    The term "Sandbox"

Any game that sports "sandbox" has a hidden sandbox in game. If you find all the sandboxes in all the games that are labeled sandbox, you will be gifted with a magical item called the sifter. The sifter has the ability to bring items to and from any other sandbox game. People assume that the very few who have found the sandbox in each game are hackers, but they merely aquired the sifter. I am only 2 games away from aquiring the sifter. :3

    I found Dynamite

dafuq? I dont even remember dynamite in vanilla Arma2, so this is definatly modded stuff. I would leave it well enough alone. If your found dead with it on you, youll be announced a hacker, even if you did not spawn them in yourself.
  3. It could always be asshole "clan servers" that kick anyone who isnt sporting their clan tag. I find making another profile on Arma2 with their tag on it and screwing them over always works.
  4. Generally updating all your files on @DayZ to the newest and most current files would work. If it still wont work, make sure you have @DayZ enabled and that your running from the beta patch. If this still doesnt work, you might be trying to connect to a illegitimate server or are trying to log in to a modified dayz server. Make sure that the server has the @Hive expansion, meaning it a official dayz hosting server, and uses BI's Hive. P.S. Your picture is disturbing, but only mildly so.
  5. Launch DayZ normally. You must still use the beta patch
  6. Same here. Just backing out and going a really low ping server helps
  7. Step one, go to NWAF, step two, pimp out character, step three, die Rinse and repeat.
  8. Sounds like either he played for a very long time or he hacked those items in.
  9. I find that "loosing my gear" is the least of my worries. Less people means less chance of a hacker, and more the expeirence i want from DayZ (Which is what Rocket has been saying all along, that i should have my own playstyle). My connection speed isnt terrible, i can easily stream HD content, its just it annoys me when a HUGE and VERY CAPABLE server is almost completely empty and still wont let me join, even though I would have virtually no effect on performance.
  10. I love the idea, though more realistic things like a wallet(a rendered picture of your character and its ID, along with stats of Time of death, what killed him/her, how many zombie kills, how many bandit kills, was the person a bandit, how many hours did he/she survive, how many different servers they logged into on that same life, how many interations with other players. THAT. would be cool.
  11. A simple fix: Detects bans/kicks. Does not count said bans/ kicks towards "Strike meter". If a player logs out of a server 3 times within 10 minutes, they are put on probation If you were in combat, and you leave within 1 minute of ending combat, you're put on watch. (Easily used by tethering it to the "adrenaline" effect when near a zombie or fighting pvp) During probation, if you enter/ exit a server twice in 5 minutes, you will have a 24 hour game-wide ban. You will not be able to see any games running with the mod @DayZ During Watch, you have to wait 3 days before you can leave withing 1 minute of ending combat. Otherwise, you will be recognized as a"DCer" and will be put on a game-wide ban for 3 days. Solves server hoppers and cowards disconnecting to escape a firefight.
  12. So basically... you want to take an Arma2 mod.... and make it not have anything to do with Arma... As a basic scriptor i can say that that would take MONTHS to make. The coding would have to be edited, and almost completely redone for weapons if you want to nerf weapons, as you would have to balance them out in other ways. The color system is accepted and welcome change from bars and numbers IMO. As for the zombies it has been said numerous times that it wont be changed anytime soon. DayZ was meant to be a proof of concept of making a realistic zombie apocolypse survival mod. Your saying that, without undergoing a name, author, and engine change, you want to make it less realistic. That wouldnt be DayZ then. DayZ is meant to be semi-real. You try taking a few bullets and now wanting to lay down for a bit. As for the inventory, yeah its not the best, but it could be a lot worse. This is an alpha build, and should be treated as such. If you REALLY want to change stuff, go make your own mod.

