Zeds problem for me because this is the only think that make the game unplayable yet. With good zombies (realistic move, behaviors etc...) the game begin to be playable and fun. That's not the case actually (maybe you can find the game funny for 5 min by seeing bugged zeds, but it doesn't entertain you for more than 5 min). Personnaly, me and my friends are waiting for a zeds patch to return to the game. Actually nobody want to play cause of the bugged zeds.

Hello, I'm posting here after testing standalone. I played a lot on the mod and now, I'm on the standalone. I know its alpha I know there is a lot of work, I know all of that, but I want to make that post because I remember I saw a video where rocketz says he was pretty happy with the new standalone zombies. WTF ??! The standalone zombies are quite the same than in the arma mod. They are buggy as hello, go throught walls don't go upstairs, fails to hit you most of the time they try... I don't see a lot of progress since the mod. Maybe there was a lot of work on the engine code, but on a player level, zombies are quite the same than the mod actually. That a shame because I really like the work done to make the game more immersive. Graphics, movment, the feeling that your player is loud, slow, I like that. But when you fight against a zombi, it becaume laughtable and all the immersive world is gone. It should be the #1 priority for the dev team, cause the actual game with good zombies can become a lot more fun.

Zombies dont use stairs please fix. Zeds Enter buildings all levels.
deadmeet replied to mr pedersen's topic in Suggestions
Its not only the stairs that should be fixed, it's the whole zombies system AI that should be changed. Actually, IMO, sombies behaviors are just a little better than the ARMA mod. Ok they don't move in zig-zag and behave a little better, but omg there is still a lot of work. They go throught walls, they don't use stairs, they move weirdly when they want to hit you. When you fight against them (with a axe for example), combats are just laughtable we are sooo far from the realistic and immersive world that the inventory system and map gives you. Actually, it's a reallistic survival FPS with benny hill like combats. -
Hello, Sometimes, I wonder if the game would not be better if the loot were totally random. No more residential, military or farm loot. I think it would make the game more dynamic with more movment between smaller cities and avoid cherno, elektro, stary and airfield camp because this is the only place where you can find premium items. The drop rate should be revamped to make rare items still rares, but it would be more exciting to be able to loot them anywere. It would give to the player the exciting little moment when you enter in an house and you wonder what you will be able to find. Cause when you are pretty good stuffed (good weapon, some ammo, enought foods and water) you always go to the same places because there is absolutely no interests to go elsewhere.

I don't care if they are zombies or infected. I'm focusing on gameplay. What I see today is that the only way to travel a dangerous zone is to make a lot of noise (by shooting) or to cheat (with alt+f4). The idea is to create a new way to go silently throught a horde of infected. - For the people that say (it would be always used). Do not forget that I mention the fact to have a small chance to be detected when you walk, and a higher chance to be detected when you run. So that's not a 100% chance of success. And if you are detected in the middle of the horde, it could be really bad for you. - I also want to add that you have to kill some infected to be able to pick some of their meat, so you have to shoot sometimes. To avoid people using that technic too much, we could add a drop rate to the zombi meat. Why not 15% chance to drop it. About the skin, I got a new idea. The player putting some zombi meat on him could have the zombi skin, so, to perfectly looks like a zombi, the player should remove his gun from his hand. If not, he will have the zombi skin, but with the gun in the hand, which would not fake other player. So you should decide if you want to perfectly fake the other, at the price of high vulnerability, or just fake zombies and keep you guns... That could be fun. Edit : Some people could say that you can travel silently in infected zone by using silent guns. But, really, they are too much rare. Actually, lot of people have them just because they use and abuse of exploit (rush airfield by doing alt+f4 and then, server hoping until being full stuff).. When these 2 things will be fixed, I think that most people will be happy when they will have an hatched with a lee enfield and people with silent gun will be cound on the finger of the hand.

