LMAO....i had some dude running right at me screaming on direct chat to help him...dude had like 15 zombies chasing him. I helped him.....I could have just shot him and laughed. I told him to follow me and stay right behind me. I ran into a farm-storage-house(not a barn) and out the side door. He stayed right behind me. We went around the corner and I dropped...he dropped. I threw a smoke grenade and the area cleared. Afterward dude gave me a much needed map and toolbox...I gave him my glock and some ammo/food and a water bottle and we parted ways.

Let me know what it looks like..im still trying to balance all that out....too many logs...not enough time. BTW...im still waiting for my server to start the game...LOL

I know for a fact that clans shutdown their servers and on team speak once the clan/admin has started the server, they all raid it at once to play together...which i understand. But leaves the loner to his own devices and having to worry about "pressure". As long as their connection permits, I dont care who comes into my server(as it should be) as long as they dont get nasty or cheat.

I just finished booting it up now...so bring yourself..I dont have a clan or anything...its completely open to the public.

My server is in NY NY. Where are you located? If your ping is optimal(under 100ms). Your more than welcome to play on mine. US 400. or you can search my name. i do not lock or kick for any other reasons than those that are listed in the rules. However I do shutdown my server daily to check logs.

BTW all horrible pings...why does no one pay attention to their pings?

How long was it locked for....I have locked my server for just a few short minutes during startup cause everyone and their brother wants to join it as soon as it appears in the list which makes it never start and ends up saying ERROR on my TCAdmin console. As soon as its up and running...unlock...not every server admin ,that is by the way allowing everyone else to play for free, up to no good.

One of the biggest problems I have is starting up the server. Everyone and their brother wants to hop in as soon as it pops up in the list. At this time the server has not really started yet...and this delays the start procedure. Which makes it take forever to finally get in game. How long are we going to need these rules about not being able to lock the server, make room for yourself or friends. There are 1000s of servers now. EDIT: Its not that I want to lock people out. I dont even play with anyone in this game. But sometimes I would like to lock the server during setup to avoid 40 people jumping in at once...which lags the hell out of it.

Yeah...me too. I see things that look shady...but I dont know for sure. I know someone keeps screwing with the connectivity of my server...and trying to hack my admin password.

No matter what game you play, your going to run into hackers. I dont think I have ever seen an anti-cheat system that really worked the way it should. I have played ARMA for a LONG time and seen all kinds of dumb crap. The thing that really bothers me the most out of everything. No Jumping. really.

I so hear you on this. I have gone as far as to limit my pings to 200ms. when the room fills up with people that have 250ms pings it lags everyone else including the server....why people do not pay attention to this is beyond me.

When I first got my server up an running, I locked it. There is no decent information out there concerning RCON and Battleye commands, let alone server management and logging. So I locked it to test the ping limiter, the .RPT files so I could learn how the logging coincides with events which will allow me to find out if anyone is duping or cheating. The Lay-Player does not understand what goes into running a server or the money paid for it. And quite often misunderstands alot of what is happening when they are in the server and "things" happen. For instance....Battleye will kick you if your ping exceeds 540ms. I had a player last night on my server get kicked for this issue. His friend asked me why I was kicking him. Of course I was not doing this, battleye was. Which I explained. Then his friend asked me if his ping was bad?(14ms) and responded no in fact it was good. He said "ok good, cause we are going to have problems if i get kicked". I asked him what he meant by that. He did not respond. The Lay-Player downloads DayZ...plays... reads the forum....finds the rules about server hosting.....and presumes to think he has some control over the admin of any server. Then threatens any "thing" that happens to him that he deems unfair as grounds for blacklisting. Its kind of like going to a party for a certain type of club or group at someone's house and telling them how they should do things in their house that they pay for. Yeah its a party that everyone is invited to. Yeah its a party that makes sure everyone gets the same treatment because such are the rules of this club party. Now of course there are some people who host these parties and bring things they should not. There are some that lock the door and do not let anyone in except friends. There are some that make people leave for dumb things. And while they may be wrong or right depending upon who you ask for doing such things. The fact is, its their house. Yeah there are rules. Yes they should follow them. But its their house. Now the club that they belong to(dayz code/hive) is not theirs. So they should definitely follow the rules if they want to remain a part of the club. Its a tricky situation. I have played arma2 since its inception. Server Admins were Admins for the fact that they wanted their own server to play on for their clan or what have you. They always had the right to kick ban for anything they did not like. These rules are in place because this game has to get off the ground and its gonna need the support of the whole community to do so. I believe if this game becomes standalone or an official DLC for ARMA3 there will be both public and private servers for it of course. Which will mean Admins will be able to kick ban to their liking. EDIT: I swear if Rocket does not get backed for this, or if he doesn't get more then "yeah, nice mod" "thanks for making us a lot more money than we would have made if you had done nothing". Then there should be a revolt!

