    People who play 3rd person

I guess I should have said "good" games. I also said tactics. None of those titles are even close to open world or sandbox and all of which force a player through a series of levels while on rails and most of the stealth is some basic scripted event thrown in to mix up the game play. Besides Mirror's Edge and Bioshock, I doubt any of those other games sold well enough to even support a multiplayer experience for long. Can't tell if serious... "Well, I guess I should have made myself clear. I meant published games made by guys named Rocket on the Arma II engine..." Okay, champ.
  2. The AS50 weighs 27 pounds. The M136 rocket launcher weighs 14 pounds. Clearly we should be able to dual-wield rocket launchers in our primary slots. Also, maybe an AS50 that fires satchel charges attached to its bullets? I think we need to make sure that players can't keep outrunning rifle rounds. It's so unrealistic.

    Water Jerry Cans

While water cans make sense, it also makes survival a little too easy. Considering how useful water canteens are, replacing them in the game with high-storage, high-capacity containers would be a bit gamebreaking. One alternative is to have a water can take up slightly less space than a canteen. So a five use water can could take up only four spaces. That way you are using space more efficiently while still having to manage inventory. Water should hydrate better than a pepsi, but only because caffeine dehydrates you. A rootbeer would be a mix of calories and water and would both stave off hunger and hydrate you. Anyway, water bottles are fine for what they are -- reliable, refillable back-up water supplies if you can't get to a can of soda. And bodies of water show up on your in-game topo map as well as dark green splotches at the bottom of mountains/hills while fountains/pumps show up as little fountains in cities when you zoom in all the way.

    Spawn with a Map

I didn't find a map for two weeks. The game feels completely different when you don't know what you're looking at and you'll eventually start to feel your way around, recognizing landmarks, towns. Road signs. Constellations. The direction the sun is moving at a certain time of day. I really wish people wouldn't cheat by looking this stuff up online when it comes to this sort of thing since the map design is absolutely beautiful and intuitive (thanks, BI). They won't appreciate anything going on around them when they get to slap together everything and skip right to the looting. It loses its context and meaning.

    starter weapon

Half of the people here started with Makarovs that did 2300 damage when they first started playing and now they have tents so they don't even remember what spawning without loot even means. And now they're telling you you're whiny because they have maps to all of the loot in the game and tents full of loot on every server. So, ignore them. They're not very smart or empathetic to how the game actually plays right now because the world revolves around them and they can't tell the difference between how hard it is to actually play the game as a new player and how hard it is to play the game as a veteran with a bunch of maps someone drew of loot locations and spawn percentages. That said, Rocket is right about one thing. You need to think about why you want the game mechanics changed, what it would accomplish, and why you're arguing for it. Simply saying it's "annoying" to start out without a weapon is not a very good argument. The game is supposed to be difficult. Now, here are some decent reasons why you might think it's fair to start with a weapon of some sort. Weapons aren't spawning anywhere near me in the starter locations. This makes risking your life often fruitless and monotonous. Also, unrealistic since rural areas should be filled with hatchets and crowbars. Weapons only seem to spawn in high volume areas like Cherno and Elektro filled with player killers who are already pointlessly overgeared and pick off new players instantly just for fun. So the game becomes an unchallenging shooting gallery for veterans and a crucible/gauntlet/meat grinder for new players above and beyond the actual difficulty of the game.

    Tents flattened and staying flattened!

Next time you flatten a tent, save that sucker. You're doing the Lord's work but you need to commit to it.
  9. My humanity has never dropped below 2500. So you're telling me someone came at you with a hatchet. You ran away, aggroed a team full of zombies, found the guy again, sicced an army of zombies on him. And then you grabbed a hatchet and killed him? Can anyone in the class tell me at what point this guy went from self-defense to murder? Anyone...? Bueller? Your skin doesn't change back until you get 2000 humanity.

Sound & Smell oriented Z magnets

What if the flies you hear is your smell meter? And the more flies you hear, the louder your ambient sound level while standing still? So at stinky you get one or two flies and you see them on your camera flying around and you hear an intermittent buzz circling your head but you're not making a sound. It's annoying but you're not in danger. At smells-like-booty-juice you get a small cloud of buzzing at the corners of your screen and you have one tick on your ambient noise level. Zombies know you're there (not by the flies but by the smell that attracted the flies...but it's tied to your noise level in the code so you can keep track). Zombies will slowly be drawn to your position if close. At holy-lord-that-is-some-shit-stench-funkiness you get flies everywhere around you with buzzing sounds spinning about your head and your ambient noise level is two ticks without moving. This signifies that zombies know you're there from quite a distance away. Bleeding without bandaging yourself increases your stink level. As does running long distances. You can lower your stink level by bathing or standing in the rain for a short period of time. It would motivate players to take risks to their health in order to keep their stink down and take risks to their items by going into water as well.

