    You sound like a bloody politician. Could you try and drop the arrogant tone for just a couple minutes, jump off your pedestal, and talk to the rest of us like an actual human being? Yes, there are problems with the patch, and R4Z0R has already said that he's fixing the bugs and revamping the infection system, but the difficulty is here to stay. So stop acting like a 'white knight' and making this about some faux 'realism' you've concocted and play the game. Sorry if this comes off as rude but after reading nearly five of your posts I'm just sick to death of your attitude. In my opinion it's a careful mix of both, not just one or the other, and I think that's where a lot of people get confused. It takes an understanding of the game mechanics so that you can apply the methods you've learned appropriately and quickly whenever they're needed. I wish I could make a video, but my computer just doesn't support it, unfortunately. :/

    Honestly? Yea. I don't think this patch is all that bad, but even if it was as bad as you're making it out to be, I'd be okay with it anyways. Beggars can't be choosers, and all that. This game has been obscenely easy for nearly a year now, up to the point that I hated even thinking about playing it. Someone would jokingly suggest playing DayZ and we'd all have a laugh and go "maybe when Standalone is out." But this isn't that game anymore. Sure, it might have some minor 'immersion-breaking' features, but honestly, this version makes me feel more immersed because the zombies are actually a threat now, in addition to being the buggy weirdo's that they've always been. Zombies SHOULD be a threat. And it's about damn time that they are.

    I'm a little concerned by your zeal in this post, as during my 10 hours of playtime logged in 1.7.7 I've only seen one of the issues you've brought up, that being the running around houses and not losing aggro. Though, of course, complaining about that is completely silly. Do you expect them to have the memory of a goldfish? A mouse, perhaps? Just like you, they can hear, see, and remember. If you run around a corner, it would be humorous if they simply stopped and scratched their head, like they did in 1.7.6. Zombies were a joke before this patch- something to laugh at and get bored with. Now, they are predators, like they were always meant to be. You do know that Dean referred to the zombies as 'Apex Predators'... don't you?

    If you can see a zombie, crouch-run. If he's within 20m or so, switch to crouch-walking. Never let them get closer than 15m. I usually don't go prone unless it's for something really odd, since it makes you vulnerable. Stay off of road, dirt, and other hard surfaces. Stick entirely to grass, and if you need to use road, make sure you can't see any zombies. Once you get an axe/machete, you can loot much, much faster, since even if you get zombies on you, you can kill them without taking any damage so long as you funnel them through a doorway. They won't be able to hit you if you keep running anyways, so just do that till you find a building once you've got a weapon. If you've attracted zombies before then, you can still loot pretty easily, you just gotta get good at identifying items on the ground without opening your gear menu. Picking up items takes ~1.5 seconds if you know what you want out of the pile, which is plenty of time since it takes zombies around 6 seconds to get through a doorway.

    You need to go into Controls, Custom Controls on the dropdown box, and assign Custom Control 20 to the 'Insert' key to access the journal.

    I'm not 100% sure about this, but if my math is correct I think it's literally impossible to get infected from the first hit. I don't know for sure about any subsequent hits without doing the math again, but if I'm correct, and it is indeed impossible, that discredits a great deal of the complaints that have been posted in this topic, since many of them started with 'I got infected the first time I got hit!' @hinduqsh That's a bit of a turnaround post for you, since your original suggested pretty clearly that you thought that this game was suddenly anti-pvp, pro-survival (living in the woods) and you were adamantly against that kind of thing. Blankly criticizing and demanding the development of a game completely change course to suit uninteresting, bland desires isn't conducive to creating an immersive survival game. With the help of the community, DayZ can form itself into a true survival game. And this is a good first step. Functionality before looks. That's how games are made.

