus conflict. Insurgent groups made attacks against ChDKZ and Russian military groups."

I don't mean to go off topic but it won't let me Private Message you. I managed to open up the .pbo files but I can't get to the textures. How do you do that?
-
Wish it wasn't an American gun. Feels like the winchester thing all over again. Where did you get that texture? Just curious!
