    Best Sniper Rifle

Out of the snipers I have used so far, I like the AS50 the most. It's easy to use once you get accustomed to zeroing, it's silent and because of its great stopping power you won't have to worry about players disconnecting to avoid death as much (hell, even a shot to the feet will kill him).
  2. People really need to stop with all of this amateur psychology bullshit. I will most of the time kill anyone I see if it's not a friend of mine. Why? Because it's fun. Plain and simple. I don't do it to deprive someone else of their fun, but if I have to do it to have fun myself, then so be it. That's a part of basically every shooter. I think that we can all agree that it's fun to kill and sucks to get killed. The main difference here between DayZ and other shooters is that DayZ has a slower pace to it.

Secondary weapon: PDW or M9SD ?

I would recommend the M9 SD. As a sniper you don't want to reveal your position, so it can be handy to have if you need to kill zombies without revealing yourself. It's difficult to keep it supplied, though, so you should only use it against zombies when they are in the way.
  4. Why should it be made even harder to loot the barracks? It's hard enough for lonewolves and smaller teams to loot it already, with all of the bandits and serverhoppers around. Making it significantly harder would just create an even wider gap between the large clans and the smaller groups, aswell as promoting serverhopping within the barracks even more in order to avoid the zombies.

    Help? Bodies not found.

I'm not sure, but I believe the body will sink into the ground if the player you killed hit ALT+F4. I have killed multiple bandits with good loot, and often see their bodies sinking through the ground.
  6. Of course I have to "ruin" someone else's fun to have fun myself. It's the same in all PvP games; it's fun to kill and it sucks to get killed. The only difference between DayZ and other shooters is that DayZ has a slower pace, and both the reward for killing someone and the punishment for dying is greater.

    Polana

At the Berezino hospital. It's to the northeast of Polana and not too far off. If you properly navigate through the woods without losing yourself, it shouldn't take too long to get there.

What weapon was underwhelming to you?

The DMR is a great sniper once you learn how to use it. I would recommend practising with it in ARMA2 SP or Coop.
  9. Start hunting players. And don't worry, you will die and lose the contents of your tents eventually, so then you will get to collect it all over again.

    Freeside Trading Co.

It would be great if forums could be set up where trade deals could be arranged beforehand. If the FTC ends up getting a good reputation, I think that players would dare to trade high end loot under their watch. I hope that the leaders will be up for this, since keeping the trading strictly ingame would make it too limited. I mean, players with good gear would not want to run into a bandit ambush every single time they attempt to trade.

    Barbed Wire Getting Annoying

Yes. Especially firehouses are being sealed off by serverhoppers, so they can keep the loot for themselves. The barbed wire is also often placed in odd ways, making it impossible to remove it from the outside. Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. It needs to be easier to remove barbed wire (you shouldn't have to aim at a tiny area) and it also needs to be made less common. As of now, it's readily available in both firehouses and markets from what I have seen. Hell, I would not mind it being removed altogether until it has been sorted out.

Raiding DNZ. (Story) (Cords to Base)

I found a fully repaired GAZ there. One vehicle less for abusive admins :).

    Is this your tent?

  14. I will take that as a "yes". That comment would have a point if the OP was acting like a jerk about it, but all I see is a frustrated player making a civilized complaint about a major issue without trashtalking the mod and the dev team.
  15. So everyone should just stay quiet and keep their complaints to themselves because the "shut up, it's an alpha"-crowd gets butthurt otherwise?
  16. Yeah, it's very annoying when that happens. But at the same time I think it's understandable that people are disconnecting to avoid death; since almost every bandit — and many survivors — abuse it, you are going to be put to a disadvantage if you don't do it yourself. The only way to counter it for now is to finish off anyone you are about to kill as fast as you possibly can. I killed a bandit sniper earlier today, by emptiying 7 shotgun shells into his face in rapid succession just to be on the safe side. His body started sinking through the floor, which leads me to believe he hit ALT-F4, but luckily I managed to loot his gear in time. I have even seen unarmed spawners disconnect to avoid death — probably out of spite to deprive me of a kill. I started shooting a spawner on the firestation roof and he disconnected almost immediately, and later on I kneecapped another unarmed survivor so he got overrun by zombies. He disconnected aswell although he would have been better off dying so he could have started over.

    About time, a ATV!

That's unfortunate. I found an ATV aswell not too long ago. I was in a hurry to get it into safety, so I drove it at full speed off the road to take a shortcut over an open field, and then it flipped over and I broke my neck. When I returned to see if the ATV was intact it was completely burnt out :(.

    North East Airfield Rescue!!!

You can easily find that gear within 30 minutes, just so you know. There's alot of buildings in Chernogorsk where you can easily evade the zombies and loot for "low tier" weapons, and once you have some basic gear, you can spend a few minutes walking to the airstrip and medic camp near Balota for military grade weapons.

    crazy people with stuff (cheaters?)

They were probably clan members that had been farming the barracks. If you are enough players you can farm the barracks in relative safety (by picking up all of the items there and dropping them outside, making the loot respawn). It's also possible that they have been abusing admin powers to create a safe environment for themselves or used duping exploits, but there's no way to tell unless there's proof. I would not be surprised, though, since too many server admins seem to be corrupt and abuse admin powers for their own gain.

realiable server to put tent on?

I have had good experiences with DE2 and DE4 myself. No unannounced or sudden restarts from what I can remember. Both of them are also "daytime servers", which is a must if you don't have NVGs.

    Freeside Trading Co.

As a bandit player I would advise you to spread out your camps and vehicles over the map. When it comes to the camps, you should probably spread them over multiple servers aswell in the event of your "home" server going down, to minimize the risk. A single camp is too vulnerable to gamey elements such as server hoppers (someone could for instance serverhop there and throw a grenade to ruin your progress). You should however have a few camps set up where the guards can re-arm with mostly common weapons such as Enfields, Winchesters, shotguns and pistols, incase they die and have to get into the fight quickly. Additionally I would like to suggest trading being handled at least partly outside of the game. That way you could send escorts — with basic gear to minimize the risk of losing valuable group assets — to meet up with the players that wish to trade, and bring them to a secret location where there's several guards to make sure that there's no foul play. That way players would actually dare to trade, provided that you end up getting a good reputation, since they would not have to run into a bandit hotspot.
  22. It was a hacker. It has happened to me once. Luckily I didn't have any good weapons at the time.

Be or not to be friendly?

I'm usually playing as a bandit, but yesterday I was actually friendly for a change. I was lacking ammo and needed blood to keep going (due to the infinite zombie respawns in 1.7.1), asked for help in the chat and two guys were actually kind enough to help me out. I played together with them for a while, until I got killed by zombies trying to raid a guard tower.
