    Joining servers by IP

Open Arma2 OA with the dayz mod running/installed (should say @Dayz on the main menu) Click multiplayer - click "remote" and there you can enter IP and port
  2. With everyone always complaining about PvP and all I almost always try and stay out since everyone plays differently and always will, just the way it is. I think in a true survival of the fittest desperation situation, a lot of us would have no problem killing to survive or protect those close to us but seeing a newly spawned unarmed person running for their life and killing that person to me is just stupid and wrong. See below - even at the end of the world there are standards. Saw this on reddit today though and couldn't help but notice how well it fit (even better that it came from another zombie game!)

    US188 Boycott

US188 tonight (7/23/2012) @ 9:35 CST - Every player on the server was teleported to a warehouse with no exit ..... everyone died. Bullshit. Server has been blacklisted by friends and I, I suggest others do the same.
  4. I just heard some flies buzzing while walking outside at work.... I then actually looked/checked the treeline all paranoid just out of habit. Then realized WTF I was doing. Too many hours in the game, yikes.

The game is getting to me.....

Haha, no.... a dumpster, didn't search it for loot.....yet.

The game is getting to me.....

    You're right... no such thing
  7. PDW = Legit PDW SD = Not Legit
  8. If our stuff respawns (server wiped it all out - or at least I think) I could probably spare an ATV for a price.

    US188 Boycott

If the server has chat enabled (which it did), and the players currently all chime in on who the guilty party is (one guy happened to NOT be in the barn/warehouse and DIDN'T die), couldn't the admin of that server kick/ban that player? Sorry the rant should have been about shitty admins in said server, not a shitty server. .... in this situation there was clearly a hack, multiple people all pinpointed the guilty party and no action was taken, with an admin present..... to me that is a poorly run server. Pretend our server is a restaurant.... pretend that all the folks on the server are customers of that restaurant who also handle the food..... pretend than the manager is sitting there watching everyone prepare food and eat...... pretend one more time that every single person in that restaurant but one gets food poisoning and the sick people are pissed. The manager simply does nothing and lets the guy who poisoned everyone continue to handle food at his restaurant.

    US188 Boycott

Just trying to spread awareness of a server's hacker population. My guess (and only a guess since I'm not a hacker) is that they probably have a home server with goodies (to avoid having to generate new shit everytime) or server hop to populated areas just to screw with people. It was a public service announcement - do what you will with it.

    US188 Boycott

The server had chat enabled and admin present .... this event happened, everyone complained via " / " and zero people were booted from the game. .... I'm not blaming the server for it happening, I'm blaming them for not taking any action.

    Trading for NVG's, GPS

    1. What do you have / willing to give up for NVGs 2. I've never traded - how do people usually do it without some sort of mass murder happening?

    Highest Settings, better graphics card?

My 6850 (fairly cheap card) plays it smooth as silk on highest settings .... anytime I see a drop in FPS it is usually followed by a, "SERVER RESTART IN 5 MINUTES - SAVE PROGRESS" .... so it isn't on my system but the server I'm on.

    Who doesn't kill non-lethal survivors?

If someone is far away from me, looks unarmed, and I can keep on eye on them.... I won't shoot. If someone pops around the corner, odds are I'm shooting. If someone has a gun and is coming my way, odds are I'm shooting.... When I have a pile of good gear, I am not risking my progress in the game/survival for someone who is most likely a wild card. Last night I was watching over Starry with a while another friend looted. As my friend is down there (we're in Vent together) he says someone in the VOIP chat says they're in the next tent - please don't shoot they are friendly and need food (which we have)... my friend has him crawl out and face away so he can evaluate that for himself (Check his bag etc etc). This guy does what he is told and my friend is working on giving him bandages and some food and then we would send him on his way... while I'm watching I see another guy creep out from by the port-o-potty area around the back to be able to shoot by buddy from behind (they had the same tags so they were clearly together). I tell him on vent what is going on and that I'll take care of this other guy, just try and distract for a minute.... he says something that the "helpless" guy clearly relays to his buddy trying to flank my friend.... the flanker stops for just long enough while they're talking for me to get a DMR shot to his chest.... down, but not dead yet. Right after that my buddy yells to the "helpless" guy to get in the tent, someone else is here (obviously he knew it was me).... so they're in there hiding and the "helpless" guy was antsy to get out and go "loot" (or heal) his buddy..... after like 30 seconds my buddy says, "OH go ahead and heal your friend, but only after I loot any weapons or usable gear...." He then told me this guy was swearing like crazy that we "Were hacking" or there was no way we could know they were together. Long story short, we took his friends goods, healed him up so they could stay together and told them to run east while we watched.... about 200m away I shot them both (not dead).... so they had to wait to bleed out or crawl to safety. .... anyways, after this I am never trusting anyone again, these guys were clever enough to try and set us up - too bad it backfired.

