  1. Just thought I'd throw this out there. While we are waiting for news on the stand-alone, why not throw a little love Rocket's way by showing our support for what he is doing? The "Vote for the Next Deal on Steam" now has ARMA II up for vote. I voted for it. Some may argue that pushing ARMA II sales will delay news on the SA, but I'd like to think of it as a thank you to Rocket for all the hard work he's done in the last year and to BI for supporting the mod and the community. I can honestly say that if I had to pick my top 10 greatest moments in my 2012 gaming, DayZ would fill 7 of those 10 slots. Thanks Rocket & BI!
  2. When using some guns, the avatar yells almost every time you fire -- like he is scared or injured. Highly annoying. At first I thought it was only loud guns that caused this, but it even happens with the Bizon SD. Is this a bug?
  3. Not injured or shaking. And yes, I've heard it with the makarav also.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Lost another MP5 when I logged in yesterday. That's 5 weapons that have disappeared so far.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Confirmed by myself as well. Both my L85 and silenced MP5 have disappeared when logging back in.

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

Exited my game back to the chat room so I could get some tea. Went back in, but got stuck on waiting for character to create. Tried a different server and am presented with the male/female dialog. I ALT-F4ed -- hoping this is a hive issue and my character didn't just get wiped.
  7. The purpose of the change in the zed detection algorithm is to force survivors to use cover and concealment rather than just crawling along the ground and being nearly immune to zombie detection. If you move from cover to cover, you'll have a much easier time than trying to crawl along the ground or crouch. In your debug window there is a new variable: visibility. This will show you just how visible you are to zombies. For example, crawl across a road, and that will shoot up to maximum, something like 190. Any zed facing your direction from quite far away will see you. Crawl in the grass and it may be 12 -- crawl across a bare patch in the grass and it will shoot to 30ish. To offset the greater difficulty in moving in the open, infecteds' hearing is reduced by 50% when there is a wall between you and the zed and rocket seems to have reduced the zeds overall hearing somewhat as well. What this means is that if you are careful you can sprint from cover to cover without agroing zombies by sound alone. Just be careful that they aren't facing your way when you sprint to your next spot and you'll be good.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

Had that happen to me as well. In addition to low blood, I also had a broken leg. After logging back on blood was 12K and leg was healed.

    NW Airfield

High-risk actions are high-risk. How is this in any way surprising?

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

The easiest thing to do is to use the Six Launcher app. In addition to being a good dayz game browser and launcher, it will automatically take are of the arma beta updates as well as the dayz updates.

    [DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!

I'd like to know what percentage of vehicles, across all servers: 1. are still at their original spawn location 2. are still within the boundaries of the map

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

Agree. The thread is now 160 pages -- too big to find relevant information. rocket: I see you are updating the OP with new patch notes. Could you also add any other changes, such as planned patch times, etc so we have one place to look for it? Thanks! I did' date=' and I didn't ask, but it's not easy thumbing through all these constantly growing pages. It might not be a bad idea to update the main post with the new time. [/quote'] McTitties is right, if the OP gets updated, there will be less of those when-is-it-out questions.

    Dead Player bodies disappearing?

Just had this happen to me. Broke my leg walking over the train tracks near the lighthouse between Cherno and Elektro. Didn't feel like crawling all the way to town in hopes of finding morphine. Respawned -- luckily respawned right nearby. Ran to my body within 5 minutes of dying and it was gone. Fly noises were there. There were 5 other people on the server and the body was well hidden, so the odds of someone finding it, looting it and hiding it in those few minutes is highly unlikely.
  14. Is it normal for the m16 leaf sight to always be up? Isn't shift-2 supposed to fold/unfold it?
  15. I did have a primary weapon. That explains it -- I was thinking it was an axe to cut wood.
  16. BUG REPORT: If I stand near a hatchet and bring up the gear menu, the hatchet does not show up. BUG REPORT: If I stand near a hatchet and choose "get hatchet" I get a message that says I don't have enough inventory space followed by my binoculars being auto-selected. Reproed it several times BUG REPORT: Tried to pick up hatchet with 6 free inventory slots and still get the message indicating I don't have enough room in my inventory to pick it up.
  17. There is ambient moonlighting...when the moon is up. What's the harm in using available light sources when it's not up? LOL' date=' you are new here, aren't you? We _did_start with flares up until the last two patches. But then we had players QQing about how much they don't like to use flares. So, rocket was more than happy to address this issue by giving us flashlights...and removing guns and morphine and food and water. So be careful what you wish for around here }:-). [hr'] Chemlights.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.1.1 Rolling Update

3DP is being removed anyway' date=' so this bug will resolve itself. [hr'] I think the spawning with a gun thing is over' date=' like permanently. The new way is unarmed, we all gotta adapt to it [/quote'] Yah I think so as well, makes the game more interesting. Completely agree. It really brings the tension and terror back to the early game -- knowing one small mistake before you find a gun and you're dead. It also makes finally getting a gun, _any_ gun, much more rewarding. Kudos to rocket for his continued efforts. Really love all the changes that have been coming down the line.
  19. Yes, there is something wrong. You aren't using any of the many available light sources to see the zombie punching you.

    DayZ Build 1.6.0 Rolling Update

Don't worry. It's alpha. At some point there will be a character reset for everyone and you'll be given the option again.
  21. I don't think the word "FACT" means what you think it means. While most would agree there is some preference for daytime servers, you could make the same conclusion about hardcore servers. More players tend to like the easier 3rd person + crosshair servers than the hardcore ones. So, what? Should we cater to those players as well and get rid of hardcore servers? The point I'm making is, of course fewer players like nighttime servers and hardcore servers -- because they are harder! Not everyone enjoys this type of game. Instead of realizing this and moving on to L4D or CoD or the many, many other games that cater to this them, these players instead want to change DayZ to match more of their play style. To sum up my feelings on dark nights: Dark nights are dark. Deal with it. Even if it's pitch fucking black, deal with it. Even if it's unrealistic and you have a story of how you were in the middle of a cave 3000 feet under the ground and it wasn't that dark, deal with it. Even if you insist that 3 milliseconds after you light a flare you get shot in the head, deal with it. Don't fucking try to change it to make your personal style of play easier. Deal with it. Learn from your mistakes, overcome them and be the one who comes out on top in engagements at night because you were able to adapt to the dark when all the other guy did is post in this thread.
  22. Wait...what? You want to be able to see your character in 3rd person at night? I think that says all that needs to be said on that topic. And chemlights are used to light up a small area immediately around you. Once again' date=' the problem is solved. [hr'] Both of these statements are false. If you use chemlights' date=' particularly red ones, you are not visible more than a few feet -- by players or zombies. This is exactly the feature you say you want -- brighter nights without being overly visible to others. I don't even understand why this is even a discussion. If you have some phobia of chemlights, turn up your gamma. [hr'] You logic : 1. Night is harder 2. Because night is harder' date=' fewer people play at night 3. Since fewer people play at night, night should be easier so more of us can play at night Shouldn't night be harder than day? What about the core players who _are_ playing at night and like the added difficulty? [hr']
  23. Um....press F' date=' tap your left mouse button, flare released. Problem fixed? Okay then. As a game mechanic night should be harder. You shouldn't be able to run around at night without a light source. If you can, it's essentially no different than daytime. Does that satisfy you as a viable reason?
  24. No. He isn't. The fix is already available: flares, chemlights, flashlights and night-vision goggles. But, if by "fix" you mean make it so that you can play at night just like you do during the day -- without any lightsource -- that is just silly.