    I'm sorry you feel that way. DayZ isn't and never has been focused on PvP as far back as I can remember, and unless that stance has changed officially since then, I'm sure someone will correct me. There are plenty of games out there that handle PVP combat already- but DayZ is unique in the way that it creates a truly immersive survival world. I urge you to try DayZ the way that's it meant to be played and really sink yourself into the world. You'll thank yourself for it.

    While I have you, I've been looking at the infection code, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to be based on how much blood a given player has. Wouldn't it therefore be a bit strange if people are claiming a higher rate of infection on the first time they get hit? Functionally it doesn't make any sense- so are they just fudging the truth to make themselves look better? These lines: _rndInfection = random (_damage - _bloodPercentage); _hitInfection = ((exp _rndInfection) > 1.25); I'm a bit confused what they do. Sorry if I'm being a bother.

    That's allowed, right? Normally I would have kept it to myself, but with the amount of tears... Hmm, but couldn't I have just figured it out ingame? Or... does it not actually work? It looks like it does...Admittedly, I don't know what the 'random' actually does, ie whether it's inclusive/exclusive.

    Just confirmed it. Sleeping provides a chance for curing Infection. So, antibiotics are not required, guys. Spread the word.

    C'mon now that's just ridiculous. Unless you have the worst luck in the universe, you're overstating that. I've played the current version too, obviously, and it's NOT that prevalent. At most, a 15% chance. Maybe. That's when I was /trying/ to get it so I could try and figure out the other way to cure it. If you're avoiding it, just try to avoid getting hit. If you stay mobile, they'll very rarely hit you.

    With all of the complaints regarding infection, I have to wonder if I'm doing DayZ wrong or something. I actually tried to get infected as a test, since I had recently lost my previous character, and died from getting punched to death by zombies before it happened. I'd start coughing and stuff, right? Did they change that?

    Just gonna start by saying this cheered me up, even if we still disagree- but I want to get one point clear here: this patch does need adjustments. I'm not going to sit here and argue that this patch is perfection incarnate- there are FPS issues, self-aware helicopters that want to murder you, debug-zone spawns, etc. With that in mind, however, I think the zombies emulate a despair-filled apocalypse much more accurately than previous versions ever did- except maybe the very early versions when zombies didn't even do LoS checks (lol!) but for obvious reasons that was revoked. It was unfair to players. In this version, zombies are harsh, unforgiving, and mean, but I feel that they are reasonable... for the mod. In the standalone, a difficulty level like this would be drool-worthy in my opinion, but people would be hating on it even more than they are now. Zombies with accurate pathfinding, running indoors, etc? Good lord, can you imagine the tears? Overall, I think the whiplash caused by this patch is due to the 'Hero Syndrome' in which everyone expects themselves to instantly be 'main character' worthy. I say to you all- earn that title. Don't have it given to you- that would be an insult to yourself. You're all capable of achieving success, so do it! Gogogo!

    That's kind of funny. You'd think that if the majority of DayZ players felt there was something seriously wrong, they'd come say it. Instead, it seems that there is an equal amount of people attacking and defending this patch... which would suggest the majority are completely content. It sounds like you don't actually want a zombie survival game....which really isn't DayZ's fault. Go play DayZ without the Z, then. lol

    I have. So have several others. This might help: http://dayzmod.com/f...40#entry1364612 Someone one post down also corrects me, and provides a couple other very accurate pointers. Using a mixture of these methods when appropriate can help you avoid getting hit at all, while still scoring loot. I found a helicopter on my first life- I'd probably be flying it now if it hadn't eaten me. Silly DayZ.

    Could you explain your current tactics? Myself, and many others, find the zombies are still not particularly challenging. In the interest of my own sanity, please read some of the posts we have made in this topic. They explain very simple methods of increasing your chances of survival against zombies dramatically. They really aren't that hard to deal with if you'd just put in some effort. Please!

    You can still outrun zombies.... I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Also, I actually just went and tried to get infected and couldn't manage it before I was already dead from getting hit so many times. Am I just lucky, or what? lol
