KOS will always be a "problem" and this is why
jay.pis replied to armyof12monkeyss's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, but then again this is a video game... -
So...who exactly is this game supposed to be hard for?
jay.pis replied to bazbake's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Obviously you didn't bother to read to understand that it wasn't a complaint and quit with the ALPHA!!! already, everyone already knows this, it says so when you download the mod. @OP good read and I do agree that more content and or difficulty adjustments should be made for the veteran players. -

jay.pis replied to armyof12monkeyss's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Damn, are people still on KoS's nuts?!? video game + anonymity + full loot/openworld + pvp + weapons = ? The only game mechanic that will alleviate this is if they disable Friendly Fire on non-bandits but fortunately (for the majority of us) this is not that kind of game. There are plenty of other games out there that have Team Deathmatch game modes. -
Same here, I've been playing for about a month now and so far only 10 kills, 3 intentionally and 7 in self defense. I'm basically playing exactly how I want to play, surviving a zombie apocalypse gathering resources and defending myself and my group. Just play it for what it is now while you wait for the standalone. I'm sure there will be plenty more shit do to in that version.

I don't understand why people complain...it's an open world, full loot game with guns...not sure what people expected, happy joy bunnies and unicorns maybe? Even if they did add other shit like objectives, crafting, safe zones, whatever...the core will always be PVP, end of story.

what's the best solution to stop server hopping?
jay.pis replied to tarquinbb's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Only way to really "stop" server hopping is to implement a 1 character per server rule. Other solutions are just to slow them down such as adding in a timer where players can't log in to another server for lets say 10 minutes. -
I'm not saying I'm against it but making them harder to obtain does not have any relation to a person's KoS mentality. The same goes with making more zed spawns, more challenging zeds, as well as lower ammo spawn.

Loading Screen.. How Long Is Too Long?
jay.pis replied to wrappa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you are stuck on loading past the server lobby (black screen with loading text) then most likely you need to updated Battleye that or you need newer version of the Arma2 OA beta. -
Just gotta quote this so others can read if they missed it because this is the ultimate frakin truth and you sir deserve as much beans as you want.

thats a damn long ass post complaining about a mod that is still in its early development stage. The best advice anyone can give for people like you is to just wait further down the development phase for major updates and changes. Honestly I don't understand why people just don't get this simple concept.
-
We loose blood and we regenerate new blood. I think it's a very sound suggestion specially if it's a slow regeneration as suggested, something around 3-4 hours to regenerate from 1-12k health. Players have a choice to sit and wait to regenerate or go get blood packs.
-
Either this or make ammo more scarce. Now you gotta save your ammo for when you really need them. But this is an Arma2 update and we'll have to wait if they change them in a DayZ update.
-
This was not done intentionally, it's because they do not have a proper animator in staff [maybe now they do] and basically just created or used default basic movements and tweaked them.
-
This is true but as a new player they probably won't know this. At least spreading out spawn points around Chernarus lessen town camping [or at least thins it out] and give a greater chance for new players to survive.
-
What about having it so that players start off as survivors or lets say Blue players which are neutral. Blue players kill blue players a couple times and now they turn bandit or lets say Red players. Then let players have the ability to "target" these players, for example hitting the tab key while aiming at them will show a color icon on screen, blue or red. Of course the ability to target depends on the range, you can't if they're too far away, maybe players can only target about 50 meters maybe? Something to that extent anyway.

Pretty much this. It's like everyone washed up from some wrecked ship or something.

What MineZ is Doing Right, and What DayZ Could Learn From It.
jay.pis replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can salute or lower your weapon in DayZ, I think there is even a wave animation as well. I can spot a player from 600 meters away in a pretty open field and I'm not sure that trying to keep hidden is a bad thing, is it? I don't see how grouping in MineZ is different from DayZ, zombies are more threatening, sure, but what does that have to do with players that just want to shoot other players? How is having less threatening weapons any different from more threatening weapons? You can still use them to kill other players, can you not? That's like saying, "here don't use those AK's but use these swords instead"...okay so now they'll just kill each other with swords instead... Ok, sure, I wouldn't mind having some kind of a visual indicator to see if someone is a bandit or not. But I'd like to still stick to being able to see the visual indicator at a certain distance. You just mentioned it, there are still players that just kill for their enjoyment, so what's the difference? Every single feature is exactly the same but slightly toned down... -
I bet this is going to end up with "this is JUST a PvP deathmatch and if you take away the zombies this game won't change at all and it's basically just Arma2"
-
Come on Rocket, you can do better than that....
jay.pis replied to Sputnik (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I guess I can simplify my point so you can understand. Yes, Arma2 has just updated and it obviously changed/updated things in the game and that goes for mods as well. Some people seem to think that Rocket is the one who did this update and my point is that he is able to change them in DayZ. -
Change of zombie movement
jay.pis replied to tommygun17@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Definitely just needs more animations and smooth/fluid ones at that. -
The Best Time I've Ever Had While Playing DayZ - Worth A Read.
jay.pis replied to Chewbacca Jesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good stuff, I'm glad you've been having some good experience in the game. I just wish that others could experience them as well. Me and my group have yet to have a PvP experience, we've been going PvE for about a week just surviving and gathering resources and some weapons. Now we're prepared just in case we run into PvP situations. -

No shit Sherlock, that's basically what I just pointed out... -
Broken Bones has to go or fix your coding
jay.pis replied to Heyasuki's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
And of course just to chime in that there is a Bug Reports forum just in case you guys didn't know. -

jay.pis replied to Heyasuki's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Dark Souls had a proper development team behind it. It's fairly obvious to any developer that bugs/glitches aren't good and they need to be fixed. If you broke your legs due to the bugs/glitches, specially with zombies then yes this is an annoyance and hopefully fixed soon. -

It's still his mod so he can change what he wants in DayZ despite what changes has been applied in an Arma2 patch.
