I dont have anything setup to block it.... I can ping the IP fine... pisses me off!!!! ARGH!
-
Any hints on what that maybe?? I have 3 other TS servers I connect to with no prob.
-
nothing, when I try to connect, it just says "error" (the TS voice, not a popup). the text message is just "failed to connect to server"
-
Get an error everytime I try to connect, like the IP is bad.

Maxander's Chernarus Dayz ultimate loot map V1[17454x14626]
trav replied to Maxander's topic in New Player Discussion
Again, good work Max. Only thing I would like to see is gridline/coordinates, but not sure if that is feasible. -
Top 3 Bugs you want fixed, Top 3 Features you want added
trav replied to caddrel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Fix : 1) Item duping/loss (2 I know) 2) logging to prevent dying 3) Tent placement things I want : 1) An in game item to allow comms across the server. it could be a radio, or w/e. Removal of side chat (maybe beta only) REALLY sucks. blah blah blah immersion, blah blah blah realism. I dont care. I hate not being able to talk/chatter to the server while I am playing. Not all servers host Comms, and the ones that do, not alot of ppl use them. 2) I would love to see a system for bases, or fortifications.. but I dont see it as being feasible. Once they are located, they are going to be looted and destroyed... making it a waste of time. Cant man the walls 24/7. 3) I would like to see a more randomized vehicle generation system. Once they are destroyed, they should pop somewhere randomly back on the map. Vehicles change the scale of the game 100%, and the way you play it. I dont want to see hundreds of them, but I feel like they should be a wee bit more accessible. -

Dont know how feasible this is, but wanted to put it forward. First, I know its alpha, so I know everything is subject to change, but this is a suggestion forum.... So I am putting in a suggestion! Fire, and the means of making it seem far more difficult to obtain than it should be. I appreciate it as a method to add another level of realism to the game. Here are some thoughts on how to improve on it in future patches. 1) Wood should not be that hard to come by. It is everywhere in the game. I spend more time in the woods than I do in the towns. As has been discussed, even without a knife or an axe, a man could amass a good sized quantity of wood in a short period of time. 2) Sources of ignition are too rare (as Rocket himself noted). I dont know if it would stress the servers to do this... but including objects such as flint (say along inland waterways) that would require a person to actually search for (i would prefer it to not be easy to spot). 3) Add another survival knife type that would include some form of a firestarter in the handle. 4) Lighters/matches should not be an uncommon loot item. They should spawn about anywhere. 5) Starting a fire, without shelter, in the rain, should be problematic. 6) In considering having to pack firewood... I think a better idea would be to require tinder bundles. It would not be difficult to harvest tinder, but it would take an inventory slot. 7) In collecting the tinder, there would be different grades of it. If you have no knife or hatchet/axe, then you collect a bundle of tinder that will be more difficult to ignite. Having a knife/axe would provide you with a pile of finer tinder that would be much easier to ignite. 8) If you are lighting a fine pile of tinder with a lighter, there should be very little chance of failure in getting a fire started. If lighting a roughly collected pile with flint and steel, the chance of failure should increase. If doing either of the above in damp conditions (outside in the rain) there should be a significant penalty. 9) If you are in love with the idea of firewood, then once the fire is "deployed", then you should have X minutes to feed it with fire, to keep it going. This would be a rolling timer, so you can collect wood, and continue to add to it. Just a few ideas I had for improving this one aspect of the game. I am not a survivalist, nor have I had any military or survival training. I realize that IRL (personally) without any REAL firestarting materials (lighter, firepiston, flint and steel, magnifying glass, etc) I would have little chance of making fire with a firebow, or any really primitive method of ignition. Also note, I am not proposing these solutions as absolutes. Just another step in refining the survival aspect of the game. I think it would be a mistake to remove fire from the game. But I feel like it should be much more streamlined. I am not asking to be called a carebear. I love that the game is difficult. I just believe that it should be difficult in degrees. Finding fire is one piece of the puzzle, it should not be the puzzle. Thanks. Trav

Embarrasing Death After a Week of Surviving
trav replied to I_Guts_I's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Second play session, first time playing at night. Ran off of a hill and died. Stupid darkness. -
Humanity resetting on death is a bad idea IMO. I realize it SUCKS to try to regain it (as I was a bandit for awhile) But if a bandit runs out, and whacks a bunch of ppl, steals all their gear and gives it to a friend, then suicides.... he has gotten a ton of gear thru banditry, with no negative penalty. He resets as a survivor. While I agree that humanity is not the best mechanic around, and it definitely needs work, we need to keep in mind it is alpha, and will likely change.

I think I will hold off on bitching about Rockets horrible implementation of dogs, until he has implemented them. I am not sure I get the vitriol. This is a game where your stuff is more valuable than you. I figure that if someone sees you and your dog skulking through the trees, they are going to shoot the dog... just because they dont have one. I can only imagine the nightmare of belly crawling through the yard in a town, to avoid notice, and your dog is running around upright. Complaining about an issue, that has yet to be an issue... that is trolling. Like the man said, lets try some things. If he doesnt like it, whats it matter? He could throw it all away before it even saw an alpha release. Trav

Please dont flame, I realize the basis of the game is surviving, and that death is inevitable. I love that aspect of the game. What I dont love is that (In my experience, which is admittedly limited) once I am out of ammo, I am pretty much dead. I am SORT OF ok with needing a knife to butcher an animal. I am ok with dying from starvation or hunger. I am ok with being able to die from bloodloss. But the running out of ammo, and no melee option really hurts my butt. It might be a result of my noobness (if it is, please tell me the solution) but when I am out.. I am out. Sure, I can crawl near a Zed, and maybe find some ammo on a loot pile, but when I actually loot the gear, I sit up and the Zed aggro's. I dont think that it would be unbalancing (in that it greatly impacts your ability to survive... since the odds SHOULD be against you) to have a chance of spawning ammo in some of the empty farm areas, or places like that, where zeds rarely spawn? I am not saying that it spawns 100% of the time in these locales, but if you are out of ammo, it is a carrot... Gives you something to chase, when you cant fight anything else. Hope this makes sense, sorry if it doesnt. I am typing it from work, so I am getting interrupted all the time. Stupid job...

Wow, that could add a pretty neat dynamic to maps.

I saw that thread, and wrote this assuming that melee is just plain out of the question. As a sort of alternative to the bat/crowbar/axe.... gives ya something to do when you have nothing. If there were melee weaps, I wouldnt even suggest this.

cool idea... Could be a feast if you are lucky enough to be one of the only ones near one, or one of the players to get to it first. Or it could be a deathtrap.
