I usually play on my macbook pro resting on my lap while i'm in bed :) i used to be a hardcore gamer with the duel screen setup etc but a fast laptop is much more efficient and comfy :)

We have a bandit story section, but not a normal player story section. Maybe make a suggestion for one?

This happened to me also, completely randomly. -

MERGED: Everything poop and pee
Jasper (DayZ) replied to grandpa_smuckers's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I actually just burst out laughing :D I would love to see these features implemented for sheer comedic value ;) -
It seems there is quite an emphasis on realism within the DayZ universe. 24 hour day/night cycles, broken bones, fatigue, hunger, thirst etc. Such an emphasis on realism would imply these features would actually be realistic, right? I think not, at least not yet. In reality, one could survive at least 3 days without water, a month without food. In DayZ, you couldn't survive anymore than a few hours before blood starts myraculously squirting out of your body and your character dies a painful death. This isn't realistic! I suggest that the hunger/thirst system is revamped at some point during development. Perhaps making it a little more realistic. For example, thirst should last half a day before seeing effects, hunger should last 6 hours before we suffer fatigue. Maybe make the hunger/thirst level depletion relative to player activity/time running etc. Anyone else share the same thoughts?

You're right, well spotted. I can join US servers in only a few seconds, but all the EU servers take ages. Most of the time I quit because it takes so long!

I believe this is a glitch. It happens to me too :( Just hold out till the next patch and hope it is fixed :)

I really like DayZ, but...
Jasper (DayZ) replied to Angry Guy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd have to disagree. Leaning round corners is incredibly easy, and entering vehicles uses the most used menu in the game (mouse wheel scroll). I bet most of these new players never play on vanilla Arma 2 or any of the other servers. If DayZ has done anything, it is good for the Arma community. Introducing a needed boost to the player count. -
How do you Pronounce the name?
Jasper (DayZ) replied to Finch (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket himself said it was pronounced "Day Zee". Here in the UK we say "zed", though. -
I haven't seen another thread related to this issue so I thought I'd make one. I keep teleporting back to the shore when I log in. This could be related to the food and drink draining while I'm offline. This is becoming quite a large problem for me. I'm afraid to log in now because all my progress will be lost if I get teleported back to the shore!

With that grammar I doubt it! :P -
PC Gamer article with features to come
Jasper (DayZ) replied to billyangstadt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is what us modder dream of achieving, and Rocket has done it :) well done, all this publicity is well deserved. -
The way I avoid the day/night system is by playing a server where it is day. So I basically never play at night. This system is therefore flawed. I would play just as much night as day if the UK servers had a faster day/night cycle. Maybe 24 hours = 6 hours or something.

How the bandits took everything from me
Jasper (DayZ) replied to Displaced (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is one the things I love so much about this mod. Everyone has a story to tell. That was a great story, and nicely written :) -

How do you survive as a lone wolf?
Jasper (DayZ) replied to The Killing Joke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am just very careful. I'm currently roaming the mid-west area searching for food and water supplies. I never walk out into the open without spending a few minutes watching the area for other survivors. Before getting close to a building or town I'll use my binoculars to scan the area and understand where all the zombies are. I'll then carefully plan my entry to the buildings. If I alert any zombies, I'll basically just run for it, but that hasn't happened on this character yet. Today I was climbing a hilly forest area up to a small village. I heard gunshots and the first thing I did was hid by a tree and used my binoculars to find the survivors. The shots got louder, then all of a sudden 3 survivors came running over the hill and through the forest, followed by about 30 zombies. Luckily I was still crouching behind a tree at this point. The survivors and the horde ran passed, and I escaped thanks to my patience. Little did they know, I had just come from a farm, full of zombies. They were heading straight for it! :) I haven't fired a single shot with this character, except for the bandit at the beginning with all that loot! If you find a map, work out where you are and choose a nearby town to loot. It will give you an objective :) -

Am I missing something? As far as I'm aware, he said the next update will include some related work to DayZ. i.e related bug fixes etc.

MMOs yes' date=' but this isn't exactly an MMO. I didn't say that, I said they are also to blame for not giving us a list of rules and for not applying a system to stop this behaviour. Wrong. I've been modding for the best part of 4 years. Tell that to the people that put Arma in the top 3 on Steam. It is clear the DayZ devs aren't prepared for this quantity and certain rules need to be put in place. I still haven't found a list of rules.

Everything set as low as possible :). I run it on my laptop!

Arma2's big rise to the top.
Jasper (DayZ) replied to Nijihakai's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I considered waiting for a sale, but my impatience took over and I bought CO for £25 on Steam. The best £25 I've spent in a while, not only for DayZ, but for the awesomeness that is Arma II <3 -
I've never hacked or cheated and I never will, but am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous? We've never even seen any rules, yet people are being perm-banned from the WHOLE game for "breaking the rules". I think these people should be punished, but they shouldn't be perm-banned forever. At least not from the whole game. It is just as much the dev's faults for not having anti-hacking systems in place. In every multiplayer game I know, if you hack or cheat, you will maybe be given a warning, then you will be banned from the SERVER you hacked on, not the whole game. This isn't even the problem, the fact that you are banning people that just picked up loot from a hacker is simply ridiculous. What if I just bought Arma2 just to play this mod. I have no experience with the weapons, yet I get perma-banned for looting someone. £25 WASTED. In my opinion, it is just as much the dev's faults as it is the hacker, for not having a system in place that stops this activity. Why not create a script that kills the player once the illegal weapon is in their inventory? Or at least deletes the weapon before they can use it. DON'T ban for it, as that is incredibly unfair, especially to newbie players like myself. You should certainly make the rules more clear.