    DayZ Stories

A little story from yesterday.... Myself and two friends were at our home base in the Northern half of the map.... we decided to load up the Ural and get supplies to fix a 4-wheeler and a Bus we had found... first things first we would go get gas and check some deerstands that were on our way. As we pulled up to a field outside of Pusto to have our group split to check the deerstand, get water from the pond there, and fill Jerry-Cans it didn't take long before we were fired upon. The other two ran to the truck, and took off while I headed for the woods to get cover... the shooting stopped but it sounded like it came from town. I loaded up and we headed down to town with our truck to check it out (we were very heavily armed).... sure enough as we head into town someone at the entrance of the supermarket is shooting at us. We blow past and make a loop around, one guy bails on the backside of the market, the driver and I stay in.... we pull into the "parking lot" to see there is a bus there (most likely the group inside).... the driver bails out with his M249 as I bark out their locations from the truck.... at this point both "bandits" had taken refuge laying down between the aisles .... The guy in the back of the stores fires twice to get their attention when the guy with the M249 runs in the front door and just UNLOADS on these guys. We made quick work of them. Now with bus and Ural we caravan north to check the airfield for new glass, weapons, and other goodies..... on the way we notice a truck parked at the gas station between Lopatino and Vybor.... as we approach someone comes out from behind a fence and opens fire on us... Since we have the super durable Ural we just plow through this guys truck and see that out of the back of the gas station a guy is leaving on a bicycle.... we take off and pull right in front of him.... in chat I yell, "GET OFF THE BIKE AND LAY DOWN"..... He does what we say while the bus driver is dealing with the truck owner.... we have these two both in "custody" of sorts. We tell them in exchange for the truck, we'll give them two primary weapons (they only had sidearms - primary was left on the truck), some food/drink, a map, and GPS..... if they don't like the deal they can be shot. They accept so as I repair the truck the other two keep on eye on these guys. One gets the wise idea to make a break for it and is gunned down, his smarter friend stays put until we leave and I haven't seen or heard from them since.
  17. Let me describe what happened and if anyone can tell me how/why this events occurred that would be great. *On server US 524 @ 12:00 midnight server time (it is dark) -- both of us have zero murders of any player at this point with 200+ zombie kills, we are far from bandits A friend and I were in a Ural which we had repaired a few days ago... we had left our "home base" and been on the road for a while when we stopped to refuel our jerry-cans and the truck.... during this my buddy who was driving is "Kicked" from the game... no explanation.... no biggie, I watch the truck and wait for his respawn. We both get back in and our on our way.... moments later we hear shots coming at the truck for us, so we take off and start driving away my friend is kicked again (he is driving) (his ping was <100, not spamming chat, no offensive name, or anything else people might get kicked for) .... well I hop in the drivers seat to continue away from where the shots are coming from and about 15 seconds later, I am kicked for no reason. ... we both log back in ASAP to get the truck and of course when we log in these bandits are waiting for us. My friend logs back in and finds his entire inventory has been deleted (guns, food, map, gps, etc etc) he runs to the truck and is able to pull a AKM and ammo out before they notice he isn't part of their group (there were 4-6 of these guys). He manages to gun down two of them before he is shot and killed. I am off in a field (since I was at full speed driving when I was kicked) so when I spawned I had a jump on them, and the instant I opened fire on the remaining bandits my screen when black and I ended up in the ocean.... about 20 seconds after that it said "YOU ARE DEAD" .... so after all of that, was it admins running the server who wanted our gear so they booted us to take the truck easily? Was it hackers who were kicking us to steal our stuff without a fight? .... and has anyone else experienced this and/or know of Rocket has addressed this problem? I have no problem with someone finding our gear or killing me and taking it in a legit way.... but if admins or hackers are booting people so they can loot them easily, that is bullsh*t. *Rant over*
  18. What server was it?.... We lost our Ural but the people who stole it were either admins / hackers who kicked us while we were driving and then while we were reconnecting they got it in and drove off.

US 524 - Bulls**t by admins or hackers?

Knock on wood, so far no. We thought we log a bunch of stuff one day, but it was just the tent was at capacity and dumping the loot like 30m away on the ground.... I stumbled on it by accident and freaked out that someone else was at our camp and dumped their goods.... turns out it was just the tent's "dump" spot. I would agree that small groups get things and horde them. Once you have a working vehicle, getting more becomes much easier. First being able to travel quickly to the other vehicle spawns is a nice perk, also savaging for parts on foot is a huge PITA and hard since you need sooooo many open inventory slots to carry these items, opposed to having a car to get you to these places and then being able to load the found parts for the next vehicle inside your current one. We had a skoda for a while and with us getting other vehicles better suited for off-road travel we drove the Skoda down to the west-side of elektro with food, soda, a AKM, G17, med supplies, and survival gear and just left it for some lucky new spawning character.... you're welcome BTW.

US 524 - Bulls**t by admins or hackers?

I can only attribute it to teamwork. I almost never play alone anymore, most every night I get some time with two other buddies and we're all on a vent server so coordinating our actions is much easier.... if they're not on I won't do much more than hunt and get food for the group, check deer stands, and scavenge remote areas for more car parts. I will say our "home base" has become pretty great.... a little Oasis in the chaos of Chernarus There are 6 of us who will play using this base, 3 play often (me being one of them) and three other more casual players. We have 4 tents - Food/Drink Tent, Ammo tent, guns tent, med supply tent ..... each has only certain items in it for organization sake. Two 4-wheelers Bus UAZ Off-Road Pickup Truck ... and until yesterday a Ural. We've done a few "peace" missions to the coast to pick-up random new players and get them on their way as well as having to put down a few other plays (not me personally), but I will say we've never shot at someone without being engaged upon first. To live in Chernarus you best make friends.

My thoughts too.... Its one thing to get killed because you're sloppy or someone is just better than you, it is a whole other thing to lose your gear because you magically get logged out twice and sent to the ocean. We still have 5 vehicles at our "home base" and we know the names of at least two of the others who made it away.... so it should just be a matter of time before we catch up to them again. One thing I think would be really great (after this ordeal) is having something you can place on items, or "tag" items to be traced/tracked be your GPS..... like you leave loot that is "tagged" and then you can follow it via GPS .... end game would be to almost "bait" someone to leading you to their tent/vehicles where you can then loot them/recover lost or stolen items.
