    Build 1.5.8 rolling update

Only if you want your connection to be slower than dial up. My connection can handle torrent traffic. Once more then a few people have the update, it'll be the fastest way to distribute it.

    Build 1.5.8 rolling update

I downloaded the entire update allready. Could I create a torrent for it so people having the 500 error can download it?
  3. So whats your opinion on the Expert or Hardcore difficulty? I'm thinking of changing Chicago 13 over to a Hardcore server due to the lack of them, and that fact that hardcore is way more fun to play. Correct me if i'm wrong, but "Expert" mode (aka hardcore) turns off cross hairs(*Not sure on this), name tags, and third person.
  4. Hi Everyone! I'm the owner of Chicago 13, which was just launched this morning. I wanted to make a post here to introduce myself and say hi to the community! I'll be watching the server like a hawk to ensure the most stable playing environment for everyone. I'll also be rolling out patches as soon as i'm able to get my hands on them. The server: Hostname: dayz01.sykotix.com Server Title: DayZ Zombie RPG - Chicago 13 (v1.5.7) dayzmod.com - Sykotix/UnrepentantGaming/Rangers Slots: 50 Difficulty: Currently Regular, Will be raising up to Expert(Hardcore) with third person ON tonight. I'm planning on upping the slots on this server slowly. I want to see how it performs at 50 players, then I'll up it to 64. If the community receives the 64 player limit well, and the box can take the load, we'll push the limit up to 76 players. The server itself is a pretty beefy server, so i'm not too concerned with the hardware requirements. The port is 100mbit, so ping shouldn't be an issue for most. If anyone feels motivated to donate, feel free to donate via paypal. My paypal address is [email protected]. If I receive enough requests (Or even better yet, donations!) I'll also put a Teamspeak 3 server up for the public to use on that server as well. I've also been thinking of putting a *small* discussion forum together for that server as well. If anyone needs to contact me, I'm available via: [email protected]

    Chicago 13 Information

Well, that answers that. As soon as I update to 1.5.8 (downloading now) I'll throw a TS3 up.

    "Expert" difficulty mode

Oh wow. I just looked up the profile file information for ARMA2. Thank you! So I'm most likely going to put the server in Expert mode with Third Person turned on!
  7. I restarted twice this morning trying to fix the monitor script. Both times the hive worked normally for me.
  8. I'm the Administrator of the Server that my DayZ server runs on, so I have access to see the console which logs all of the chatter. I believe It also saves chatter in the logs as well, so when I ban someone, I always take the snippet out of chat that they were banned for, incase they dispute it. Other admins who only have admin password access could take a screen shot instead.

    "Expert" difficulty mode

Well, we have a Dallas server that's in Veteran Mode, which just turns off Nameplates. I don't think you can turn off cross hairs without turning off third person. Thats all classified under the "expert" mode. Currently there isn't a way without modifying the mod files(which is against the rules Im pretty sure) to turn on and off on a per feature bases.

    Timing of Patch 1.5.8

I'm connected to my normal server just fine' date=' but there are between 1 and 50 zombies only, so no loot is spawning. It's been that way all day. [/quote'] Yea last night the server was @ 0 zombies. Eventually it went 30, untill people started killing them. Any idea what causes that? Is it because people are camping in cities? Maybe in the woods? Or is it an issue with the main/game server? I think the Zero Zombies isssue is an issue involving the hive connector that runs on the server. If you restart both the server and hive, the zombies normally come back.
  11. So, the program seems to be working on Windows Server 2008 R2. I did notice one error though AFTER my inital setup of the program. I opened the program once, and configured everything. I clicked start, and nothing happened. I noticed "No Config Found!" in the log, so I figured I needed to restart it. I restarted the application and received the following error: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.InvalidOperationException: No process is associated with this object. at System.Diagnostics.Process.EnsureState(State state) at System.Diagnostics.Process.EnsureState(State state) at System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessHandle(Int32 access, Boolean throwIfExited) at System.Diagnostics.Process.Kill() at ArmaWatchDog.Form1.btn_stop_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.0.30319.261 (RTMGDR.030319-2600) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v4.0.30319/mscorlib.dll ---------------------------------------- ArmaWatchDog Assembly Version: 1.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 1.0.0.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/Administrator/Desktop/dayzmodserverwatchdogv2/ArmaWatchDog.exe ---------------------------------------- Microsoft.VisualBasic Assembly Version: 10.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 10.0.30319.1 built by: RTMRel CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/Microsoft.VisualBasic/v4.0_10.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll ---------------------------------------- System Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.0.30319.261 built by: RTMGDR CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Core Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.0.30319.233 built by: RTMGDR CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Core/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Core.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.0.30319.235 built by: RTMGDR CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Windows.Forms/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Windows.Forms.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Drawing Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.0.30319.276 built by: RTMGDR CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Drawing/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Drawing.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Runtime.Remoting Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.0.30319.1 (RTMRel.030319-0100) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Runtime.Remoting/v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Runtime.Remoting.dll ---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. 12. Shortly after your server starts look at the ARMA2OASERVER.RDP file in your /cfgdayz/ folder If vehicles are spawning you should see something like this: 5:16:59 "OBJ: 17568TentStorage" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 17704hilux1_civil_3_open_EP1" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 17824Fishing_Boat" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 17884SkodaRed" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 17945ATV_CZ_EP1" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 18126Lada1_TK_CIV_EP1" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 18368ATV_CZ_EP1" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 18430UAZ_Unarmed_TK_CIV_EP1" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 18490hilux1_civil_3_open_EP1" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 18550SkodaRed" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 18611Lada1" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 18792ATV_CZ_EP1" 5:16:59 "OBJ: 18852UAZ_CDF" If vehicles are not spawning because the devs haven't added them to your mission instances then you will see tents/wires/etc. spawn but no vehicles. I only have one OBJ: line in my log file: 12:01:18 "OBJ: 37016Wire_cat1"

