I like spreading players through the map. This way someone would be anywhere and nowhere is safe, and you have to take random country towns slow like Elektro and Cherno.. An easy way to punish players for killing themselves soon after a spawn is to give them increasingly shittier spawns, or continuing to give them the SAME spawn point. So if they continue to kill themselves soon after spawns, they are denied a new spawn point. If by chance someone just really sucks and keeps dying after they spawn legitimately, perhaps it will force them to get better at surviving

psychological effects of banditry
wolfsburg62 replied to SpetsnazGRU (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Unnecessary and backwards. Blurred vision hardly relates to killing people. If anything you'd be sharper and more keen from being on your toes so long, jumping at every sound and such. IF you want to add some stupid mechanic like that I would say add phantom sounds to make the player jumpy. Also not to mention some people are just phycos and wont be effected by guilt. This is an unnecessary mechanic. But phantom sounds? Much better. -
What are your thoughts on camping snipers at Balota?
wolfsburg62 replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Well I was at Balota yesterday with some friends. We were in the jail house upstairs and another group came up and wiped out all of my team except myself. I hunkered down and lay prone next to the bodies to wait for them to return. However, a sniper with a Mosin took them, and many other players in Balota out; saving my skin in the process. It was a sort of beautiful symbiotic relationship. With each report of the Mosin I knew there was one less bad guy to worry about. It was like swimming in shark infested waters and being chased by a shark, but another shark ate my shark. Thank you Balota sniper. -
So. Today I've entered a whole new level of douchebaggery. I have never been overtly mean or cruel to people in DayZ in the past. It's all been about survival. If I took a man down it was to save my skin. Not today.... I was a fresh spawn, I had no loot and I was stranded on the East side. With the implementation of being able to punch players and knock them down long enough to loot some gear I've noticed many players attempt this. In general I've noticed players are more volatile with melee weapons. I saw a player being attacked by a zombie. He was bleeding and running. I hollered at him to follow me. He was in desperate need of assistance and he complied without a second thought. I brought him to a building and told him to stay still so I could bandage him. He complied.... I punch him square in the face, grab his backpack and hightail it out of there! He said I was a dick and he's totally right. But all that incident did is fuel my rage. Whilst walking through a town a short time later I could hear a player eating. I slip in the shop he was eating in and say hi. He backed up initially, but I said I was "friendly" and would like to trade. I was unarmed and he wielded a pipe wrench so I probably didn't seem like a threat. Soon as he got near a raised my fists and punched him square in the jaw, knocking him down. But this time.... I didn't stop. I had him cornered, he was able to scramble to his knees but I continued to hit him. His head bobbed back and forth with each blow, he could do nothing to stop me. I kept jabbing him until he didn't get up. I PUNCHED HIM TO DEATH! I had never done this before, I'd be pissed if someone did it to me. But you know what? I wouldn't give them the chance. People complain about killing new spawns. Why? Look what I did as a new spawn. Today I entered a whole new level of douchebaggery, But you know what? It was an eye opener. Next time, I may help the player out, give him food at the risk of my personal safety. Why? Because it feels right. But you know what feels better? Surviving. I think I just became a bandit. Welcome to DAY Z mother fuckers. I'll see you in Chernarus

You know I killed this guy on the railroad tracks outside of Balota. He didn't comply when I told him to raise his hands. In response he flipped me off and I shot and killed him. But he had my utmost respect. He knew he was dead, he looked me straight in the eye and gave me the bird. That's how I would go. Kudos whoever you were.

A whole new level of douchebaggery

It's new to me, and I'll start with you :o -
This will help you tremendously. I have duel monitors which makes it easier. But It's an interactive loot. map. It's not completed yet, as the game still has yet to be completed. But it has English translations of towns, making it very easy to find your way. http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus

I think a .50cal sniper sounds awesome. But they'd have to be rare and ammo should be very hard to find.

Fistly I'd like to see the most practical weapons implemented, like shotguns firstly, then .22 rifles, they would be the most common in the countryside, and quiet too. Then bolt action rifles and some pistols. Assault rifles would be less available. However this is Russia so lets see some AK's and SKS's >:(

Has the incredibly frustrating lag when switching weapons been addressed? Hot keys dont always register, requiring you to press them multiples times, on top of that there is lag between the switching animation. This is problematic when you're in town and a zombie spots you, you cant get your axe out in time. It's annoying. Has this been addressed or will it be fixed later on?
-
That issue is already addressed and is somewhat fixed, its better than it was.

Sell your Mac to get a PC :D

The game is bugged. When a zombie hits you, you need to clean your wounds with alcohol. Once you do that, the game will say your sick. Thats a bug. You're already sick when you get hit by a zombie but the status doesnt show until you clean your wounds. Make sure you do that each time you're hit. When you eat, you need to eat until you're stuffed. Once you're stuffed with enough food (dont over eat or you'll puke) you will eventually get a status on your tab menu that says HEALING or HEALTHY. I usually eat periodically between my binge meals. You're character needs an insane amount of water, spam the wells for at least 20-30 drinks. Also, you can steal blood from other living players, they dont even need to be bound. Also I hear vitamins help you regenerate blood faster and kind of help with everything overall. Anyways this is what I do and it's worked out pretty well so far. Hope any of that helps.

In my opinion, the current compass is an example of over-design.

It wouldnt be so bad if there wasng so much GODDAMN LAG when changing weapons. -

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
wolfsburg62 replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
Dayz is special. It's only in alpha yet it's my new favorite game. In fact it's problematic, I'm playing it a little too much. I've dumped about 60 hours In a week. To be fair though it was Christmas and I had a lot of time off work -
Gone, but not forgotten.

Third person view removal from SA discussion
wolfsburg62 replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
I play only 3rd person. Deal with it. -
I would really like to see more detailed statistics of my character. How many kills/ deaths, playtime, rounds fired, accuracy ect. But most of all I would really love if they would implement a sort of player migration map. For example, you can open the map which has tracked all of your movement with color. Kind of like a topographical chart, or migration map. You would be able to see exactly where you've been, and what routes you took to get there. Red areas would be places you've spent the most time in, while green might represent you have been there once or twice. It would be really neat to see my movements like that because I have begun to develop a pattern and play style. Maybe its a stupid idea, but I'd definitely like to see more kinds of character statistics, like those journals Rocket showed us on early versions of DayZ Standalone.

You can make notes on paper. Although I have not been able to read them. But being able to put notes on the map, now you're on to something. That would make me actually use the shitty in game maps.
