  1. That was a hacker. Admins can't strip players of their guns and teleport them. I hope that you will find the truck again, though.

    Trade Zones

Safe zones would ruin DayZ. Too many of the players would just sit in the safe zones to avoid getting killed, and you would have a gameplay similar to the MMOs where you have to agree to a duel to actually have some PvP ... If you want to trade, organize a trade from outside of the game. There are many reliable traders at http://freesidetrading.co for instance, including myself. The FTC also run trading events, and they have a reputation for being reliable, so if you don't want to trade with an individual trader, you can do it during a FTC trading event under their protection.

Walked into a camp site at Pik Kozlova :)

What type of gear did you find except the camping tents?

    Successfull trade; It is possible!

Damn, that's alot for a M4A1 CCO. Congrats on the successful trade, though. It's nice to have trading partners for when you need to replace lost gear.
  5. Ah, I didn't look at the date of the thread. Almost got worried for a while.
  6. Wait, are there no cars or tents on any server right now?

    M1911 not one shotting zombies

I noticed this aswell. I was using my revolver to kill a few zombies in the open, and to my surprise I took 2-3 bodyshots to drop them.

    What's On You Right Now

I think it's good to have 3 drink and 2 food items in the event of spawning in the debug zone. Then you have a good chance of making it out of there alive.

    What's On You Right Now

My current gear is not very bragworthy, but I currently have an AS50, M1911, AKS-74 Kobra, ghillie suit, ALICE pack, rangefinder, GPS and all of the basic tools to answer the thread. We used to have alot of equipment in our group, but we lost most of it because of the server we had it stored on going to shit (all in all 34 primaries stored in 3 vehicles, of which 30 of the weapons were from helicopter crash sites and the barracks).
  10. That's of course true. I don't think it's important whether it might be boring for the guy killing me, since he would likely just do the same thing in my situation. I have been deprived of good loot too many times because of players with high-end sniper rifles and other good weapons disconnecting, so I don't see a point to be a nice guy myself. The way I see it, it would just be a waste of time for me to play fair, die and then potentially spending hours getting the gear I want again, when everyone else will just continue to abuse the disconnecting exploit. There simply has to be a mechanic in place to force everyone to play fair.
  11. I often disconnect to avoid death. Why? Because everyone else does it and I refuse to put myself at a disadvantage.

    ALT-F4 will never be fixed

Stop being a douchebag. You shouldn't have to kill a player in less than a second to actually get him. The current combat logging is an exploit and badly needs to be fixed. It nearly makes anything but high-powered weapons useless and removes tacticis such as using heavy machinegun fire to pin enemies down (since they will likely just disconnect when alarmed if they have any good gear).
  13. I prefer the M4 CCOs over the AKM because of their red dot sights and lack of zeroing (I think zeroing is just an inconvenience for an assault rifle). But yes, they are weak, and I would much rather go with a M14 AIM or FN FAL than an M4. A higher rate of fire.
  14. My idea of fun is not to spend countless hours trying to find a mere AKM. Although I don't need the loot map anymore (me and my group don't have to farm loot anymore), I think that it improved my experience with the game drastically when I started using it.
  15. I wouldn't go by what people here have to say if I were you. It might be hacked, but keep in mind that not all weapons seem to be listed in the DayZ Wiki. I saw someone on a Swedish forum claim that he had been told by a dev that it was indeed legit. Unfortunately that's not much to go by. Wait for an official response from someone who has a clue (a dev) if you are thinking about dumping it, though.

Anyone else feel that .50 cals....

So true. At the moment a .50 Cal is more or less a must have to reliably kill players.

    Top 10 weapons

My list: 1. AS50 It kills players in one shot, it has zeroing and it's a silent killer. The perfect sniper when you want to be able to take out other snipers. Its most significant downside is that it's not compatible with NVGs. 2. L85A2 AWS With this baby you can spot any sniper in a ghillie suit when you are at the NWAF, Stary or Elektro. It's perfect to use together with the AS50 or M107. 3. M107 It's similar to the AS50, but not as good because it makes alot more noise and can't be zeroed as far. It's also not compatible with NVGs. 4. DMR A fun to use marksman rifle. It's easy to use once you learn how the mildots work, and it's very effective at ranges up to 500-800m. It's best used against players that don't have too good gear, though, since anyone with high-end loot will likely disconnect to avoid getting killed unless you manage to drop them instantly. It's also NVG compatible. 5. M14 AIM I usually go with the L85A2 AWS to spot targets for my group, but when I don't use the L85A2 AWS, this is the weapon I prefer to go with. It's easy to use with its aimpoint sight and it has alot of stopping power. 6. M9 SD Since I don't want to waste space in my backpack on a silenced primary, the M9 SD comes in handy. It's good for small things like quietly killing animals outside populated areas without alerting players there, and quietly disposing of zombies that come your way. That's basically it for me. There are not that many more guns that I have a preference for. I don't like using machineguns, and when it comes to assault rifles, I don't care much whether it's an AKM, M4A3 CCO or AKS-74 Kobra. I still have to learn how to use the SVD Camo, and I have not yet gotten around to play with the M4A1 Holo, though. I can see myself starting to like those two weapons eventually.
  18. I prefer servers with third person on for the increased situational awareness it provides. It makes me feel more comfortable sniping when I can look around myself to see if anyone is behind me. As for servers with nametags, I never play on them. While it works both ways, I don't want anyone to spot me in my ghillie suit simply because they hover their mouse over the general area I'm at.
  19. I'm a bandit and more or less kill everyone I see, but I can't bring myself to backstabbing even though this is just a game. The most recent example of that would be when I kneecapped a spawner and asked him to give me a blood transfusion. As a sign of good faith I healed him back up first, gave him morphine and painkillers, and then when he gave me a blood transfusion I gave him some of the basic tools I had as a reward and let him go.
  20. Go to http://freesidetrading.co/index.php and create a thread. There are many serious traders there, and someone might be willing to trade you a ghillie suit for some of the items you had to offer.

So I just bought my third copy of OA

Because the game costs a fortune? I personally think it's well-worth it. If I didn't have two accounts, I wouldn't be able to trade effectively without travelling for hours every time I would do a trade. Not to mention it's far safer to store good gear on a character than in a tent, and it's more or less a requirement to have a solid sniper (AS50 or M107) to effectively get more good loot from players (since they'll just DC if you can't one-shot them), which I prefer over spending hours looting the barracks, helicopter crash sites and looking for camps. I think that countless saved hours that I would otherwise have spent running across the map doing nothing are worth my 25€. Yeah, unfortunately I didn't know of that at the time.

So I just bought my third copy of OA

I have two accounts in DayZ. It's very practical to have a backup, so it was 25€ well-spent. I'm using one account to play with (usually in the south), and the other one for trades in the north.
  23. I don't see why you are even bothering so much to justify it. Everyone else does it, so you can might aswell abuse the shit out of it before it gets fixed. Sad but true. I personally don't like to do it, but I have been deprived of good loot too many times not to do it. I mean, why would I let another player kill me, if he would most likely just disconnect himself if the tables were turned?

Are the server owners cheating us?

If they want to do whatever they want, they should keep their server the fuck away from the hive. It's not fair that the admins and their friends can create a safe environment for themselves so they can acquire more resources, and then use those resources on the rest of the servers.
