    What just happened?!

For the first time I was on the business end of hackers. I glitch-died, which was bad enough, so I had to run back and recover my body. On the way back, someone set the entire fucking city on fire. I'm thinking, "Hackers," but I ignore it and keep going. That's my loot. (Although at least 8 or 9 people were booted by Battle Eye just on my trip into the city...) I make it to my body, which is now a default skin because I died twice on the way back. Grab the loot, and am on my way out of the city when I see a crowbar. I think to myself, "Considering how shitty it was that I couldn't even find a melee weapon on the way here, maybe I should take this crowbar and give some newbie my hatchet." I crouch to pick up the crowbar and in the middle of the animation I'm surrounded by 8 guys with shotguns and assault rifles and half of them in ghillie suits. Except, none of them were expecting me to be prone so they're looking around confused at first. NOPE! I don't give them the time to figure it out. Alt-Tab to Task Manager, end process. I load back onto a different server with all of my loot, except now I'm lying in the middle of NWAF in broad daylight. FUCK! I survived in one piece, but...FUCK! These guys are just getting shittier.

    What is Humanity?

Humanity carries over after death. It's not a measure of how decent a person you are to other players since the last time you died, it's a measure of how decent you've been to players since you started playing. You can wear ghillies and camo if you're a bandit, though. On a side note, there is a concerted effort on the boards to spread disinformation to maintain the necessary level of ambiguity bandits need to survive. Today I encountered a bandit in a Ghillie suit in Balota while trying to recover my body today. Unfortunately, facing in a certain direction produced too many artifacts for me to see more than 10 meters. He didn't seem to have that problem since he was facing away from the artifacts. Anyway, he emptied three clips from his pistol in my direction and missed each time after he couldn't hit with his sniper rifle. To be honest, he only ended up succeeding because I had wound up in Balota after breaking my leg crawling over a step that was a few inches too high and I hadn't found so much as a hatchet in the last two towns. He finally got point blank and emptied his gun into me while I was crawling away (although he was immediately eaten by zombies, so...uh....). It's kind of striking once you realize what most of the bandit playerbase consists of. People who have horrible aim so all they can do is chase down crippled, unarmed targets while dressed in ghillie suits even if they die just to make a point.

    Death by Dehydration

I've almost bottomed out on my dehydration meter before. Carry a water bottle. Carry two. Hell, carry three and drink every soda you come across. Last thing you need is to have your dehydration level drop and think, "I HAVE to go into the city right now and search every building no matter what." You should only enter cities if you have to or if you're looking for a fight. And, ideally, you should never enter a city because you have to.

    What does Mountain Dew do?

I didn't believe this story. And I've had this Mountain Dew for five or six days (so what, you might say, you're going to die eventually...it's totally a coincidence that keeping a single can of soda in a game where people die repeatedly would mean you had the soda in your inventory when you died). But listen to this. So, here I am, sitting in Elektro. Friendlies keep shooting at me and aggroing zombies because they're stupid and haven't figured out the system yet, so I'm waiting until one of them gets a chunk bitten out so they can be appreciative of my good nature. Anyhow, suddenly I hear a helicopter. I go to the bottom floor of the factory I've staked out and watch it spin out of control and finally collide with the roof of a building. Metal and fire flying everywhere. At this point I think, "Some bandit's going to snipe the folks making a run for it," so I decide to do overwatch. I whip out my binoculars and take a look at the commotion. Now, pieces of helicopter continue to fall out of the sky, fireballs everywhere, metal the size of small motorcycles bouncing all over the place. I'm fairly entertained by this, and then I see him -- Rambo. I hear him first, opening fire with an AK-74 on anything moving, swarmed by zombies one after another after another. I ease up to the window and put my binoculars on and he disappears back into the flames. The next thing that happens... So, I take a step to the left and out of nowhere I suddenly have an unconscious tag (it's about 15 seconds). I fall right through the wall breaking my legs on the way through and tumble to my death. That is, sort of. A screen pops up saying "You are dead" except I check my blood counter and it says 5,863 blood. So...I died by bumping my head against a window, phasing through the wall like Kitty Pryde, breaking my legs, and taking 5,000 damage. I don't care what anyone says, I'm blaming that Mountain Dew.

    Bandit skin is awesome

You need to read the thread on the -1,000,000 humanity club.
  6. It'd be interesting if ghillie temporarily lowered your humanity to bandit level.
  7. This isn't a ban waiting to happen...

    My first Humanity WTF?

