The issue here is that First person advocates want to play on public hives and maintain that they don't need to play on private hives. They want us to all go first person because it is what they believe fixes this game. Sadly, in this type of game (modded from ARMA) will just cause more problems for the entire community. First person isn't a bad idea but it will affect a large portion of the community. How about this... Why not discuss how first person in addition to new mechanics will make first person more enjoyable by the entire community? Why do only the third person players have to make sacrifices? I am totally down with hearing some cool ideas on how to make first person way more enjoyable.

I am providing reasons to the argument. You can look over most of my posts here. They are littered with contributions in addition to my own personal opinion. I am not allowed to do that on a public forum? Lol!
-
Really? Looking over walls in third person isn't good? Will he add a mechanic so we can look over walls in first person like you can do in real life? No he won't. I would only support getting rid of third person if they implemented more mechanics that made observing other players easier in first in such a huge game.

People expressing their creativity, I don't see the problem. Let people have their fun and have your own instead of worrying and raging over it! Some people enjoy fiction. Life is too short to be upset at other people having fun.

Third person works in this game. A skilled player learns how to not be beat just because the other person is using third person. I enjoy first person only also! It is a different challenge. But I enjoy the challenge of being easily spotted and spied on by a player. It is realistic. Someone will always have an advantage over you. All I hear is whining from people who think people are exploiting a clearly working mechanic in this game. It is laughable, at best. Sad but true.

I won't need to keep playing the mod. Third person is here to stay. It won't go anywhere and I'm certain of that considering it's long standing presence in these games. I'm sure of that. People enjoy seeing their characters. It immerses them into the game more differently than third person.

Third person has been present in this engine since 2001. Go ahead, take it away. Rocket won't do it. If he does then it will make a return when private hives show up. Third person is PART of the game. You want to take out a mechanic that has been present in these games and mods for 12 years. Cool.

Ruined the mod? Man, it is a shame no one knows about how games running the RV engine work. Behind every game (Operation Flashpoint, ARMA, ARMA III, ARMA III, DayZ) followed with a surge in the community creating modifications and making the game to their own liking. This is such a huge aspect of the series. The engine allows for great modifications which has anything but ruined the games. Plus, those were private hives. Nothing carries over to the public ones. The truth is that private servers with mods strengthen the community. People get bored with vanilla. We should be so lucky that this engine is so easy to mod. I remember playing on modded Operation Flashpoint servers 10 years after it released. Say that DayZ isn't apart of ARMA or Op. Fl. but too bad, it is. The community creating modifications to the game is what created this game. The game is essentially a mod and therefore it is only logical that it will be modded itself. And don't worry! the original game won't be ruined! There are always people tired of mods and want to go back to Vanilla! You have the choice and that is all these games are about. Freedom to do what you want. I like it this way and I stand by my word that it works. Just look into the past communities of the aforementioned games.

The FOV slider goes to 180? Really? I don't think so. I'll test it later though
-
Third person is a little more fundamental to the game than you think. Have you even played any of the older games?
-
They have an instructional book to learn Russian so why not!?

Those who don't want third person are opening pandora's box. I remember being forced to not play in third person back in a few Operation Flashpoint and ARMA squads. Terrible. This game was made to have third person. If someone gets the upper hand on me because of third person then shame on me. You know it is there. Be aware.
-
Lol, third person has been used since Operation Flashpoint. Everyone has it so you just need to use it to your advantage just like any other thing. Pretend you have a stick with a mirror attached to it.

Hey, if you found it that is cool. We just want to see what that looks like. honestly I couldn't care less if you found it or not because if I found it I wouldn't get too attached it because a stab proof vest doesn't prevent me from getting shot in the face at Balota or from my gear being stripped via glitch. Pics please!

Yeah adding the Ruger 10/22 seems weird. It was kind of like seeing the Winchester in the DayZ mod. What was a lever action weapon from the 1800's doing there? Now a Ruger? Would make way more sense to see an Italian Rossi .22 than an American Ruger.

Drag the modules onto the weapon in your inventory. If it doesn't work try making sure that the weapon is not in your hands. Switch to a different item in your hands then try to switch the modules over. Once the modules are on...right click on a module such as a bipod and it should give you the option to Deploy it. I think. I have found Mosins in the school buildings. Top floor in the only room on the top floor. I think it is the school.

My graphics are on ultra ultra ultra so this screenshot may seem fake

I've taken out a few people with an M4...when I had a handgun. It comes down to what you are comfortable using and where you are in the map. Are you going to use a Mosin in supermarket? An m4 in a huge open field? This game is a little more complicated than your average FPS. What weapons do you have? They are all great. They each have their advantage. Take advantage of the weapon by looting in a place that suits the weapon. Need help? Long distances between you and your enemy with limited cover: Mosin. Moderate cover with sparse buildings: M4. Dense cities: Handgun, Axe. You can use any weapon any where really but in the end it comes down to what you are comfortable with using.

I just watched that video. I didn't know if a larger caliber silencer would affect the ballistics of a smaller round. It seems that is not the case! Interesting video by the way (adding water to the suppressor to making it more quiet).

Got attacked in Cherno, when I was editing the video I noticed he had been following me the whole night.

Staged (what good entertainment isn't?) or not...that was hilarious. -
Yep. If people exploit it instead of reporting it then chances are that it is helping the game anyway. Sadly the best way to get an important glitch fixed is to make it public. People exploiting it cause the public to become more voiced about the issue therefore increasing the urgency of fixing the glitch. Welcome to Alpha!

My avatar. I like the Soda billboard texture. Second would be the open sardine can texture. Mmmmmm!

Not a big deal that he posted it. Every one knows that it is alpha and we are all just testing the game. Doesn't really ruin the fun considering all the current bugs. As he said he is making it obvious to more people and perhaps those who think it is a big problem/exploit will vote on it. Some don't bother voting. Maybe this will entice them to sign up. No harm in my opinion.

I decided to make this thread as I noticed a trend of players who like to remain covert while entering large cities/towns. These players wish to avoid PvP but still want a little firepower to avoid confrontations with zombies. My solution? Short use silencers made out of random items such as Flashlights or Water bottles. The silencers would be good for a finite amount of uses until one would need to repair or trash them completely. Perhaps they would only work on lower caliber weapons such as a handgun or the upcoming Ruger 10/22. Silencer qualities as suggested by the community Silencers should have a limited lifetime such as being only good for a finite amount of shots fired. One community members suggested them as being one shot use only. One member suggested making a silencer out of an empty bean can. See crafting recipe ideas for a more visual concept. Silencers should not be as effective as the higher quality ones intended for rifles such as the M4 Different grades of quality that would alter depending on the quality and type of crafting supplies you use. See crafting recipe ideas for a more visual concept. Silencers may alter accuracy and energy of the bullets being fired. Potential crafting recipe ideas Low Quality Silencer + + Medium quality silencer ++ Higher quality silencer + + These silencers would be constructed using tools such as a screwdriver (to punch holes into the silencer). For the flashlight perhaps it might require a stronger or sharper object such as a knife or bayonet. These are just temporary ideas and can be adjusted. I would like some input from the community so we can polish the idea more! Here are some inspirational photos.