    DayZ Stories

It was 4:00 AM both server time and in real time. I was tired, both physically and mentally, as i swept the fields just southeast of NWAF. In almost pitch black darkness, i hustled up the steep slope to my right, hoping to find the enterance to the airfield. Alas, my luck was not so good. There was a "friend" of mine, so to speak. We teamed up 30 minutes ago and were moving together like true survivalists. One would cover the other during a bounding move from cover to cover. One would take shots from afar, not alerting a horde of walkers, while another silently made their way through, making an attempt at anywhere big enough to hold loot. It was 5 minutes since he/she last logged off. Their final words to me "Brb, sammich is done". I chuckled, as my hunger was orange, and without any food in sight, i was worrying about slowly dying. I crested the hill to see what seemed like a field set ablaze. Road flares were everywhere. In the middle of this madness there were 3 vehicles, 2 Gaz's and a bus. Curiously, i took out my binoculars and reconned the area. The distance between me and the vehicles was at least 1000 meters, if not more. I assumed i was safe from the 10+ men and women scattering around setting up shop. But it was the soft patter of large caliber rounds landing right in front of my face to remind me that sniper rifles still exist. I dashed for the nearest cover; a low-lying stone barricade. Again, more shots, these not as soft, due to the stone. I poked my head up, only to hear a bullet whiz by and hit a tree. Either the man was an amazing marksman, or i couldnt locate the muzzle flashes. Thats when "that was the most amazing ham&cheese ive ever had "appeared in the direct comms chat". After telling him/her the situation, we both decide to use our practiced bounding/cover technique. Very slowly we advanced from cover to cover until we were 500 meters from the trucks. Now we were in rifle range. Just then 3 or 4 of the bandits lit up my friend, sending him into a slow spiral of blood loss and death. Thankfully, he died withing looting range, and though i hated the fact i was now using my ex-ally's dead corpse as a means of survival, it payed off. He had not one, but two M67 grenades, along with roadflares. The ones lit previously by the bandits had long faded. The only sources of light were the vehicles, which the bandits had so warmingly aimed at me, and the sporadic muzzle flashes. I knew i had to find and kill at least one of the guys, to make sure my comrade's death was not in vain. So i revealed my position and flung the road flares far into the woods, highlighting enemy snipers. I knew there would be no survival, and alt-f4 would just prove to everyone (who by this time knew my name) that i was a coward. I would go down fighting. Armed with an Enfield, a makarov, 2 frags, and a few roadflares, i quickly launched one of the frags into an enemy group only 30 or so meters away. No dead, but i saw two men who lost a severe amount of blood. Suddenly another group opened up from my right flank and my cover became even less safe. i threw another frag at the group of two. Two kills. Now i knew there were at least 8 more remaining. Then the crack of a heavy sniper echoed through my headset. The bullet just barely missed me. At this point i was about 750 meters from the other group. I picked up an AK and one more frag from the two dead bodies, and blindly opened fire at the larger group flanking me. No kills. Then, i saw the flash of the sniper who had been taking pot shots at me for nearly 30 minutes now. I opened fire, expending the last of my ammo. It was dark, but after the final burst, i knew i had at least stopped him from firing, hopefully incompacitating him. Just then the large group split off into 3 groups. two flanked right, two flanked left, and three went right towards me These clearly werent your average run-of-the-mill players. But i was no greenhorn when it came to shooters. Having only 3 mags for my makarov, i fired into the group on my right, which would have forced me to move from cover out into the open. I hit no one. They were around 400 meters and closing, with the other two groups even closer. One of them had a lmg and was putting a lead curtain at head height. The only way i knew where they were was by using 3rd person mode and peeking over cover. I fired my last two mags into the group on my right, injuring both but not killing them. Were it not for it being night, i would have been dead long ago, but to my luck, it was tar black. Apparently they did either not realize or forgot that gamma and brightness all the way up can at least show you basic details of the landscape. I was out of ammo except for the hatchet i had picked up WAAAY back in Cherno and the one frag. I just had to bide my time and wait for them to get close enough. finally, the middle group was in range. I threw as best i could, but i threw a little to high. It blew up in air. Right about head height on them. 1 more kill. But midway through, between release and explosion, i found out the sniper i thought i killed earlier was indeed still alive, and put a bullet right into my arm. I was down for the count. It was a sad ending really. I was left laying down as the remaining 6 or so bandits ran up to me. After realizing i was bleeding profusely, they took my cans out of my patrol pack, restocked ammo, tended to their wounded, and drove off. And there i was. Just counting down the seconds till death. It gave me a moment to reflect on what an epic struggle i had endured. i was proud that, even though i died, i managed to do more harm to them, costing them a little under half of their group, and wounding 3 of their guys. I never did meet my ally again. But i do agree that it was his/her supplies that kept me going for so long. 2 minutes after the last speck of headlight had vanished, my character had finally bled his last drop of blood, and died. ~Supplice VI~
  15. What new features in Arma3 do you see being the most likely to be added to the mod? (i.e. diving for food, new lighting ideas, etc) [supplice VI]

