I actually do know what I am saying...first off there's a large emphasis on pvp, why? Because the Arma II is a military simulator. Fair enough for a survival game but that's all there is to Dayz in my opinion. If the engine isn't made specifically for DayZ then how is it going to work any better than it is now? Since it's Arma IIIs engine it's made specifically for Arma III. He should only go stand alone if he created an engine specifically made for DayZ, I can't really see DayZ going any further with ARMAs engine. He should just keep the game as a mod. Either way to make the game a proper release he has a shit load of work to do. If he has access to the source code then yeah he can fix engine related bugs and mess around with it during whatever stage it's at but I would rather wait for a proper DayZ release with it's own engine or a more suitable one rather than one that its currently in my opinion, failing on. -

Meh, DayZ standalone is going to be shit and buggy most probably, no change there...yeah the "current engine isn't made for what dayz is trying to achieve" so yeah let's use the newer version from the one were using that serves the same purpose as the last one, hurr durr. The less work the better. -

Well they could easily do that, say if you shoot or have been shot you have to wait 5-10mins to abort, if the ALT-F4 is reliable then the only way you can disconnect while attacking someone would be disconnecting you internet.

An adult male realistically needs at least 1000 calories a day to make the body function properly, I think at least. I do agree on the spawns though, I've only ever found everlasting supplies of drink and not so much for food. -

Cherno, every newbie that gets a weapon is trigger happy or is being chased by every zed in a 3 mile radius. Elektro, the school in the middle or whatever it always has like 100 dead players in there, the sound of flies can hardly contain itself. My experiences. Elektro > Cherno.

It's funny how people think there's some kind of fix for hackers, there'll always be hackers, always. Any way the game is in alpha, the main concern should be game development not preventing hax0rz. That should be for when the mod is released as a stand alone game, if it does. It's quite rare to see a mod/game being this popular in alpha but it's still common sense that bugs, exploits and hacks are going to be in major supply. Just sucks that the type of mod DayZ is you loss everything upon death. Kudos to the hacker though, at least he let you see the struggles of rabbits.

I said friendly to a guy in cherno just outside the church, shoots me, so I get my shotgun out run out behind the wall and shoot him twice, he disconnects, total bs...waited for a good 5mins. Still haven't got my first kill :( -
The Importance of Bandits

I'm fairly new to DayZ, been killed three times by players. Every time I had no intention of shooting them they just took advantage of it. Now I feel like killing on sight if they have a weapon. The PvP element certainly keeps me on my toes. I've never killed a player nor had any intention to do so (yet) but the fact that I could get sniped or being watched is an important part to the game in my opinion. At first pvp was of no interest to me, zombies were the main concern. The more gear you get the more of a problem bandits become. I think that when you get mid-game or whatever zombies should still be the main/strongest enemy of any survivor. I've not had a decent enough weapon or squad yet to say zombies are a walk in the park, I still prone everywhere xD I could certainly imagine that it would be boring without the fear of bandits killing you. Even though player interaction is a big part to the game, I think it's too exaggerated with bandits and all. In a zombie apocalypse zombies should be the main concern every single time. -
Thanks works extremely well with the zig zags. Plus I hardly become detected anymore, even if I do a silent hatchet to the face is satisfactory. Thanks again :)

Thanks, I didn't know that the trees broke the line of sight. Regarding the ear and eye icon, how far will they detect you, say for example I had two bars on each how far away will they be able to see or hear me?