Hello, It would be really great to create the "zombi meat" object. That object could be loot on dead zombies. It could not be cooked but players could use it to put some zombi meat on their clothes. It would change the player skin to looks more like zombies (by displaying the horrible zombi meat on their body) and they could try to go throught an horde of zombies without killing them. Zombies could have a small chance to detect the fake if the player walk, and a higher chance if the player run, with a duration of 1 or 2 minutes. This addition would give to players a way to move silently into area of interests (infected area). We all know that actually, most people do alt+f4 to travel cities silently, but I believe it will be fixed soon (and thats really great). After that, you will only have your guns to create a way in a horde of zombies. That addition would allow players to stay furtive in dangerous area, to make pvp more subtle and to create really fun embush ;)

Problem with last update (95208) : Waiting for host
deadmeet replied to deadmeet's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I use Dayz Commander and I check the "Hide wrong Arma 2 version" and "Hide wrong dayz version". Then I take care to join a server of version finishing by 95208, but I'm waiting for host most of the time. -
Problem with last update (95208) : Waiting for host
deadmeet posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hello guys, Since I play dayz, I have a reccuring problem. I connect to the server but I'm stuck in a "Waiting for host" black screen. Before this patch, I got that error quite often, but it was possible to find a working quite quickly. With the last patch, I got that error on + 95% of the servers. Just tried 30 different one without being able to connect... Do you have the same problem or most servers are working for you ? -
I vote for no, but don't forget that the deco/reco exploit will be fixed soon. I'm sure after that more and more people will want to spawn with a weapon ^^

My small list of suggestion after some days of playing
deadmeet posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hello, I'm quite new to that game and I love it. The ambiance is really awesome and I didn't find a so immersive game since long long time. Here is my list of biggest problems to me, with some suggestion to fix them. I'm a developper myself and I try, in my suggestions, to balance the fix efficiency with the coding time to avoid spending 2 month of development to fix a small thing. So here is the list 1 - Fix the disconnect/reconnect abuse For some people, that game is far from being a survival. You rush on town, disconnect / remove all zombies, and mass loot. Then repeat the operation and beeing overpowered without any risks. That is the biggest problem at the moment in the game, that's sure. One possible quick fix, not perfect but can be improved later, is to create a 10 seconds timer before disconnecting somebody. Quite easy to code and it would fix 2 problems : - You have to be safe before disconnecting, so you cannot run into zombies to disconnect anymore. They will hit you before that, resetting the timer. - You cannot escape other players shooting you just by disconnecting and changing server. If you alt+f4 the game, or use another way to kill the process to avoid the timer, you would return in the game with a 5 minutes hourglass. I don't think a bigger penalty would be justified, don't forget that sometime you have an internet problem and a connection problem always can occur. So I think that hourglass is enought to dissuade people using that technic without giving too much penalty to people with a crappy connection. 2 - Fix the changing server for more loot abuse. Not easy to fix. I dont know if the game can know the server history of a player. If it's possible to know when and where a player login, we could make them spawn with a 5 min hourglass after detecting 3 connexion to different servers in the last half hour or something like that. Another idea could be to just remove the persistence in inventory between server, but I'm not sute it would not break a part of the game. This would be really annoying to restart player each time you change server, but it would definitely fix that problem. Don't know what is the best solution. 3 - Fix collision with objects and others players Too often you broke a leg just die because you miss a stair, open a door, enter in a house... I already saw some of my friends just implode by going in a tent... really frustrating, especially when you are stuffed. This need to be in the priority of todo list IMHO. 4 - Improve inventory Some bugs we found with my friends : - When the backpack is full and you transfert items into it. The items just disappears - Sometimes, when you drop some stuff on the ground, they just disappears too - Its really difficult to change backpack. When you loot one of them, it would be great to automatically transfer all items in the backpack you had, to the new one. - When there is a backpack on some other stuff, you have to loot all the stuff before beeing able to take the backpack. 5 - Improve zombie animations and IA When zombies roams, they move in a quite realistic way and it give a really good ambiance to the game. But when they aggro you, it break the magic by running at you in a really weird way. This need some more work to make the game really magical in all cases. Thats all.... for the moment ;D. I want to add as a final word that I really thanks the developper team for providing a so unique and immersive game. The abiant sound are just awesome, the map is incredible. Can't wait to see more and more content coming, even if I think the core need to be in the priority list. Thanks for reading Alex