    US 518

spawned TO a location or spawn killed AT a location, because i happened to spawn in at an airfield to someones back and killed them. Sorry if that was you, i just didnt feel like having to go through the whole 'Trust me and ill trust you' ordeal.
  17. Im using a 600$ HP computer with 10 GB DDR3, a quad core processor, AMD Radeon HD 7660D graphics card. I can run DayZ at max settings, with AA and Postprocessing turned off. (they make the game look wierd anyways). Im also running at 1366x728x33 resolution, if that makes any difference, which, in terms of other games, such as minecraft, it would. However, a much more simple computer, probably with 4-6 gb ddr3, dual core, and a decent graphics card should be able to at least run it without a hitch at decent frames, albeit all low graphics settings
  18. Thats why i dont use tents ^.^ alice pack is good enough for me
  19. add me@ supplice.vi Im pretty heavily armed, know my way around Cheranus, and i have real world experience with survival situations (camping/ hunting etc). Also im east coast, but generally play late at night, so it wouldnt be that big of a problem
  20. We all need an ally, whether we want to fly solo or roll in a pack. However, as said by Dr. Wasteland also, i dont want a clan where i feel the obligation to be there every day, where if im not there the whole thing would fall apart. I want a group to roll with if their online, whenever we have spare time. I dont want an "mlg pro" clan clawing and fighting to the top of the leaderboards. There will be no leader, and no followers, only people working together for the greater survival. This is not a banditing group, nor an anit-bandit group. This may change depending on the decisions we all make in the field. I want a few good people who i know can have my back at the random times we play. This "unity" of people would work together whenever there are at least 2 people online. There would be no obligation of sharing, though a few cans of beans and cokes now and then to keep up health wouldnt be terrible. It would be democratic and on the fly. No huge group meetings, just on the fly decisions that dont universally effect the group. If this relaxed, noncompetetive gameplay style suits your needs, and you want a few buddies to roll with whenever your on, contact me via message (on here, durh) or on steam @ EpikWarrior21. A mic is not needed. Current ideas for communications are exclusively Skype, and again, mic is not required. See you on the flip side ~Supplice VI~ Time zone is EST fpr me, but keep in mind i will not be the only one in the group. Make some friends. UK people could make a few UK friends, still allowing for teamwork but not having terrible timing issues, same going for the US, and all other parts of the world.
  21. EVERYONE. STEAM GROUP NOW UP. If you are willing, as my steam player search is acting weird, add my on Steam @ EpikWarrior21. For the moment i CANNOT search people. Some may have gotten requests. Other may not have. Anyhow, if you are at all interested, add me. Im getting a gaming skype set up. I would share my real skype, but i wouldnt want to mix up contact lists. (Not that i dont trust you fine people on the internet). Thanks and have a good one!
  22. To everyone who replied, i will be making a thorough sweep of the thread and adding everyone who is interested. Not sure what were gonna call ourselves, so maybe that could be something we have a poll on? Nothing serious like "oh you have to vote", but if people pass around a name and it gets enough hype, we could easily adapt it. Either way a steam group will be up tomorrow, hopefully by late afternoon. Glad to see this idea was well liked!
  23. i CAME for the title (ba dum tsss), and stayed for the idea. Interesting, and probably realistic. It would be an epic easter egg (if this ever makes it into the mod) that 4-5 months down the road you start getting a belly bulge. 9 months and you have a child. That would be funny as hell
  24. According to science, your balls will shrink and you will have +1 to agility. However there is a -2 to strength. Be careful, as this is permanent. It also adds +3 to running speed with the enchantment "caffine", so its great during an escape.
  25. Die thrice, live once. Every time you make a mistake, you learn from it. If you repeat those mistakes over and over and hope to get different results... well then by definition, your insane.
