I'm going to explain this one more time as best I can. It isn't "authentic/realistic" to spawn without a weapon and some basic supplies. And the reasoning is simple: The point where one first spawns into the DayZ world is sometime after the infection began, how long we don't know yet because Rocket hasn't told us the back story. But it is evident from looking around the map, the condition of towns etc. that it has been a few days or weeks since the infection began. We "survivors" represent the people of Chernarus who did not become infected and we have survived these first few days/weeks with nothing but a bandage, a flashlight and an aspirin? Really? If we were so stupid as to not be able to gather any more supplies than that we would more likely would have ended up a Zed rather than a "survivor". The very word "survivor" carries the connotation of a resourceful person and a resourceful person would not be wandering around Chernarus with nothing but a bandage, a flashlight and an aspirin! If the game started out as the infection began it would make sense to start with nothing and start gathering supplies then, but since it starts well after the infection began it makes sense that a "survivor" would already have gathered at least the basics. And one more thing, once people have gather the basics again they are now going to do everything possible to avoid dying and starting over "naked". That means trust will be at an all time low and PvP at an all time high. Shoot on sight will be the norm. Even more so than it is now.

Exactly!! We need fat American-ized zombies! Wearing stretch pants and bedroom slippers. But to be fair, there also need to be some skinny chicks in halter tops and shorts zombies too. And the should have tramp stamps. :D :P

Starting with no weapon and very little supplies isn't realistic either, but that is being added.

Prediction: "Bandits" will STILL camp the coast just to kill unarmed newbies for killings sake.

To be a zombie you'd have to be given the same limitations as a zombie, IE you could only lumber around until someone came close enough for you to detect them with your limited hearing/vision. Sounds boring.

Who rings the bell? How does she/she know someone died? Do the church bells just ring magically on their own when it feels a disturbance in the force from someones death?

Would be nice to be able to hide stuff under fallen logs, cover with leaves/limbs etc. with no tent, e-tool etc required.

My character was only about an hour old so I had no good gear, but I was shot in the head by another survivor. Who was female. Killed by a woman.... so embarrassing.....

Interesting What about face shots? Should only take one, the kevlar doesn't cover the face.

I can't see that any Zed should survive a shot to the head regardless of how "healthy" it was, and likewise 2-3 chest shots from a pistol, 1 from a rifle, should do in most any zed as well.

Best to have 2 of each, food/drink. The reason is what happened to me once. I logged on, hunger and thirst flashing so I eat and drink my last. About a minute later the server got flaky, lagging, about 5 fps etc. so I log out and find a different server. I log in to it, again my hunger/thirst are flashing and I am loosing blood and I have no food/drink! Desperate I run as fast as I can to a nearby barn, no food/drink, run to another close by, no food/drink. I am running about so recklessly due to my impending starve/bleed to death that I don't see a bandit enter the barn I'm searching and he kills me. All because the hunger/thirst while logged out mechanic is buggy.

Currently 6 days. Longest, 7-8 days.

Best way to combat bandits is to be part of a group, so make being part of a group easier as I have detailed in the thread linked in my sig.

Imagine an American football sim based on the ArmA engine, by the third down half of both teams would be out with broken bones!

You do know that after spawning you can drop all your gear except for “1 beans, 1 flare, 1 water”, right? Why don’t you try that.

Was atop a building last night when suddenly there was an explosion above me and multiple explosions on buildings around me. The first thing I thought was "hacker" so I went prone and logged off. Just lucky that I didn't die.
