this happened to me just after you. it is the first time it has ever happened to me on that server
-
this server one of the most corrupt i have played on. i was killed multiple times by hackers on different days. nothing being done, it feels a little wierd to have that happen so often.

gant rant is what my friends call it when i go on a tyrade about one thing or another. usually they find it amusing. This is another chance for me to rant and rave about things in DayZ, which is not me trying to talk about new features being implemented, or offer helpful advice. Really it is just a way for me to get things off my chest, and maybe get a few grins while I do it. I love this game, and I love the experiences I get from it. My favorite experience is what I like to call the Traveling Child Experience. Walking is hard, helping new players is hard. Reading the map is hard. All these things combine to make the road trip from hell, if especially done right. Here I am, coming down from what I am doing to help out my friends in the game as they come in from death. I don’t mind, whatever. It is fun to die with buddies than die alone, right? Half the time though, I hope I die first so I don’t have to deal with the hell that is Chernarus with friends. I mean for God’s sake guys, the map is 225 square km, and I am running the entire length of it. Stop asking me how long the journey is going to take. It is going to take a while. Get a feel for the game while you wait I say, run around and get eaten and die a few times I say. It doesn’t matter, I will be there and we will be able to meet up. Of course, they do this, and I get to hear about it the entire time. Sneaking isn’t sneaking if you keep telling me you are sneaking, it is literally like babysitting sometimes over our team speak. Yes we use team speak, as this is a video game, not a video serious. It is supposed to be fun, so we will use 3rd party communication software to find each other. But believe me, I wish we didn’t. Anyway, I digress yet again. So it isn’t sneaking if hear you tell me you are crawling and sneaking around the zombies every three seconds. Dammit man, I know you can do that. All these things you are learning are not new to me. But keep doing it, stop asking me where I am. It get’s incredibly fun when I do tell them where I am, as I have/had a gps. Grid coordinates mean nothing to them, it just confuses them as they begin to ask in relation to them. Are you here yet? Dude…no… Well how far are you from me? I don’t know, did you stay in kamenka, of course they didn’t, and when they tell me which direction they are running from kamenka, they say North, and they found a bunch of military tents, which is not right. They probably ran east actually. Then the insisting on knowing which city I am near, then asking where that city is… yeah that wasn’t annoying the first 40 minutes of this trip. And then I realize it ahsnt been 40 minutes, it has been 15. Helping your new friends is like driving to Disney world in Orlando Florida from Alaska with four kids in the back fighting and asking if they are there yet. That annoying feeling, but suddenly when you get there it is all better. Then you get shot. And it starts over. Oh well, at least I finally got a bandage.

this seems like a good idea too me, right now i cant think of any arguments to make for or against it, but i thought i would support it.

First off i want to say that this game, has swallowed many hours of my life and many evenings. I do love it, and i will keep playing it, regardless of what things annoy me or what things i like. I like the idea of things going south and annoying me when i don't see it coming. I also like to complain about these things, as it often is just easier to do that than it is to try and rationalize it or find a work around or what have you. This rant, in particular, is of my night prior to this post, and my misadventures of trying to help my new player friends. While we pretend to be a clan, we are just a group of like minded idiot friends playing this game together. We refer to ourselves as the “Fifth Street Cuddles”, which should explain to you how serious we take ourselves. Do not get me wrong, we try and stay alive and do our best to fight zombies and bandits alike, but we all know how that goes sometimes. To get back onto the topic, last night as me and another made the journey from Berezino all the way to Kamenka to pick up these friends, I did not expect to make it back on the same character. I completely was okay with being killed in any form or capacity. So, once we found two of the three people we were looking for, I will skip the hours of walking in this story as I am not doing a Lord of the Rings style story here, we decided that going to cherno would be a fun idea. And why wouldn’t it? There our four of us, at least 2 of us should be able to make it out. This is where the story gets fun. When we met the first other survivor, he was wearing a ghilli suit and being very stealthy in his movements. By being very stealthy in his movements, I mean to say he was running around surrounded by zombies, who were constantly hitting him, like he was some sort of damned terminator. This was when we started trying to shoot him, as we were grown up adults and shooting people in a game is totally a mature way to express yourself. When the rounds started hitting him, he merely turned and suddenly everything around us started exploding. At which case, like men, we logged off. That was not fun for us. And no, I did not hit alt f4 or whatever, I click escape and press abort when I log off. Or ctr+alt delete. Like a man. So we found another server to play in, and began our journey to the hospital for medical supplies as one person took a grenade and lost some blood. When we got to the hospital, I immediately began shooting the glass with my M16, because doors are for idiots in the zombie apocalypse. And after emptying 2 clips into the same window, I realized that perhaps there was a more munition friendly way of doing this. So I ran into the apartment that my friend was searching and began looking at my bag, when suddenly there was a bang and down I went, -9000 blood. At which point I was annoyed, because I hate being shot, it hurts. I will skip the part of my friends figuring out the next course of actions, for one cannot keep down the gang known as the fifth street cuddles. We are a tough bunch, with our cuddling. So upon my respawn in otmel, I began my trek back to cherno. When suddenly, there was a bang. Low and behold, I was on the ground again. This of course, made me wonder why someone would waste the ammunition on me like that. So, second respawn, Kamenka, I was eaten by zombies as I was unable to find any weapons. Third respawn, Elektro, awesome I thought. Entered the city with a merry skip in my step. Made it to the grocery store and was picking up food when another bang, down I go for the third time. Upon my respawn, in the same city. I made a mad dash out of the city, when there came another shot and down I went, for the fourth time, clutching my bandages as it was all I had. With each respawn, the loading windows began to overwhelm my senses. When I spawned near balota, I found a hand grenade in the deer stand, which I later lobbed into the fire station and killed someone. REVENGE! Then, bang, down I went with a bullet in me. Another respawn, Otmel again, ran to the construction site, bang. Bullet in me. My bandages, they knew that I was the only man in the game spawning with solid gold bandages, and my flashlight was holding diamonds. At this point, I just wanted to live for longer than the loading screens kept me down. Which I did, as I made it to the wilderness to starve to death! Take that jerks. With each death I became a little wiser, and the final attempt, cherno. Running through the streets with the Benny Hill song in my head I ran into a school, where I found another survivor attempting to go through a bag. With no warning I kissed him aside the head with an ax! Take that you random survivor, and then I saw the clan tag on the kill. And then I saw the other people around the building with automatic weapons. They didn’t believe me when I said I thought he was a zombie… and down I went again. So, after almost 5 hours of play, I did finally get out of a town with the best gear in the game. I mean, people kill for this gear all the time, I had learned. That’s right, a bandage, some painkillers, and a flashlight. Take that you bandit jerks.

