Make ammo scarce. Make DayZ HARD.
Zetal replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
+1 DayZ is fun, but too easy at the moment. Rocket wanted to explore the different choices people make- the game as it is doesn't do that. Introduce something- it doesn't have to be this- to make the game harder and more interesting. -
Just thought I'd report in and say that my join speed hasn't changed- is it possible that bandwidth is the limiting factor?

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Zetal replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You'd just need to play smarter. =P It would only make it more impressive for lone wolves to be able to survive, simply because it's meant to be more difficult than grouping together, unlike how it is now. -
The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Zetal replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
People clearly just aren't going to read through 21 pages. It's understandable, I guess. I'm done here, either way. Hopefully Rocket will see this and see potential. =) -
You want to be aggressive? Fine, it just highlights you're absolute idiocy, and refusal to acknowledge the fact that this thread is, in fact, filled with opinions other than you're own. You might want to try reading some of them. You'd realize 1) What you just said has already been stated about 4 times. 2) I've already addressed what you just stated, repeatedly. I'm not going to bother doing so again. Stop bitching about people bitching if you aren't going to show the respect and patience that peoples thoughts deserve, because you don't deserve it.

The mental image your post produced made me lol... but I think what he's saying is for them to introduce smaller-scale patches, and I'm inclined to agree. This is alpha- let the people whine and complain if a bugfix release doesn't work, or there aren't new features... there's no better way to test than using the public, and we're happy to be of help.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Zetal replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
...and that would be their choice. But right now, that's the only choice. This would make it so that banditry is no longer the only option. -
Seems...really unnecessary. I guess it would be neat, but at the same time...the devs have better things to work on- no offense meant.

Psshh come on guys, pay attention. The suggestion is right there.

Underground Bases? Opens a whole new World of possibilities...
Zetal replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't understand where your character is getting the advanced architectural knowledge to construct such places. Underground shelters in times for disasters take months to build for construction crews. This isn't a walk in the park. -
Indeed. Tents already seem to be made of cardboard- I don't think it's necessary to prioritize yet another way to destroy them.

Underground Bases? Opens a whole new World of possibilities...
Zetal replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I do actually kind of like most of these suggestions, except for the underground bases. They seem to really take away from the feel of DayZ, and, as you said, would provide a 'safe' place for stuff. It would make Tents obsolete. No thank you. By the way, if you use the Six Launcher, you can favorite servers. Protip. =P -
You can still corner cheat even with a locked camera... and besides that, making it a server choice is, in my opinion, a huge mistake. It creates imbalances between players who choose one or the other, even temporarily, and shouldn't be done in a situation like the one we have now, where all servers are linked to the same hive.

*sigh* It sorta bugs me when people don't read what I write...but I'll try again. Different avenue of approach, gogogo. 3rd Person is a serious detriment to immersion, even if I don't use it...although I'm practically forced to be on servers with people that do, anyway, due to ping and area restrictions. People who use 3rd person are ABUSING the game, and playing from some strange demi-god stance, not a survivor. Maybe neither of these are a solution. People complain about FOV. Perhaps DayZ should create a custom view, that increases FOV, reduces the weird 'seasickness' that some people are reporting, but makes it so your character can't see through time and space.
-
Here's an example. Player A gets all of his gear on a server that has 3rd person enabled. He abuses the system to get what he needs, including nice weaponry, equipment, etc. Player B gets his gear on a 1st person server, but has to play longer in order to do so, and is SEVERELY restricted in what servers he can play on, due to server ping, or settings. Player A moves over to a 1st person server, and murders everyone with his better equipment that he got by more easily avoiding zeds, and other players. As I said in an earlier post- One or the other. Not both. Both is unacceptable.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell

You didn't read this thread, did you...?* *Rhetorical question- your manner of speaking and chosen avatar describes exactly how little of the topic you read. -
Zeds should not move in players general direction until detected
Zetal replied to a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If it spoils the immersion, I don't think it should. They smell you, and move in your general direction. Simple as that. Removing this would make the game waaay too easy, and the game itself is already too easy as it is. -
There needs to be a LOT more vehicles (2x)
Zetal replied to Powell (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree about Vehicle scarcity...but why not have the best of both worlds? More vehicles that CAN be repaired, but increase the difficulty to repair them by a relative factor of how much you increased their spawn rates. Essentially, you'd keep the number of vehicles the same, but make the world a bit more immersive. -
Zombies in Day Z are not undead. Ciao.

I understand your concern, but 'classes' isn't the way to properly handle this. The solution I can see if far off in development, but would basically just serve as a way to make tasks difficult for the PLAYER to do. Games should test players, not characters. Levels wouldn't be a good solution to this. Especially not for killing zeds.
-
Those that are saying use both- You don't think that would give an obvious advantage to those that "choose" to play on 3rd Person Servers? Why would I purposefully nerf my own character? This is a good suggestion. End of discussion. Call me close-minded, elitist, whatever you wish, but this game isn't meant to be a way to relax in the afternoon- Rocket has explicitly stated that it's meant to be an immersive experiment. Introducing variables where they aren't needed is an idiotic practice if you're trying to get a good experiment. Make it 3rd or 1st person, not both. One or the other. I'd prefer 1st. People have been saying "Oh 3rd person is more realistic." If that's because of peripheral vision, then that's idiotic. My peripheral vision doesn't permit me to see every direction simultaneously. You know what I use for that? My ingame sound. For those of you saying that BI said 3rd person is more realistic... you're wrong, or you're misquoting them. "1st Person View This is the default view mode, which lets you view the game from your character’s perspective. It is the most realistic and immersive mode, and is ideal for controlling characters on foot." From the Arma manual, written by BI. GG. Ciao.

I'm not really 100% in support of this idea, as it takes away from the coordination required behind running a group successfully. Constantly reporting locations and have caution is necessary for all members. It brings to mind the issue regarding the hover-names when you aim at people, though. On certain servers, this is disabled completely, and on others it's on completely. Would be nice to have it on, but just with a smaller distance, or you can 'Name' players, and they won't appear unless you've manually tagged them in your mind. I think I saw a post like this somewhere, though...

I've never actually driven an ATV, but if this is a reproducible bug, it should be brought up with Bohemia Interactive, I think, not the Dayz devs. Good luck. Edit: I'm referring, of course, to the random flipping.

Well...besides all the troll comments, this IS a bad idea. Even with separate servers and character saving, you're still splitting the population in such a way that the primary victims of a large group of players would suddenly be gone, and be perfectly safe. To be honest, these servers wouldn't be worth the development time, and would fall flat within a couple weeks, once the people in the servers learned how to play the game, and figured out how boring just fighting zombies is. I'm not a bandit. I avoid PVP. But I don't want it gone. It makes the game interesting in such a way that very few other games can replicate. I do not want this implemented, and if it ever is... It shouldn't be official. It's a waste of dev time. Thems the breaks. Ciao.

+1 Could have some unseen issues, but what better time to try than now? =P
