    DayZ Mod 1.7.6 Update

Well, not only do they not aggro on you like they did in 1.7.5, but they were also made slower and their dodgy movement is being tamed. These are all steps in the wrong direction in my opinion. Might as well just get rid of zombies altogether if they're just going to stand there like deaf, nearsighted idiots and then walk a straight line to you when they do actually manage to spot or hear you. And they still don't do any damage. At least DayZ+ made taking a hit from a zombie something to avoided. And they're still too easily "killed". They're already dead. You'd think a bullet to the torso would hurt a living survivor more than a zombie who's heart isn't beating anyway. Might as well go play Wasteland or ARMA 2. Players whine anytime development gravitates toward zombies actually presenting any sort of threat. They disconnect when they get zombie aggro, or to clear a crash site or other loot source. Why are they even playing a zombie apocalypse game? There's plenty of other FPS shooters to choose from. Plenty of other mods to choose from.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.6 Update

A lot of good things in the update, but it appears that zombies are being dumbed down again. I thought after last patch that development might be headed towards making zombies an actual threat in a zombie apocalypse game. Doesn't appear there ever going to be anything more than a minor nuisance though. I hope the standalone doesn't pander to all the whining kids every time zombies come even a little close to presenting a threat the way the mod seems to be doing.
  3. Great servers. BMRF has some nice hardware. I never experience any performance issues myself. Regular restarts. And they offer a variety of mods and missions for DayZ and ARMA 2. Great community. Sure, not everyone will always agree. But there's a lot of good players here. Plenty of regulars you'll get to know, in-game and on the forums. The BMRF community make for a pretty good gaming atmosphere and a lot of fun. Great admins and moderators. I've found the admins at BMRF to be fair and hard working. They do their best to keep cheaters and exploiters off the servers, keep the side chat clean, and listen to the community. They take polls and feedback into consideration, and try to provide enjoyable servers for everyone. They offer donor perks for those willing to help with server costs, but keep the perks fair. They support some server mods such as JSRS and ACE sound mods, and stmovement. They provide custom buildings, vehicles, and loot tables, but do so in a way that makes sense, and without dumbing the game down and/or making it easy. And they provide support in-game, through IRC, and through the forums. So if you're a DayZ, Wasteland, or Warfare player, you play without cheats, and you're looking for servers full of like-minded players and admins that make up a rewarding gaming atmosphere, I suggest you give BMRF a try.
  4. Get rid of pdots and 3rd person camera. Each is just a watered down version of a wall/esp hack built into the game. Get rid of the M107 and AS50, and make the other sniper rifles more rare in general. Don't get me wrong, because I like to snipe as much as the next guy and always carry a sniper rifle when I can. But snipers are a specialized unit. They aren't that common. Yet every survivor is a sniper in DayZ. Remove weapons with thermal scopes. Add more weapons with iron sights. Get rid of helicopters. Again, don't get me wrong, I like to fly too. It's fun piloting a huey. But they'er WAY too common. They can traverse the map in a couple of minutes. And combined with 3rd person and pdots, camps and vehicle stashes become all but useless. And honestly, how many people are pilots in relation to the population. Yet in DayZ, everyone is a pilot. Make zombies smarter and tougher. As it stands, DayZ has become hardcore death match. I love PvP, but I can get that with regular ARMA missions. Zombies at the moment are looked on as more of a nuisance. If you can't improve the AI and pathing, at least make them hit harder, and make infection likely with each hit. Add some kind of inhibitor to slow the rate of infection til you can find a cure. This will make hospitals even more important. Balance the map a little more in terms of markets, industrials, etc (not military), so that there's more action throughout the map and it's not so limited to Cherno, Elektro, Berezino, Stary, and the airfields. Add more vehicle spawns. It just makes sense. Not sure why they're so rare. And it'd help solve the prolbem with vehicle hording. Make it so that trees and bushes render better at distances, so that players can't abuse low settings to find tents and vehicles. Add contruction to the game beyond wire fencing, tank traps, and sand bags. Make the constructions look plausible to the setting, such as wooden fortifications. Release the game with parameters in place to prevent or discourage Alt+F4'ing and server hopping. Make nights brighter, and limit or prevent gamma correction. Although I like realism, the simple fact is that pitch black nights empty servers. Most players don't like running around with flashlights and chemlights that basically turn them into beacons for bandits. The servers I frequent have made every night a full moon to help keep them populated. I prefer that approach to the 24/7 daylight solution. And for cryin' out loud, make it so that zombies spawn at the presence of vehicles. It'd ridiculous the mod has went this long without this being implemented. It makes absolutely no sense that zombies do not spawn from vehicles being present. But make sure they each have a realistic audible range. In mods that DID implement this change, bicycles brought every zombie in the city running at your approach.
  5. LoL Looks like this update has the Alt+F4 crowd crying and whining for less severe alternate fixes. Good job Rocket and Dev team. Good fix.
  6. FINALLY! No more crumbs and spills on the interior of my SUV.

