    Do you like 1.7.1?

Oh HELL YES! I love the new update, no noobs spawning with a Makarov and going on CoD sprees! No food and water to start off with. This update just made all the carebears shit themselves! CRY MOAR! HAHAHAHAHAHH!
  2. Its called Chickenrunning, and no, they cant ban you for it. In a real life situation, you were getting shot at, would you stand there and let the get a fair shot at you? Or make it harder and move around? This is DayZ, a Zombie Apoc Simulator. Not a CSS or SAMP server. Please report the name of the server, and the admin who banned you to the DayZ Staff, it will be handled accordingly.

    =FUN= Hacker

This is just my opinion, but Heres how i see it: P1: "This guy/clan is hacking because " P2: "Wait, my clan is clean. This guy is stupid and dosnt know what hes talking about!" Lying or not? You do the math.. Im an expert at detecting people who lie, keyboard or not, there are still "body signals" that people give off when lying. Examples i saw in this thread: - Quickly posted replies. (He saw the thread and posted as fast as he could to defend himself. "Holy crap i got reported! Need to make a reply now!") - Poor quality of defense. (Hastily typed messages, and lack of credible evidence.) - Accusing the Reporter. (Red Flag. You instantly make yourself look guilty by accusing the person that reported you without proper evidence.) NOTE: I am not pointing fingers, i am only bringing my opinion to the table. Take it as you wish.

    "claps" good work DAYZ "claps"

Ahahahahahahaha! Shit I cant stop laughing at these threads. Typical response from a player who just got banned for hacking: 1.) "I dont hack, nor will i ever." 2.) "My friend uses my account, maybe he did it." 3.) "My account was stolen, and i just recovered it. Now im banned?" Here are my replies: 1.) If you dont hack, why are you banned? 2.) Your own damn fault for sharing accounts. 3.) Dont lie, you just make yourself look even worse. Cry some more, its our turn to laugh at you for fucking up a good game and getting punished for it.
  5. People should have watched youtube first, its their own damn fault if they dont like the game. Its not ganna change, in-fact, its going to get harder. Rocket will squeeze every last tear from the carebears until they dry up and go back to Call of Duty. Im one of the people that bought ArmAII for DayZ, The only words i ad to hear that made the game instantly appealing was "Zombie, Survival, Hardcore." The only other thing ive played on ArmAII is Warefare, and boy do those guys hate DayZ Fanboys. All i have to say is, if you dont like the game and start making unreasonable and completely stupid suggestions, you deserve a flick on the nose, and a ban from the forums. Nobody wants to hear you whine (Except Rocket), and nobody is forcing you to play DayZ.

    Hacker ban ineffective

@Rocket, Cant you make a script for the servers that disables the damage and effects of the bombs? Ive seen this happen in other games, hackers find ways to spawn weapons and shit by exploiting a legit command in the game, wich cant be blocked, but if you make it so the effects of the bomb are disabled, they can spawn as many bombs as they want, but it wont do any damage to players or destroy buildings.
  7. YES! But make it so it resets after each life, i play different each time i die, so if your a bandit in one life, your a good person the next, but if you break that and kill, your humanity drops again. (Mort to read, sorta-related) The "Greeting" Suggestion could play into this, if your playing with a friend and he has low humanity, you don't want your audio to be spammed with heartbeats while trying to listen for gunshots in the distance. So if you add Greeting to this, you and your friend will be able to look at you and not hear a heartbeat, since your calm and comfortable around that person.

A grapple bolt for the cross bow

Sounds like a horrible idea. Sorry to be the one to shit on your parade, but this isnt a Batman game. This is way to easy to troll, so ill just say no.