Lol u do know why there are so many hackers right?
gant12000 replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i think i should clarify, using codes that other people make and spending money to get cheats, doesnt make you a hacker. it makes you a sucker. who would have to spend money to be good at this game if it is so bad? -
i met a man once who went to green mountain. all i know is he left with four people, and came back by himself without his pinkies. dont go there.

unfortunately this happened to me last night as well. i am not a new player, but i ran to the coast to help some friends who just got the game, and got shot. not a big deal, i laughed at that. then when i spawned, i ran through kamenka and found nothing but tin cans, as all the other gear worth anything had already been taken. where had it been taken i wondered? when i got to cherno with a trusty crowbar i was shot while trying to get into the fire station. okay, whatever. that happens. then i spawned in elektro, on the pier, began to move into the city and was shot when i stopped to adjust my video settings. spawned again, shot the moment i got anywhere near a place where i could find gear. i never found my friends, and i tried to move in land, saying to heck with the cities. starved to death because i could not find anything to eat. it was pretty bad. basically i was just wanting to start playing, but i never really did. i ended up just going to bed after hours of play with nothing to show for it. just hours of being killed over and over. i do not mind it, but i just wish when i spawn in these little towns that arent cherno or elektro, i can find equipment and food to keep me from having to go to cherno or elektro.

i am still having troubles with the tents, though if no one else is it could just be my computer. just thought i should let you know
-
lol, fifteen minutes of time on screens loading to find out it is a dead end!
-
exactly, the likely hood this happening could be gone if the player has a light source or something. it would also trip zombies i was thinking.
-
in the end, i think the implementation of the underground would determine whether or not the map would have to be redone. if it is an instance system, like Rocket has mentioned, then i think minimal at best for a rework of the entire level design wise. certain codes and scripts however, would need an entire overhaul. if it would be part of the level and you are capable of entering it, then huge map rework and snippets of code would have to be reworked.

So, after the 106 time i crawled into a doorway and fractured my leg, i got to thinking how this could be a feature. i mean, not through door ways but through other things. a bit later after bleeding out due to the homicidal door and zombies, and on my next character, at a dead spring through the forest in the pitch black dead of night i was just amazed how i hadn't sprained my ankle or tripped or anything, and neither had the zombies chasing me. you are only punished when using lights, often too much. i think to add a feature that could utilize the bug that is breaking bones due to the environment could be used to add incentive for players to use light sources whilst running through the forest's at a dead sprint in the night. basically, i think that during certain times, a character could hurt himself in some way that would cause himself to slow down and take it easy. maybe not to the extreme of a fracture to where now they are crawling, but perhaps pain, shock, things like that. add a feature that is "tripping" and force the character to go prone. this would be annoying, of course, but i think it would add a whole new level of thought for those of us that play at night to avoid dangerous survivors. just a thought, anyone else think something like this would be interesting, or a way to make this more interesting.
-
yeah, i think this would mean the map would have to be rebuilt, but i think that if the "underground" portions were instance based, like going into a house in bethesda games, they could exist in seperate scene files on the servers. of course, the code for the random spawns and assets being modeled and all that would be a time consuming and expensive. not to mention in the alpha, testing this feature would be a huge time pit for the development team. but if Rocket really wants it done, these are all options on how it could be incorporated and still make sense.

i showed this inventory to someone, your mockup i mean. they haven't played the game, nor arma, and could not figure out what it was or what went where. it is a good start, though. i think you should try another mockup, with just a simple sketch on paper. show that to someone that hasnt played this game and see if they can figure it out, repeat until you think it is ready to be more fleshed out and do a digital version. alot of the problems i see with this will vanish if you try that. if you want, i could take a swing and try some variation of what i think you want.
