    Blocking VOIP while playing Dayz

Goodness gracious, I could never imagine what horrid ramifications might follow for doing such a thing! Surely no program has ever done anything like this, ever! (Battleye, ANY anti-cheat software) Cough. =\ Sorry, I do agree with you, but your argument was just silly. Games already check what you're running, and can do that because they inform the player that they're checking what you're running. Ever read those long agreement things? Me neither.
  2. I don't think you really understand what I was saying. Zeds aren't a threat. At all. Ever. I can run into a town unarmed as it is now, loot every building in there, and not get hit by a zombie once because of how pathetic they are. I've even done this in Cherno before, because I was lucky enough that noone was there at the time. Got out with an Alice pack, med supplies, infinite food/water, and some nice guns that I'll never fire against zombies because of how worthless they are. Give it a try sometime. The only thing you need to do to not get hit by a zombie is just keep running. They'll stop, swing, then miss cuz you're gone.

My silly ass opinions on what we should expect from Day Z

Zombies aren't dead. Just for the record, y'know? They're infected humans. So..they have vital organs. I think raising their health to as much as a regular human (us players) would be a decent suggestion, but slowing them down, even with requiring headshots, always struck me as silly.
  4. Actually, I think it might just be 'too safe' to have this feature implemented. Think on this- Ignore every single weapon you find. Every one, except for the hatchet. Because it can be on your toolbelt, you can keep it there, and it won't be a weapon. Run through towns gathering Zed's behind you without a care, looting at will. When you're done, drag the zeds out of the town to a hill, and lose them. Live forever. =\ This is silly. Sorry OP, I understand your intention but this idea really just isn't how it should be done. If you can't see that, you need an unbiased opinion.
  5. @islandjack1 I want to tell you a story. Don't worry, it won't take long. Once upon a time, I was in a rather unpopulated server in Cherno. I see an unarmed survivor, who also sees me. I decide not to shoot, since I would have nothing to gain. About 5 minutes later, he comes back and kills me with a pistol he'd found. Players are dangerous, friend. End of discussion. Having them NEAR you is dangerous. They're traitorous bastards that don't care about anything you do, and getting them further away from me is top priority, most of the time.

    Blocking VOIP while playing Dayz

It would be interesting to see a Private server try and enforce this as an experiment, in that players that do not follow it would be kicked/banned, but on the hive...? It's unrealistic, even if it is a very cool idea.

    Autogenerated maps

I'm not sure how malleable the Arma Engine is regarding this kind of thing. If it is possible, I think the most feasible variant of this idea would be maintaining structure positions, but swapping out types. Ie, one server may have a lootable structure of medium value at Point A, but another server may just have a small hut. One problem I foresee is; what happens if you log out INSIDE of a building, and switch to a server that doesn't have an enterable building there?

    Run/Walk Icon & Prone/Crouch/Stand Icon

Dearest Rayken, As someone that has personally had the discussion regarding 1st person vs 3rd person multiple times already, I must fervently implore that you cease your silliness post-haste. The Arma 2 manual explicitly states that first person is the most realistic, and the game already has peripheral vision built into the engine in the form of white circles near the edges of your screen. As well, the fov is fully changeable. If, however, your opinion derives from the fact that you are an alien with prehensile eyeballs, and can see everywhere around you at once, I retract my statements. With love, Zetal

Actual solution for pve only servers

Are you enjoying shoving words into peoples mouths? Perhaps you should take your own advice, instead of just going "yes, just yes." The fact of the matter is that pve would take dev time away from the gametype that, in the end, is what dayz was envisioned as. As well, introducing pve would drastically splinter the playerbase and result in two different groups. This would seriously hinder the data gathering that rocket does on the hive. Besides THAT, running another hive would likely cause more network strain, increasing the cost and maintenance of running the game, and besides even that, pve servers would be a target for hackers that want to abuse "carebears" as they say it. The unfortunate but realistic truth is that pve servers are a pipe dream.

    Conditioning Mechanic

(About the run speed bug... http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/48958-run-speed-variance/ Look familiar? =P) Anyway, I'm actually somewhat tempted to agree to this, if it were a slow process, and one with a very high limit. Not stupidly high, but high. I'm usually opposed to stats, but this is less gamey. I like it.

    Conditioning Mechanic

I'm going to hold out on giving my opinion for the moment- Do you think you could try and write up a list of 'attributes' that would be increased over time? You mentioned steadier ADS, but a full list would be appreciated.

    Zombies are getting annoying.

Just don't get hit...Zeds need more of a buff atm, they're just jokes. If you keep running, they can't do damage.
  13. Yea...Zombies are too easy as it is, bro. Step 1: Acquire Zombies. Step 2: Find hill. Step 3: The zombies are now lost! You win!
  14. No balancing? What determines zombie numbers, strength, speed, and health? It's a fictional infection. What does it do? What do you mean by 'authentic' values? If you mean having realistic amounts of items within Chernarus, you'll have a hard time doing that since loot respawns, and the map has been so thoroughly changed from the real life Chernarus that it's barely distinguishable. Balancing is needed. Period.

    Run Speed Variance?

I only brought this up due to my observations- I have a (what might be considered) nice computer, and so I always have to stop and wait for the friends behind me that have poorer computers to catch up. In other words, wtf? lol This really just seems so silly to me. If they're going to do it this way, I think BIS needs to optimize the engine much, much more. This is ridiculous.
  16. Zetal

    Run Speed Variance?

Is it just me, or is that a bit silly? =P So basically if someone has a much better computer, and good internet, they'll run significantly faster? =\ Shouldn't that be changed? Does BIS already know about this?
  17. I like this. I'm assuming that you'll be able to add the crowbar to the toolbelt in this case though?
  18. This is a lovely sentiment, but it's just as inaccurate as the 'punish bandits' and 'stop pvp' threads. In fact, we really don't even need to reward survivors, either. We need to fundamentally rebalance the game to make it so that those who choose to be friendly are not intrinsically at a massive disadvantage. I was in Cherno last night with five random players I had teamed up with, all of us friendly. There was a single bandit. It took us around 4 hours to kill him, and 2 of us, because we could not shoot on sight. Often times we would sight him, but have to confirm that it wasn't one of the friendlies. This is the survivor disadvantage. This is the bandit advantage. Something DOES need to be done, but it isn't anything so direct as "punish bandit" or "reward friendly." It's more along the lines of "reduce food/water/ammo spawns, increase zombie difficulty massively, etc" Sound familiar? DayZ needs to be a living hell.

    Tents could be simplified

I'm also curious regarding Rocket's reasoning behind Tent Ownership.

    Zones

This doesn't belong in DayZ, sorry. You may want to look into The War Z. It's much more casual.

    Hatchet in small arms slot

I'd say no, until Zeds receive a very serious buffing.

    In game store and money

I'm not normally this brief, but because this has been suggested already.... NO Absolutely not.

    Increase view distance.

Are you certain? My friend has his VD set to 3000, and he reports a much, much shorter range of vision than me.

The Adrenaline Status - Stop ALT+F4ing

I find it very, very hard to believe that your computer or internet just 'happens' to disconnect enough DURING COMBAT that this would be an issue. It's a bit too "Red menace" of me to just flat out declare you an alt-f4 abuser, so I won't. I'll simply suggest it in a very jerk-like manner. =) Out of the 120 logged hours of DayZ or so I have (lost track, tbh), I'd say only about 3 hours were spent 'in-combat'. In other words.... Well, I wouldn't worry about it. =) I'm sure if you play legit, you won't have any issues. Ciao.

    Increase view distance.

I have mine set to 10000. Hurts my fps, but the advantage is worth it.