DO NOT POST YOUR GLOBAL BAN APPEALS

Just finished reading all 25 pages of this thread.. All i have to say is FUCKING LOL! The tears are wonderful and taste extra salty. Also, calling the people who use hacks "hackers" is actually a compliment, you are implying that the user made the script/hack, Stop calling them Hackers. The proper term is Script Kiddies, or Skiddies for short. A script kiddie is a person who uses a script or hack made by someone else to gain an unfair advantage over other players. A Hacker is a person who creates the script/hack that can be used by others, or kept private for his/her own use. On another note: @Rocket I truly admire the way you deal with trolls, idiots, spammers, and all the people who throw shit in your face. You apear to keep your cool, and reply in ways that make it look like your counter-trolling, but at the same time your being serious and pointing out solid facts and concrete points to make your response a swift kick to the ass. People have an image of Developers being some corporate flunky who are supposed to act proper and reply to things in a formal way, this is complete bullshit and was brought on by the 'Cookie-Cutter Game Corporations.' A real developer, like Rocket and his team, acts like they would normaly, and talk to people like would their best friend or family. Look at CCP, the Dev team for EVE Online, the whole team decided to make a song and publish it as the official theme song for the Devs and GameMasters called "Permaband - HTFU" Link: Seriously guys.. Only the cool Devs act like Rocket, make cool songs, and party with their fans. Harden the fuck up..

Kronzky's SP "hack" removed (his words)

So after being absent for almost a week, i read this thread and gathered the following events, in order. - Rocket gives access to some random dude. - Random dude exploits rare privilege for himself. - Rocket pulls the plug on the 'agreement' - Reddit explodes in anger, accusing Rocket. (Where the fuck did Reddit get involved?) - Rocket is threatened by 12 year old kids screaming "EULA!," "IP!," "Sue!" and "My Lawyer!"(Typical Temper tantrum.) - Rocket makes the most amazing post in the history of the universe. (Now named "The Unite Speech") - Trolls still trolling. Rinse and Repeat. This was bound to happen, all i have to say is that you have to overcome it just like every other issue. Trolls will be Trolls. Reddit will be Reddit. Assholes will try and steal your work. People will try ruining your image because you said no. The snowball will continue rolling, and the kids will continue complaining. But at the end of the day, look what you have accomplished. You created a mod that made an old game launch back on top. You brought together a horde of hungry gamers, and fed them a 5 course meal of everything they love. You made corporate game companies spill their coffee and scratch their head. You made DayZ.

    Helicopter NPC Trader (post-Beta)

The idea will be shot down instantly. Just saying this now, THIS IS NOT AN MMO! This is hardcore survival that makes people cry because they have to rely on themselves in order to get anywhere. Adding any form of currency would imply that there is civilization, and therefore contradict the fact that its an Apocalypse. If you want something in the game, find it yourself, don't go trying to change the game so you can go running to a NPC Vendor and buy it with beans and tin cans. Seriously, the fuck is wrong with people suggesting these useless ideas..?

    Is this worth $30

I was talking with a group of friends about new games and DLC, and this Mod came up in the conversation. The hour that followed was all about DayZ, but in the first 5 minutes i had already formulated a plan in my mind to go home and buy ArmAX. The minute it was done installing I launched the game and began playing DayZ. I had watched some videos on YouTube about DayZ so i had a rough idea on what to do and what to expect, but NOTHING had prepared me for the immersion. I was crawling through abandond cities listening very closely to my surroundlings, each noise and shadow was a question: "What was that?" "Is that a player?" "Did a zombie just see me?" Many pants were changed while playing this game, and i have to say that this game is well-worth the money.