Why not buy/rent your own server so you dont have to put up with this or you could just move to another server....I rarely, very rarely have any problems. If I do, I move on to another server. Edit: I am not saying for you to let the admins get away with anything. I am only saying that you should post your concern and move on to another server. There are 100's of them and dozens more added every day.

"Hey Admin who pays for this server with your own money you have to cater to my needs and make sure that im not butthurt or i am telling!" Admin:" You shut up, Its my server. I will follow the rules if the rules say that the rules are to be followed, and if i see you not following the rules...I'll ban you for something that I should totally be allowed to ban you for but, that the rules dont state I have the power to. So Yeah!" Player: Wah! Admin: Yeah! Player: Wah! Lesson Learned: If something butthurts you. Make the statement and move on to a different server.

if you dont like a server...leave it...and go to another. End of Story...I have played DayZ since early may. Never had any real big problems. Sure i have been kicked from a server for no reason. Had one shut down or restart on me...I dont care....I just move on to the next...There are so many....Get over it!

remember to replace the arma2oa.exe file from your expansions/beta folder to your arma2oa folder

Purchased/rented a H.A. server on Friday July13th. Was told it would not be up till the 16th. Yesterday on the 16th at midday, I opened a ticket to see if/when I could expect to have it up. Was told today. I was like ok...well it never happened. I opened another ticket at 11:30pm basically saying that I guess I could not expect to see my server up today as promised....still no reply from H.A. Bad service.

Nope I have been waiting since Friday the 13th. Was told on Sat the 14th it would be up on the 16th. Then on the 16 th Inwas told it would be up today on a support ticket. Now it's the 17th and no message from H.A. No Server. NADA. Guess they don't care about their customers.

I wish i had video of it, I had a guy DC on me the other day, and all i had in my arsenal (hands) was a damned yellow flashlight.....LOL He dropped behind his tent and "pulled his cord". Just at the sight of another player. Talk about ridiculous. I remember when I first played this game, I told myself I was going to DC if I had to. But, when it came down to it. I could not do it. I was too preoccupied with trying to fight back, I forgot all about it. Guess my first instinct was to fight back and not run. Its easier to try to shoot back than hit alt F4 or pull my CAT5 out of my computer. Anyway, it never crossed my mind since. I think if and when this game goes beta or production, the rules will change for the better for all players and admins alike.

Really, Admins, You should have the right to ban in accordance with the rules AND within Reason. EX: DCing. Of course Admins should not exploit players in or the game in anyway. While Admins should have the same exact rules apply to them as any "Players", seeing as they are "Players". Admins Should also have the right to make sure their Servers are running efficiently, correctly, and in accordance with the "Rules". In which case they may have to appropriate time for Testing setup, debugging, desyncing, etc etc. Players, Get over it. These guys, these Admins(including me) are paying upwards of $40-$160 a month so that you can play this for free. Calm Down with the "You have to cater to me" BS. If these "Admins" didnt exist, you would not be playing this game, You would be whining about how there are no servers to play on! EX April-May 2012. So play the game where you can, and be happy someone if floating the bill for you. Its not cheap or without hassle.