    Escape ending

I like it. Then players could have speed-runs through DayZ. It would be necessary to fix loot spawns of course, especially when it comes to vehicles. One possible option would be a widget (like a FoF identifier) that you need to build by collecting different pieces from loot spawns to get past the blockades that will keep people from storing crap off the map eventually. Once you have that, you can build/steal a vehicle and drive through the blockade to the end game with the game keeping track of play time required. A lot of it would be random, of course, so that might be a problem for people comparing their stats (but what in this game isn't randomized?)

    Bags

I think one big problem is that loot spawns where you expect it too, but it does so far too often...this leads to farming and server hopping. If loot spawned like helicopter crashes in the middle of nowhere and if more loot spawns were added to non-city locations and if overall loot spawns were decreased, you could push the action of the game out of the cities and into wide-ranging, roving activity. Deer stands seem like one way to diversify this, but they're too predictable still. One person had the idea of paratroopers randomly spawning in trees that was cool, and I suggested randomly spawning "camp sites" with sleeping bags and hunting knives and hatchets as well as actual in-game tourist locations.
  13. I'm just still waiting for them to fix the blowing mechanics away so that the loads do more reasonable damage when you shoot them.

    camel pack

I own a camelbak. They still take up a lot of room and don't hold an incredible amount of water. While hands-free is a useful ability, they should either be a separate pack with a couple of slots storage (like mine at home) or a multi-slot inventory item that replaces the equivalent number of canteens. Not saying I'm against it, just saying there's no need to exaggerate to make an idea seem more appealing. A camelbak is just an anti-microbial waterskin with a drinking tube coming out of it.
  15. You know what would also be good for camps? Browning .50 caliber machine guns, jukeboxes, and laser guided missiles. Just because you lack something you wish you had does not mean it is necessary for a camp. You can still set up barbed wire, sandbags, and store vehicles even if you can't hoard loot.

    Backpack storage

People referencing movies an example of how people would respond in real life situations...? Saywhathefucknow? @bad_mojo In 28 Days Later the main character battles his way through the military to rescue his best friends. Not to mention someone fighting his way through armies of zombies to rescue complete strangers and share his food and water with them. Since we're talking about how realistic movies are...why not go with the original instead of the sequel? @FishIsTwonk People are powerful, energy efficient, swift creatures with high levels of endurance. There are stronger animals in different areas, but humans aren't weak. And fight-or-flight hasn't been bred out. We're actually easily frightened and manipulated into acts of violence through emotional triggering. But we are also naturally eusocial creatures with an innate tendency toward forming groups, a trait that provides substantial emotional and psychological reward triggers. tl;dr Humans will punch you in the face just as soon as look at you. Sometimes. Other times they will break their last loaf of bread in half and share it. It really depends on the human, the circumstances, and the environment.

    camel pack

But pound for pound they would take up the same amount of space as a canteen of equal volume. And since the game doesn't require you to do any animations to drink from a canteen, you might as well have the canteen. This just seems like Videogame PhysicsTM.

    People who play 3rd person

If 3rd person is easy mode... But everyone has access to it... Is it still easy mode? (Yes. Why are we even arguing over this. 3rd person is for people who leave nothing to chance. If you were concerned about peripheral vision, you would double tap - and get your realistic FOV on...if you were concerned about peeking around corners, you would tap q or e to...peek around corners...3rd person is easy mode. It doesn't make you a bad player, it just puts a booster seat on your gameplay.) So wait...people with 3rd person have stats equal to those with 1st person? So basically people with 3rd person would suck without the boost? What are you saying here?

    Why Even Have Bandit Skins?

...Stop shooting people. Your bandit skin will disappear in about 2 hours. Oh, wait...you keep shooting people. Because you're a bandit.

    Getting full off of food?

There's actually an entire thread on blood regeneration replacing the current system of food replenishing blood (also, blood packs would lose a lot of their healing potential to balance things out).. You should probably get in on that/dig it up because that seems like something you'd get behind.
  21. I'm surprised in the long list of skills people keep suggesting, no one included "survival." You know, the longer you survive the more blood you get, the less damage bullets do, and the steadier your aim. FFS. We need more ideas like OPs to make this game what it should be.
  22. Instead of arbitrarily making the game harder for new players, how about we get rid of tents and vehicle storage and see the panicked looks on veterans' faces as they fight to the death for the right not to keep their NVGs. Also, buff pistols. That'll get the blood pumping.

    Suggestion: One time Savegame

    Tents are pretty much savegames.
  24. Considering it's an anti-materiel rifle...I'm going to say "shooting holes in engine blocks." Oh, you thought you were being clever. I accidentally ruined that joke where you pretended to not know what you're talking about by showing that you actually don't.

    Pdw sucks assss

"PDW sucks, it's incredibly weak." "No it's not. Just don't try to kill people with it, problem solved." /facepalm
