  1. Dizzy, there is a server hosters group on google groups. PM ander to get an invite. The server hosters forum on here isn't updated all that much either. Also Dizzy, check your e-mail. Something pretty important that you'll be interested in.

    Filming Server - Crew Only

I've heard this from more than a few people actually, and it's been going on off, and on now for a little while. I'm pretty sure it's been brought up before. I find it a little unfair that Bashur can do that, while ALL of the other server hosts, who are the ones financially AND LEGALLY responsibly for their servers, can't even ban users from there own servers. Chicago 13 has it's own public TeamSpeak 3 Server. Due to legal privacy guidelines that AS A COMPANY(I host everything under my own LLC) I am LEGALLY responsible to follow, I must display an EuP, Privacy Policy, and ToS in my Teamspeak. All of these combined policy's protect the players privacy while using the Teamspeak server. This includes channel Spying IF they are in a passworded channel, and their names are NOT on the access list(This is just a written list in the description of the channel). If either the passworded condition OR the access list condition are not met by the channel, then that policy isn't valid, and channel spying is allowed. Now if a user does violate that policy, and somehow gains access to that channel without being allowed in, I am legally required to drop all connections that user makes to my servers. I host out of a datacenter, where I run all of my own equipment. So when I stop accepting packets of data from a user, I do this at the firewall level. This in-turn forces all of my servers to stop receiving and sending data with that user... including my DayZ servers. If I do not do this, and someone makes a big enough fuss about it, My service contracts can be terminated. I know atleast two other server hosts here who are in that same position. There are most likely more who are, and just haven't said anything, or who don't know they are. The DayZ team in the past, has said that banning people even in that way is against the rules and our server can be blacklisted for that. So is the DayZ Dev team saying that if we, as the servers hosts, who are financially and legally responsible for our servers, take actions legally required of us to protect someones privacy while connected to our services, we'll be black listed for that? Yet Bashur can ban everyone from their server who makes their streaming movie look bad?

DayZ has become Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch

You know... Once the Zombie AI is improved a little more, it would be interesting to see how this Death Match Style play would hold up on a server where the number of zombies was 3 or 4 times as high as the other servers. I imagine more people would stick together and work together considering you kinda would have to in order to survive...
  4. Hello, I've had a server running the past few days. After a crash last night, I went to restart everything, and received the following errors on both hive.exe and hiveauth.exe. << HIVE AUTH >> Attempting mySQL connection... Could not connect to database. First attempt failed, are you whitelisted? My server was whitelisted by Matt(Or Vipeax, not sure which one) a few days ago, and as far as I can tell was running fine before the crashes. The server IP is 66.90.74.203.

    "Waiting on Server Response"

Are there recommendations on restarting the Hive as well?
  8. Even in an Alpha exploiting the game in this fashion is unacceptable. Tell me this. Do you think Vehicle Spawn and Weapon Spawn hackers should be Banned? And do you think rocket is wrong for the bans he has allready placed for them? Because I don't see how these guys are any different. They're using a hole in the game to give themselves a massive advantage(Which is clearly against the conduct rules that the development team has put in place). Not only that but their intentionally causing inevitable loss for all of the people who they are killing. There is a huge difference between testing a game for exploits and then actively using those exploits. If they reported the exploit when they found it, and it's in the process of being fixed, then I say fuck it. Let them have fun with the hole they found and helped patch. If they're milking this for all they can though, I say fuck them. They're making more work for the development team, and just pissing people off.
  9. dayzcfg is the game of the rcon session thats kicking the player. Alot of DayZ servers have auto kicks for high ping. That's what it most likely is.

    Do the Dev's Ever Respond?

Do you need some type of specific access that a server host cannot give you? I don't think rocket is going to be giving out hive logs to a random stranger. However if the logs you need are located on the game server end, I could provide you a small (8 slot) server to test with.
  11. Yup, well there's your problem :P Once you have 1:1 let me know how it all works out :)

    Is rocket satisfied with us?

