  1. I don't know about you guys, but the subscribe links on this forum work very well for me. Everything community management wise seems very very disorganized to me, when it comes to DayZ. It's hard to get a hold of the Developers without contacting each one individually. I'll be lucky if I get a reply back from one of them within a day(These guys are busy, so I don't blame them for this). This often causes the developers to overlap when troubleshooting things IMO (I had two developers troubleshoot the same problem a few days ago, because the second dev wasn't aware that the first dev had allready fixed my issue. The Second dev broke it again while troubleshooting. It took another 2 days for another developer to fix it again, so the server was down for a total of 3 days because of this.) Personally, What I would like to see is a better website and server support group. I've been trying to get myself added to the Server Hosts group for almost two weeks now. The developers that I've asked so far, don't have the ability to do it, and I feel like I've missed out on a lot of information that could of helped me setup my server much quicker. Having a team (Like the one Mojo is attempting to setup), that's properly trained, and responsible for assisting other Server Hosts on the website and IRC, I think would take a lot of demand for support off the shoulders of the development team, and allow them to get back to developing the game. The "Support" team can resolve all of the issues which are common mistakes on the server owners part, and escalate bugs, and advanced issues to the development team so they only need to deal with whats important. The support group can even handle the update requests. I've allready seen numerous very tech savy people step up and volunteer to be a part of Mojo's Community support team, including programmers who have built their own monitor and admin utilities which work better than some of the DayZ official tools. I think this support team idea would be a very good step for DayZ.
  2. Fred. I Pmed you a link to the dev files.

    Is rocket satisfied with us?

My favorite aspect about DayZ is how accessible the development team is. For once I don't feel like I'm on the other side of the glass when you guys are making announcements and replying to forum topics. I think that's why I haven't touched Diablo III since the release day. I also get to see this game from a standpoint that many of the players don't get to see it, as a DayZ Gameserver host. I have a heavy background in IT, so I can truely appreiciate the technical conversations that I have with members of the development team on IRC.

    The "Lazy Owner" Issue

Mojo is working on getting a Server support team together. It's not an official DayZ support team, but it'll get the Job done. The DayZ dev team tends to keep to themselves, so I doubt we'll be seeing any Developer endorsed support teams. Not to mention, the devs have enough on their plate allready. Option 3 may have worked when this game was in it's infancy, but considering you need a minimum of a $70 a month server to run a 50/50 server, the dev team wouldn't be able to take on that type of fiscal responsibility. The current system works fine. The server owners supply the servers and maintain them. The Devs get 200+ servers to test with for free. I don't see locking servers as being a viable solution either. There are tons of reasons someone might want to downgrade, or not upgrade yet. I personally don't upgrade until it's been out for an hour or so. The auto updater would be a good choice, and I'm sure could even be coded by a member of the community here.
  5. If by "achieve this" you mean "cure you of your murderous habits or put a boot in your skull"' date=' then YES! :) [/quote'] Darn, I don't think we're the right fit then. Welp, good luck to yall!

I heard that servers are actually giant spaceships' date=' and the game is brought to me by those space ships shooting "game lazers" into my computer. Does Firedaemon make sure my computer doesn't catch fire from the lazers? [hr'] I just got rcon working. Strangly the rcon application won't connect to a host if it's on the same box. I can connect externally fine.

This one: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9647 I set my rcon password in both the configs in the ARMA II AO BE directory and the profile directory. I'm essentially having the same issue that this guy is: http://dayzmod.com/forum/archive/index.php?thread-1904.html
  9. I like murdering survivors and wearing their intestines as hats. Can you help me achieve this?

Hey Mojo, do you know much about setting up rcon? I'm not sure if my rcon is properly setup. I found a few different battleeye config files, and I'm not sure which one is the one thats actually being used.

    Possible cheating?

    ulanthorn == 1337 hax0r?
  12. I added my server. Personally, I would get rid of Flexigrid. How are you storing everything? In a MySQL db, or spreadsheet?
  13. I think it's a deeper issue. The dev team is looking at it right now.
  14. Ya. I have no clue where to get it.
  15. Still having issues with this. I e-mailed and Pmed all the devs on IRC. Still haven't heard anything back.

I'm at work ATM, but I'll hopfully get a chance to hop on in 7 or so hours.
  17. I haven't done any file editing. I think the server may have been black listed from too many mysql connection attempts. One of the last crashes caused my monitor to go insane and open 20 instances of hive and hiveauth.

    Volunteer Community Server Team

Mojo, I'm glad someone finally came out and said this. The development team, although they have been helpful in solving alot of server issues, it's painfully obvious the large amount of work they have piled up on their plates. I think a Volunteer Server support group would be a HUGE step in the right direction, considering the amount of issues that tend to pop up when running a DayZ server. It'll help the developers get back to whats really important. Fixing issues that the server hosts can't. :) If your looking for Volunteers, I would like to help. I may also know someone else who is currently developing a tool to ease DayZ server administration who might want to join up as well.
  19. I do the same Move that Mojo Does. I have a TOS and EUP that covers the entire physical machine that everything runs on. So if you misbehave and violate one of those rules, I bypass the DayZ server ban directly, and they end up getting banned directly on the firewall. Luckly most of the people who play on Dallas 13 and Chicago 13 are pretty cool though, so bans have been low. (I actually don't think we have any right now, besides bans from Pre-DayZ gameservers)
  20. Lemme know if you need a tester. The monitor that the DayZ staff is working on has a bug in it that they're having issues fixing, so I've just been running the server without a monitor and restarting it manually when it crashes. Your monitor so far does everything we need, including the hive restart which is very useful.
  21. My ao server keeps crashing maybe once or twice dailey with a windows exception error. Would be great if we can figure out a way to restart on that also. Here is the crash I keep having: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: arma2oaserver.exe Application Version: 1.60.87.548 Application Timestamp: 4ef1cd28 Fault Module Name: arma2oaserver.exe Fault Module Version: 1.60.87.548 Fault Module Timestamp: 4ef1cd28 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00081296 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.274.10 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt
