But honestly, not sure why people even bother to mention that features are FAR FAR way in the future when that's pretty obvious already and we don't KNOW what will be added in as it's being developed.

Consequences of player killing - a new direction!
jay.pis replied to heretic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't know about you or anyone else BUT playing this game with headphones on and turned up pretty loud in WITH the sound FX AND the music already gives me those effects. No extra programming needed. -
Good stuff and also: Dead bodies that can have very high loot value but can also be a zombie that grabs you. These dead bodies can either be spawned or are survivors that have been killed by zombies and they can pretend to stay dead or get up after a couple of minutes after dying.

How to farm loot. A guide to collecting what you want. (Outdated)
jay.pis replied to U.B.C.S. Ravin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are tin cans of any use anyway? Hopefully this changes and loot resets after a while, specially when they're just junk loot like tin cans. -
Hopefully it skips Arma 3 port and goes straight to it's own game using another game engine.

DayZ Mobile app for Android (v. 1.50)
jay.pis replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
INSTALLED! going to test it out and give some feedback. -
I'm 100% with you on this and I do have a lot of suggestions same as with everyone else. We all just gotta be patient and see where this mod (or stand alone game, if it turns into that) goes.
-
You're speaking for ALL video games in general then. They all go through development phases and it's uncertain if they'll be good or not.
-
Uuuuuuuh....that still basically means it's not fun or it's boring after a while because it's in early development... I still don't get your point... You create a thread about the obvious...I mean, I don't know what to say...DUH!? I mean, you have some sound points but again how is that relevant to a product that is still in development?
-
You can see where I quoted you in my previous post, you just mentioned that it's not all that fun after a couple runs... <_< And you're MR. OBVIOUS! I mean it's in early development stage and I don't understand how you think it won't get worked on and improve over time? Basically, what you really are trying to say is...I WANT THE FINISH GAME NAO!!!
-
Basically it's not fun because it's still in early stages of development, right? Because you can see into the future and you KNOW how the mod will become in 6 months to a year from now, right?
-
It's a mod, get over it! Counter Strike took a long as time before it even became it's own stand alone game and Counter Strike is peanuts compared to the scale of DayZ and what type of game it's suppose to be. GTFO!
-
Oh it's possible, I mean just look at all the MMO's that are out there that have the exact same features. Also at the same time I'm sure the standalone version won't stray too far from the current server setup as in NOT having thousands of players in the same server, more like 200-300 would be ideal.

DayZ should become a stand alone game using a different engine.

It's possible to retain Arma 2/3 mechanics/systems and develop them on another game engine. -

Don't use any Arma engine because then you'll be restricted and won't be able to freely add in more complex game mechanics/systems. I'd say definitely go with UDK as it has FPS and MMO support and you'll be able to achieve a big enough world map and have lots of freedom and customization. -
I would definitely spend $60~$100! for a purchase to play model and purchasable DLC. Item-shop is fine with me as well but only for cosmetic stuff like clothing etc. But also make it so that players can also obtain them with in-game points that they accumulate while playing. Maybe something like you get X amount of game points in relation to how long you survived. I'd like to see it developed by community as well as studio. Definitely community and studio servers. I'd back you up 100% on Kickstarter! Just make sure to develop a KICKASS zombie apocalypse game!

Also zombie collision! and MORE zombies! I want bigger cities to be totally overrun by ZOMBIES!
-
Definitely a good suggestion. I've been thinking the same thing as well but more in the lines of having one big major city like New York for example and have a stretch of farmlands further out of the city. The awesome feature would be a huge explorable city with scy-scrappers that are all enter-able with an underground sewer and subway network system.
-
I'd like to see something like project zomboid where the longer players survive more stuff happens a long the way like electricity goes out or military rolls around killing zombies and survivors a like or an air strike on cities, etc. I really like this mod a lot but there needs to be something a bit more than just scavenging/looting and watching out for zombies and other survivors.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
jay.pis replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
QFT! You can't trust anyone except for your online and/or IRL friends. People should just deal with it and have the devs focus game mechanics else where. -
Slower zombies, increased numbers.....
jay.pis replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Also, I've not noticed but zombies should have collision so if they surround you you're f'ed unless you can push your way through. -

There will also be less killing in towns if they increased zombies by at least twice the amount that it is now that roam around them which will have players think before discharging their weapons. Also increase the range of their hearing so the chances of getting swarmed is higher with firing a weapon. -

If they were to keep slow moving zombies then they need to place a stamina system since it would be too easy to get away. What I'd like to see is for the animations to be fixed, that hyper fast forward zig zag movement is very bad, IMO. I think it would be very cool if they can get at least on par with the zombies from Dead Island. Oh and the zombies need to be increased and they need to be wandering out in the forests as well and more roaming herds of zombies. -
What if I found a nice little spot to setup base and I don't have a tent, I'd like to be able to drop items around there so I can have a stash of resource. Players won't be able to do that if items de-spawned when they logged off. Best solution...let them buy Arma 2 :)

Best solution...find a group outside the game then play. Unless they add in factions/teams there won't be a better solution.