    The "Lazy Owner" Issue

It has been brought to my attention that there are a few servers whos owners have simply neglected to update to the current version of the mod, why is this a problem? Simply the fact that if nobody can play an outdated server, its just wasting valuable resources of the Database. Ive got a few solutions to fixing the "Lazy Owner" Issue, but like most solutions, they have there downsides, so i will explain both the Pros and Cons of each solution. Feedback is wanted, but please don't post unless its constructive criticism. Solution #1: "Outdated Auto-Lock" System. Since each server running DayZ is connected with the Database, if it detects that a server is not running the latest version, it will send notice to the server owner, and locks the server until it is updated. Downside: If a server owner is away or sleeping, the server will be locked until they are back. This would dramatically reduce the number of servers online after an update, causing the updated servers to be flooded. Solution #2: Auto-Update system. If an update is released, the server would shut down, and apply the update, and then reboot. Note: Im unfamiliar with ArmA2 Hosting systems, if this is not possible please ignore it. Downside: Servers would go offline without warning after an update is released, causing unsaved characters to lose progress, and players to become upset. Solution #3: Servers run by the Dev Team, not individual hosts. (Personal Opinion) Now, this IS an all out assault on Server Owners.. But if the servers were only allowed to be controlled by the Dev Team, the servers would be updated faster, and Admins wouldn't be able to change time, spawn items, or fuck with the settings to their liking. Despite the fact that I plan to host a DayZ server in the near future, i stand firm on this opinion. There are to many stupid people out there who think that just because they own the server, they can ban/kick players, spawn items/vehicles, and make exceptions to friends and clan-fags. Two options on this solution: 1.) Dev Team has full control, no Admins, no "Owners." 2.) Make it harder for people to host a server. (Rule/Regs, Application, Contracts, Etc.) Downside: More stress on the Dev Team, Running the servers AND making the mod would spread the Team and progress would be slow. Perhaps have a separate team that specializes in server management? NOTE: Solution #3 is my personal opinion, you can argue with it all you want, but it will not change.

    The "Lazy Owner" Issue

Like i said before, Solution 3 is my personal opinion. If you read closely, i don't much like it either because i plan to host a DayZ server as well. What it would do is take all the power out of the renters hands so they cant hand out admin, or use admin themselves. As for Admin not being able to spawn items, that was my mistake. And i apologize for that. But... there is still the issue of Admins kicking and banning people without good reason. Such as: Kicking AFK players, Kicking players to make room for clanfags or friends, and banning people because they killed an admin or admins friend. You might not think that this is still an issue after Rocket said it was fixed, but it is.

    The "Lazy Owner" Issue

Locking the server for the 10 minutes when its getting ready to restart would prevent anyone from joining as the server goes down. It makes perfect sense. As for the Auto-Updater, In my earlier post, i stated that if the timer was set to low, the servers would update at the end of the cycle. And set to high, it would use to much resources and cause lag on the server.

    The "Lazy Owner" Issue

From what ive gathered in the last few posts, #1 and #2 can be combined. Solution #4: Advanced Auto-Update System. The server would lock itself when the Update is ready to be applied, and during this time, players are notified to get to a safe spot and log out. After a set amount of time, the server would terminate and the update would be applied. The server would reboot, then unlock. Downside: Scanning for updates ever X Hours meens the servers would be outdated for however long the cycle is. If you set it to scan every X minutes, it would use the servers resources and cause lag. Unless.... Instead of the server having to run the update scanner, the DayZ Dev Team could have a program that, once an update was ready, would tell the server to start the lock and update system. Removing the need for the update scanner. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In this case, why are there still 4 servers still running 1.5.6/7 ?? Heres the list: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=6639

Older versions of servers - items duplication.

I will make a separate thread to address the the issue.

Older versions of servers - items duplication.

Bumping, This issue needs to be fixed ASAP! Theres a good and a bad side to posting this on the public forum, good is that now the devs can see and begin fixing the issue. Bad thing is, now everyone can see it.. People searching for duplication glitches will find this post and go test it. If it works, All the rarest items in the game will become as common as Makarov Mags... This issue needs to be looked into/fixed IMMEDIATELY.

    NIGHT TIME IS RUBBISH

Heres a thought, If you dont like playing in the night, go to sleep. Night time on DayZ is prime hunting time for Bandits. some people find a place and hunker down until the moon comes up, wile others take the cover of darkness to move far distances. I enjoy the night, so if you peeps got a problem with it, turn your brightness up, get some chemsticks and a magazine and deal with it.
