Do/Can private servers set themselves up with very little loot?
Nickisis replied to Nickisis's topic in General Discussion
Even on a private server? I mean, it's just like the guy above you said, there was NOTHING. I mean, I went through two police stations that didn't have a single thing of loot in them. Not anything. Also, they had an updated admin message that flashed from time to time (this was BadBoyz private server), that stated specifically, persistence loot respawns every 2 days, this will cause all loot to respawn, tents and vehicles will reset. It does sound old, but I haven't played on any server with this little loot it was crazy. -

Played on a new private server tonight, (BadBoyz private server), 50 person private server, lite Role play, No KOS. Was a cool server, however, there was hardly ANY loot ANYWHERE. This wasn't how it became more scarce in .58, and this wasn't just on the coast. Even inland, we were rarely finding loot at all, played for a few hours and maybe only found a few cans of food. I noticed they had a message that said "Loot restarts only every 2 days". Does this mean that loot wasn't respawning? Is that why there was pretty much nothing to be found? -
This was just posted on Reddit: https://youtu.be/kp0Yl-5mUsI Supposedly a guy was playing and all of a sudden music started blaring over global chat. I seriously hope that global voice didn't somehow get enabled, talk about one of the worst things that could happen.

Had this happen to me twice last night, both times I was barricaded in a room with zombies at the entrance, dead on the floor. Tried everything, vaulted from every angle nothing would work. Both times I just waited for them to despawn and then I went through. If/when it happens again will have to try the crawling trick and/or the melee trick. Definitely would suck if you had any non-friendlies nearby though!

Killed a guy, went to look at his inventory, just a backpack and nothing else?
Nickisis replied to Nickisis's topic in General Discussion
Thanks everyone, sounds like next time I'll try putting something in it, or picking it up and dropping it, or logging. Doubt he was a fresh spawn since we were at the airfield. Don't know if he was armed since all I saw on him was a empty 16 space backpack. Doubt he was running around the airfield with nothing but a empty backpack though, was a full server and the airfield was busy. We actually ended up dying a short time later from some over-watching snipers so even if we did get some stuff from him wouldn't have mattered. Will remember all this for next time. -

So killed a guy that was charging us at the airfield, he went down with one shot. Go to look at his inventory and all we can see is a backpack and all empty slots, nothing else. Not sure if he's dead, so we shoot him 3 more times and axe him a few times. We thought this was really weird, is this part of the game now? Can you still loot people after you shoot them? -
I thought you couldn't take items from someone's backpack unless they are unconscious or dead?
-
Can you access other people's backpacks?
Nickisis replied to Nickisis's topic in New Player Discussion
Thanks everyone for the info. -
Myself and the other two people I play with are going to store some blood bags for future use, but if one of us goes unconscious can the rest of us get in his backpack to get a blood bag? Can you in general get into other peoples backpacks that are near you?

[An Ode to Rocket] Stopped playing PC games 6 years ago. Dayz brought me back.

I'm 36. I grew up in the age of Commodore 64s and 300 baud modems. Compuserve and AOL, Super NES and mall arcades. I played PC games almost exclusively in my youth, and this continued through my 20's. However when I turned 30 I was on my way to getting married, had just purchased my first house, and the Xbox took up a lot of my gaming time. I had slowly transformed from someone that bought video cards to someone that bought "accessories". Monitors had been replaced by HDTVs and joysticks with controllers. Long story short, I had become a console gamer. As time went by and consoles became mainstream and smart-phones arrived, I found myself barely even using my laptop. The desktop had long been stored in the back corner of one of my expanding families closets, hidden behind Woody, Buzz and Lego crates. Diablo 3 release dates came and went every year, perhaps the last vestige that could possibly return me to PC gaming. Then a couple months ago they announced that the game would release on May 15th. I wasn't going to break out the desktop, those days had come and past. However, I might as well see how it ran on the laptop. It ran, but at the lowest settings and with more choppiness than I could handle. I resigned myself to the fact that maybe I would purchase it, but I just wasn't feeling the old juice in the loins as I used to. Maybe PC gaming truly was dead to me. Forever. And then I read a forum talking about some new zombie mod that had been released for Arma2. I knew about Arma, had read about it, seen video and screenshots, but had not been part of the PC scene when it arrived so didn't know much about it. I saw a link to a Youtube video, the infamous CHKilroy video most of us have probably seen. I watched. I listened. I saw in front of me the perfect game unfolding. A game that did not attempt to replace reality, but instead mimic it. A game that I had dreamed of many times in my youth. Something that wasn't just run and gun, something that made you think, to have patience, to trust or run from your fellow man. I had just been introduced to the world of Dayz. Five days later I received a package via UPS. Inside I opened the new desktop I had purchased a couple days earlier. What Diablo 3 had not been able to convince me of, Dayz had. I've returned to the world of PC gaming. I am about 20 hours back in. And I am excited. Very, very, excited. Thank you Rocket, you did what no other game, not even the mighty Diablo 3 was able to. You brought me back to the world of PC gaming. -

Spawn on coast glitch with existing character.
Nickisis replied to KilltheInfected's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Spawned at the coast (should have been at the power station north of Elektro), however I had all my gear. Happened to 2 other guys in my group as well. Nobody shot me :)