Please do explain this. Dude' date=' I get exactly what he's saying. Look at what all of the big game company's are turning into nowadays? EA sells downloadable content... on release day. They use online passes to charge people who buy used games, and to charge them subscription fee's ONTOP of xbox live fee's. Thats why they got voted Worst Company by Consumerist. And look at what happened with Blizzard this week. Hundreds of people have claimed that their accounts have been hacked. People with the authenticater are claiming they've been hacked. It's all over the gaming and tech media. It even surfaced up on infosecurity-magazine.com. Blizzard Denies that anyone hacked them, and says that an "Extremely Small" amount of people contacted them regarding an account hacking. Then they slap everyone in the face again by reminding the people who got hacked to take proper security measures to secure there accounts. They've done similar things in WoW. Your sending a message to company's like EA and Blizzard, letting them know that you can have a sizable impact on THEIR industry (I mean.. come on. Lets face it, they're buying out EVERYONE). Look at what you did to the steam leaderboards. You can start a fucking revolution in the gaming industry. If your truly passionate about what your doing, people will help you find a way to pay for it. Accepting enough money that's required to develop and maintain the game, isn't being greedy in my opinion. I mean fuck man, you could turn into an organization like CentOS, or FreeBSD and go the non profit sector. I haven't done much research on whats out there for 501c3's and gaming, but I bet you could gain alot of support going that route. The world is changing man. Today's generation of people are starting to wake up and see the bullshit that the government, mass media and corporations lay on their plates. A revolution in the gaming industry is whats needed right now. And with whats going on in the world today, a ton of people would totally get behind a project that does just that.*cough*dayz*cough*. You hate taking donations right? What is your stance on volunteers? I for one would jump at the opportunity to work with the DayZ Dev team. I'm a Microsoft and Redhat Network Engineer, with a giant love for games. Being able apply my skills to help build DayZ would be amazing. There is a Volunteer Server Admin group being made by Mojo right now, that would be perfect for that. A Knowledgable group of admins and engineers is what you guys need to handle the loads of server support requests we see on the forums every day. [/quote'] I don't think a standalone game would send any different message. "Look, he did a mod and people loved it, now he can make a game without any publisher being a dickhead and trying to dictate what he can put in his game. It means we all can do this, it means there are no rules for what game should be. It means we can have our products, our ways, and still compete with the big shots". Exactly. It sends a message out to all of the big guys in gaming out there saying that this independent developer was able to make a game that rivals the shit out of your games. And it's not even a game. It's a mod. It's a mod that's DIFFERENT. The message being sent is that the gaming industry needs change. I could see DayZ being a Community Supported game.

    server issue

Also log on irc and ask the devs there.
  16. Your running pfsense 2.0 right? Check your 1:1 nat settings. It sounds like an issue with those settings. http://www.hpchost.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=180# Can you screen shot your 1:1 nat, and firewall pfsense config pages,(Any any other page thats in that url i linked above) and just remove any private info? I'm at work ATM, but I could provide more help on teamspeak in about 4 hours when im home from work. Essentially, he has a Dedicated server with a bunch of public IP's. He installed ESXi on that box, and made a bunch of guests. He wants to use pfsense as an actual firewall on one of those guests for his virtual machine network. This way he binds all of his public IP's to the pfsense guest, and that controls where all the traffic goes on a more granular level. Essentially a small server farm in a single esxi box. :P
  17. Can you describe your Setup a little more? Is pfsense running on a separate box, or are you running pfsense as an esxi guest and creating another private network inside esxi itself, and using pfsense to do the NATing? It sounds like your not setting up your VIPS correctly. What type of VIP did you make(CARP, other?). And I assume you have a dedicated public IP for each server? Did you setup your 1:1 NATing correctly? Read these two articles: http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/What_are_Virtual_IP_Addresses%3F http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/1:1_NAT That should point you in the right direction. If your also virtualizing pfsense, than you need to create another virtual network inside ESXi as well, to act as your internal LAN for all of the servers.

    Server on Linux

I second this. The second a linux binary is released, the server hosting community is going to blow the fuck up.
  19. Those aren't bad prices for Managed Servers. Do you guys have any pricing for Unmanaged Server, with ESXi 5?
  20. Everything is allready accessible to the public. If you know the URL you can download the file. The server hosts have just been good with keeping a wraps on all of that stuff. There is a similar discussion to this going on at: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=6550&pid=65852#pid65852 I posted an idea there that I think could really help the player and server host community of DayZ.