    Bring back the respawn button

Leave respawn out. Better for the server. And you can still meet up with friends. Not having it doesn't stop that. But it does stop it from being super easy to respawn over and over til you get your favorite spawn, or to spawn as close as possible to where you got killed. Not having it adds more punishment to death and makes it even less trivial. Good decision on removing it.
  8. Unfortunately, it's just the state of the game. I used to call out friendly too. If they didn't shoot me on sight or as I was calling friendly, as in your case, they'd reply friendly only to shoot me in the back the first chance they got. So now, if you're not in TeamSpeak with me and I don't know you, I shoot first and never bother about the questions. I've lost too much gear and survival time trying to be friendly. My real friends get together with me on TS. Outside that, it's not worth the risk trying to make friends any more. Cold, hard reality of the game.
  9. After updating to version 1.7.2.4 on DayZ, and 95417 on ARMA2, running the lastest DayZ Commander v.0.9.0.48, my friend and I who usually play together can no long see the same servers. We even turned all filters off and every server we ask one another to join, the other doesn't have the server listed, even if filtered directly for that server.
  10. I'm against the Alt+F4 douches and the lame arsed server hoppers. But, nothing yet is being done to stop this. That said, it was your own fault. You played his game and let him kill you. You wanna be douch enough to camp players, don't cry when you get killed by one. Especially when you follow them cross servers. This game is about survival. Seems to me if you had a M24, an M4A1 ECO, and NVGs, and you got them all legit, you'd been happy enough. What did you have to gain by camping players at Stary? Now this QUIN guy you so obviously can't stand (and for good reason) has all your "phat lewtz". And as much as I hate the Alt+F4'ing douches, I inclined to say enjoy the gear QUIN, and good job giving a player camping pussy what he deserved.

IF this was an actual game...

My first choice would be to pay for it once, then also buy expansions and DLC. But I'd prefer if those expansions and DLC were simply to add more content. Not add increasingly more powerful items in order to promote sales while making the previous content inferior and/or obsolete. Despite my first choice, if it were to release on a monthly fee platform, I MIGHT still play it. But for how long, I do not know. Players currently subscibe to games like WoW (not me though, hate that piece of shit) that you mentioned. The problem with going with this option, is that it forces players to choose which game(s) they will continue to subscibe to as they generally limit monthly fee games because it's just another monthly bill, and one that you can do without. And when the next "new thing" releases, you're going to have many leave to try that new thing out. And maybe players decide to go back to an old game they like and miss playing. And with FPS games, losing players means less choices in servers and lower populations in the ones you do find. Because with this method, you can't just hop on for a quick game if you're not subscribing. Leave subscriptions to MMO's and their endless carrot on a stick gimmick. And I wouldn't even consider the F2P route. It's been my experience that F2P really means F2P2W (Free-to-Pay-to-Win). I won't even give this model a chance. I've fallen for it too many times. Ideally, it'd be nice if it were studio developed for the higher budget that allows for better game engine and anti-cheat support. The drawback here is that once corps get their claws into anything, management tends to ignore dev opinions, and instead, cater to the masses of whining, spoon-fed players that want everything given to them, and easy mode in all things (ie. WoW). Which would ruin this game, as it's appeal is in it's challenge and hardcore nature. As to servers, I think both community and studio. It just gives players more choices. I don't see why we'd need to choose one or the other here. Kickstarter? I don't have any experience with this. But from what I've seen, kickstarter games generally give advantages to the founders, and I'm not a fan of any game that gives advantage to players who have the easiest access to mommy and daddy's credit cards. It'd be different if it were a question of player vs game environment (PvE), but any game with PvP should be created with a level playing field in mind. Let the skill, wits, and experience of the player determine victory and defeat, and not how often the player is willing to punch in the digits of a piece of plastic.

    No Respawn button now? /sigh

I can see Rocket's point. And I don't like exploits, which respawning for a favored spawn is in my opinion. But unless another option presents itself, I'd just as soon keep it as a lesser evil, because I feel it's just going to encourage even more Alt+F4'ing.
  13. This is a little late as it happened 3 or 4 nights ago, but I was thinking about it so I thought I'd give some thanks. A few nights ago, I was scavenging at the NW Airbase. When I arrived at the southeast barracks, I approached cautiously, as everyone knows it's a hotspot for server hoppers. When everything looked clear, I moved to the entrance and right before my eyes, a dead body spawned on the ground just outside the door. No doubt this guy had Alt+F4'd out of another server when he got shot. So, I wanted to thank the guy who shot this douche, and for the shooter to take some measure of comfort in the fact that he had successfully killed this douche. And despite not getting to loot this douche, the shooter, I hope, will take a little comfort in the fact that I DID loot him. And when I took my picks of his sweet, server hopping bounty, I hid his body so that his mad rush back to the airbase to try to salvage his gear was fruitless. So thank you, unknown player, who shot this server hopping, Alt+F4'ing douche, and know that he lost it all.

    Inventory Wipes, someone explain.

Same happened to me last night. Lost my M16A3 CCO primary, my 1911 secondary, my coyote pack and everything in it which included a CZ550 sniper rifle. I also lost all my belt items (compass, box of matches, etc.) and my binoculars. The only thing I had left was my ammo, water bottle, etc. (same as you). I think it's a hive thing. I logged off one server because it was too dark to see anything. After logging onto 3 other servers, I finally found a daylight server. That's when I realize my gear was gone. Not sure which server I lost the gear on. But I've read elsewhere here, since it happened to me, that it can happen by logging off a server and losing packets while your character is being saved. EDIT: I'm probably going to take a break from DayZ and go back to some of my regular games. I can handle losing my gear due to a player or zombies killing me. Because then it's my fault, or the other player got the jump on me, or the other guy was flat out better than me. But losing days of survival and slow scavenging through high risk areas to a bug like this is just too frustrating. P.S. No, you can't have my stuff, because a bug got all of it.

    Items gone on log in

Yeah, I think I'm gonna take a break from DayZ for awhile. I don't mind it so bad if I get killed by a player or zombies, because at least then it was my fault, someone got the jump on me, or someone was flat out better than me. I can deal with those. But after days and days of surviving and gathering, I lost everything but what was in my vest between the time I logged off one server because it was too dark to see anything, and logging on 3 servers later after finding a daylight server. Not sure which server I lost everything on, but I lost my M16A3 CCO, side arm, my Coyote pack and everything in it including my CZ550. I know none of those was extremely rare, but still, it took a lot of risk and gathering to aquire. So I'm going to wait til this bug gets worked out, however long that'll be.

    LU222....

Yeah, this has been happening a lot. Clans or admins kicking everyone but their fellow clan mates or buddies so that they can gear up. I lost a bus because of this bullshit.

    DayZ Commander not working?

My dayzcommander has been working fine since I downloaded it. But since it upgraded to the newer version. It doesn't work. I get no servers at all. I don't even get the number of servers mentioned above. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled dayzcommander. And I've deleted the directory you mentioned. It still doesn't work. EDIT: Never mind. Apparently there is maintenance going on at the moment and no one is getting server lists. Guess it was just my luck it'd happen right after the update to make it appear as though the update were the cause.
  18. Probably just some a$$ of an admin. I get kicked all the time by admins that are boosting with a couple of their buddies. They don't want anyone else in there that might kill them or loot ahead of them, so that they can loot to their heart's content, boosting themselves so that they can join someone else's server and kill other players. I've tried rejoining some of these servers, but they will eventually lock them with a password. I lost a bus due to this crap one time.
  19. Same here. It's happened to me on two different servers, twice on each. I don't understand because I'm not running any scripts. My G15 keyboard is tuned to the TeamSpeak profile, no macros on it. And my R.A.T. 7 gaming mouse only has two macros set. The thumb forward to is just a "Shift" key press, and the thumb back is set to "Ctrl" key press. No scripts of any kind running.

    Updating Beta Patch Fix

Followed the instructions to the letter, and still get the "Waiting on Host" black screen. Waste of time.
  21. I'm a new player, and I'm loving this mod. I had thought about buying ARMA 2 for a long time, but didn't til I heard about this mod the other day. Anyway, I'd just like to add my suggestion to the probable many, that the broken bone bug be fixed. It can be frustrating "stepping over" something or crawling through a doorway and having a bone snap. Despite the frustration, I can't help but crack up every time I think about one of my friends that downloaded the game and mod to play with us. He's played the last three nights, and all three nights, just after finally meeting up with us, he's broken a bone without any morphine in the group, and quit in frustration. First stepping over a sandbag wall at the encampment south of the southern airstrip (been there, done that myself more than once). Second was crawling through a doorway. Third time was last night, and this was the funny one. Someone had put up a sandbag wall (2 sandbags high is all) in the doorway of the control tower of the southern airstrip. I heard him curse in teamspeak. Shortly after, I saw someone crawling at the door when I came downstairs. I thought someone was trying to sneak in and yelled in teamspeak, "WHO'S IN THE DOORWAY!?! IS THAT ONE OF YOU!?!" Then I just heard my friend say in an understandibly frustrated voice, "Put me out of my misery." The rest of us couldn't help but break into laughter at him. But funny moment aside. I hope this gets fixed.

Six Launcher Updated - Now Nothing Works

Yeah, this is pure bullshit. Need to fucking make it optional to update. I clicked to join a server and it updated automatically. Now my friends and I can't join any servers. Stays locked in the black "Wait for Host" screen.
  23. h4yw1r3

Put me out of my misery?

Yeah, just have a pile of wood in our inventory. Splint the bone so that at least you can move upright. Just make the run slower til you get the morphine.