How big will the aggro radius be for Chemlights? I hope they're low. Chemlights are really the only thing that makes it possible to do night missions without pumping your gamma all the way up >_<.

    Stashing Stuff?

Tents stay persistent. You can put a tent down, and put stuff in it. It'll stay across server restarts, (As long as your character saved before the server restarts). Things you drop on the ground are effected by the cleanup process that runs on the server at intervals that i'm currently unaware of. So in otherwords, be safe and leave your shit in a tent. Tents can hold ALOT. Your gambling by leaving stuff on the ground. I have a tent hidden away on a server that has all my extra shit in it. When I need to get something, I log into that server, and do the run to my secret hiding spot, hope no one found it, and loot my tent.

    Timing of Patch 1.5.8

I don't know their technical setup, but I believe their huge bottle neck is the central SQL server that everyone connects too. I noticed when I set my server up that the hive makes a mysql connection. With so many people hammering that SQL database, I can see why rocket wouldn't want to take everything down at prime time all at once. Everyone reconnecting to the DB would be way too much for mysql. I don't think mysql was ever meant to take that kind of beating. I also doubt they have the resources in place to limit or manage a massive amount of connections that this update will cause, so manual organization and management of this patch is going to be key.
  17. Hello! I'm having an issue setting up my server, and I was hoping someone could spare a few minutes to hep me out. I know the development team is super busy. I've gotten everything setup and configured on the server with some help from Matt H via email, but im having an issue running the hiveauth.exe application. The IP I gave to matt for my server is the IP that the dayz server daemon would be listening on. Would you guys also need the IP that the server would be making outgoing mysql connections on, so you can whitelist that as well?

IF this was an actual game...

I wouldn't be opposed to paying a smaller monthly subscription fee to play this game. Honestly, I would start the game at something between $3-$5 a month. $3 at 1000 active subscribers, you would still be getting in 3 grand a month. I'm pretty sure that would be enough to run the Hive(Please correct me if i'm wrong. I don't know your running expenses). And lets face it. This game is going to get big. It's going to get real big. Your going to have more than 1000 subscribers. I could also see some type of F2P option too, but something that limits the players. Like F2P characters need to drink and eat way more often then subscription players, would be a good compromise I think. Allows people to demo the game and do everything... It's just way more of a challenge :P.
  20. I just read a thread that said to PM tonic. Was gonna do that.
  21. Not sure. I emailed both the dev team address and Matt. Matt gave me an instance ID. I was intending on doing the setup myself. Could someone move me into that group?

No you didn't. You made me want to join them. If I die in game, I don't care. I'm still having fun playing with these guys. And who cares what they use for voicechat? The quality difference is minimal, and if TS3 is REALLY that big of a deal; I own a hosting company; I'll donate one. You on the otherhand, are just making yourself out to be a shit headed troll. I don't like playing with shit heads, regardless of how tactical they are.

    Please take my money!

I would love to help out in some way as well. This mod has HUGE(I need a bigger word than huge for this) potential. If donating server hardware/bandwidth or money for hosting will help, I would be more than willing. This mod actually replaced an MMO I was playing. I could defiantly justify throwing $15 a month to DayZ JUST because of that. DayZ is in it's infancy still. For it to replace an MMO (SWTOR) that was in development for years, is huge considering DayZ is only going to expand and get much better in the near future. I'm a Network Engineer, and a Server Engineer (Windows and Linux) and I also dabble in web development as well, so if any of my skills could help, I would gladly even donate time and skills. :)

    Bandits and Self Defense

I would like to see the Bandit system work like this... You don't get the bandit skin until you murder someone AND after you murder someone, you die. Once you respawn, your a bandit until it wears off. I think this gives it a much more realistic feel. Think of the Bandit skin as a "Death Sentence". If you don't get caught or killed, no one knows your a bandit until you are killed.
