The Official Unofficial Bandit Removal Petition
Machinations replied to The Killing Joke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just so we're all on the same page then, you have elected to ignore my point, again reiterated below: ""Reputation means nothing in the game, because your name can be changed at will and you can always just hop around servers. So you can be a douchebag all day every day, and no-one will know who you are. That is the difference; if it were not so easily exploitable you would develop a reputation naturally and people would KOS you. But, because you can hide your identity and jump around servers, that will never happen. That is why a bandit skin is needed." I'll assume this point is left to stand then, if you have no counter-argument. -

Do you think these are clever or you somehow make your point? You come across as a misanthrope who considers all other opinions invalid. Too bad, you're wrong, and the majority of the playerbase doesn't agree with you. Deal with it. I'll reiterate: "Reputation means nothing in the game, because your name can be changed at will and you can always just hop around servers. So you can be a douchebag all day every day, and no-one will know who you are. That is the difference; if it were not so easily exploitable you would develop a reputation naturally and people would KOS you. But, because you can hide your identity and jump around servers, that will never happen. That is why a bandit skin is needed." Any counter-argument? Normally in a game with a locked name people would learn your reputation, but in ArmA you can modify your name anytime you want. So, in other words, you are completely anonymous and there are no repercussions unless we force them in this 'gamey' way. Can you address this point, or do you just want to shout over it? Oh, and my balls are big and made of BRASS. Cheers. -

Way to miss the point entirely. The point is, there is nothing really of value to lose in the game, so getting killed is not that big a deal. You just start over, it's not like you have to grind out a bunch of skill points in firearms. You cannot be (easily) corpse camped and you can just server hop. Oh, too many zombies on your tail? Alt+F4 and server hop. Reputation means nothing in the game, because your name can be changed at will and you can always just hop around servers. So you can be a douchebag all day every day, and no-one will know who you are. That is the difference; if it were not so easily exploitable you would develop a reputation naturally and people would KOS you. But, because you can hide your identity and jump around servers, that will never happen. That is why a bandit skin is needed. Think of it as your reputation following you around. People have heard of your methods. You're 40 years old yet apparently that age has not given you time to accrue wisdom. Drop the bandit skin and kill the golden goose, rocket. That is all. They're basically moaning because they are unable to be douche bags to people constantly without repercussions. Its a bunch of whining from a niche segment of your player base. Listen to them at your peril. By the way , 'joke', drop your superior attitude; you're not better than anyone else here, nor do your arguments make much sense. You're just too emotionally involved and its pretty sad. -

One thing is true - you are a joke, at least your reasoning ability is. This is a game with no character statistics, so all you can do is kill people and take their stuff. Big whoop. In EQ I could kill you take your stuff and keep you from playing the game for hours or days at a time. I find it hilarious that all the bandits essentially want hand-holding - no skin - and are the ones responsible for 99% of the vitriol and insulting language. If you think that helps you make your point, have at it. Honestly though it just makes you look like spoiled children, whaaaaa whaaaa I don't get my way I have a skin oh poor meeeeee -
 Yes, teleporting zig-zag zombies are scary; but I guess many people who have played awhile know glitches to drop the zombie spawns while letting friends clear them out. Things like that should probably be fixed before zombie populations are increased to the point that you cannot enter towns without a group. I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly am no casual gamer, having played EQ1 on PVP full-loot servers and plenty of UO ganking. I am one of the hard core ole schoolers, my friend, as I am certain others are. I'm also probably longer in the tooth than you, so to speak. Don't confuse wanting zombie spawns to be reasonable with 'casual' - as you clearly are doing. The number is not even that bad, perhaps a little high; but the respawn rate in particular is. Feedback is part of balancing ; if rocket had no feedback he would be working in the dark, unaware of how things are working out. I see children whining in game chat, but if someone took the time to make a forum account and post a reasoned argument, it generally is not whining so much as (hopefully) constructive criticism. happy bday rocket, keep up the good work

The whining is epic. Quite honestly, the morality mechanic is required. I am a bandit myself, the only reason to not want the skin change is to make it easier to kill unsuspecting nubbins. The only legitimate argument to not want the skin change/morality is for players who are about to be attacked by survivors who shoot first and kill the survivors. They lose morality and may end up as bandits themselves, despite firing in self-defense. The simple solution is to tweak the morality mechanic somewhat; perhaps a grace period, or implement a way to determine who fired first. It will never be perfect, but it could be tweaked. Also, provide a way for bandits who want to change their ways to more easily raise morality. I doubt the prostars whining about the skin, however, will accept this. More importantly, there is no legitimate reason to not want the bandit skin, except you want it easier when killing people. As a bandit myself, I have no sympathy for you, nor do I want friendly fire removed or any other 'care bear' mechanics introduced. TLDR; Tweak morality mechanic, don't remove it Provide methods for bandits to raise morality more easily