The e in the kill count either stands for 2.718 or 10 to the power. So -1.0e^6 would be -1,000,000 humanity (some people are bandits of the highest order of banditry)..

    The Power of a Towel

Or they could just teleport you into space and let you drop to your death. I'd consider a hero skin script to at least be a bit of a sporting chance.
  10. @TheSadPanda Most of your issues revolve around the fact that tents are convenient and you really like them. Although you do pose questions about further exploits and code shenanigans, I'll start by stating the obvious solutions: Remove vehicle storage completely. Reserve it for tents. Get rid of tents completely. If you die, you lose everything you own. But if we leave tents, I have one response to people not "punishing" players for filling a teammate's tent with loot and risking losing it all: "Use your own tent!" Why would it be more fair to keep your own stuff if you can't even find a tent than it would be to lose everything when you die. If you really want to be safe, leave one player behind to guard your stuff while everyone else loots. It's an exploit, but it also discourages hoarding and server hopping and allows for consequences for permadeath. But if you spend the extra 30 dollars to buy a second character whose sole job is to keep a tent alive on the server, someone else had a very good idea about only allowing players to put things into their tents. Basically, tents are cheap and easy mode and should be removed altogether. But if they won't be removed, then make it so that they can't be used as extra lives and a work-around to avoid permadeath.
  11. The system looks a little buggy. There are bandits who have their humanity constantly recalculated, there are survivors who are getting 15 humanity a minute just running around, and then there are people like me with a humanity level that apparently hasn't moved since creation.
  12. So I've already seen self-aggrandizing discussions about how easy humanity will be to manipulate. This is, of course, very unlikely given the fact that the griefers have negative humanity in the multiples of hundreds of thousands, so no problems there. But just in case new bandits get any smart ideas, here are two easy ways to solve this that can be added in a hotfix. Healing bandits doesn't improve humanity. Attempted murder has a humanity cost equal to patching someone up. The first could be a simple check similar to bandit kills versus murders. The second would cancel out all attempts at spamming healing/bleeding cycles.

    The Power of a Towel

Announced for 1.7.3 Healing bandits doesn't give you humanity. Shooting non-bandits without killing them costs as much humanity as healing them. Muahahahahahahaha!!! ----- This isn't real. But this is how incredibly simple it would be to ruin all plans at bandits manipulating the system.

    Humanity is back, i'm FKED.

Actually, if tents despawned on death, then you would have to leave at least one player behind every time you went on missions to hold everyone's equipment. They wouldn't be able to just pick up loot from dead peoples' tents and move it since all of that loot would disappear as soon as the person who owned the tent died.
  15. "Look, all I'm saying is I wouldn't play this game if dying meant I had to start from the beginning. By the way, you're kind of a coward if you don't let me hoard items and avoid permadeath." Logic cried and then shot himself in the head after reading this.
  16. Bandit skins only go away when your humanity returns to 0. Heroes would still see you as a bandit when you respawn and shoot you in the face as soon as they showed up. And then they would get humanity points for putting another douche in the ground.

    Humanity is back, i'm FKED.

I see that 2500 is the default. But if you read the posts immediately before mine you'll see people saying their humanity is going up by itself over time. It seems that mine isn't.
  18. "Man...man...man...girl...man...girl...girl...girl..." Wow. Unless you're spawning in pigtails with a hello kitty backpack and a teddy bear...

    Bandit skin is awesome

Today We Learned... Bandits claim to love PvP...but are actually horrified at the possibility.

    Female bandit skin....

This idea is bad. This thread is bad. OP should feel bad.

    Bandit Skin Bugged????

Probably server-side exploits. Attempts to wipe out humanity might be breaking the way humanity works for you on that server. It's why it keeps trying to make you a bandit and then forcing you to respawn. They haven't figured out how to override it yet.

does a ghillie cover up a bandit skin

Banditry QQ party! I brought the dip!
  23. Actually, there are guns in about 1/3rd of American households. That said, there is 1 gun for every American. But this is because people with guns tend to own several of them.

  25. It's funny how quickly people stop reading a post that makes them feel bad. It's like there are two completely different discussions going on: The ones who mostly agree with what the OP said. And the ones who want to keep playerkilling. (For some reason...I don't...that doesn't have anything to do with anything, what are you people talking about? Unless the point is that most bandits are afraid of permadeath, which would explain why they randomly jump to defending banditry in a thread that mostly ignores it.) Anyway, while I think looting other corpses should still be possible, deleting tents on death would maintain the banditry aspect while still preventing players from not having to worry about death.
