Why are people against the idea of NPC guards?
jay.pis replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't mind at all, no NPC's or with NPC's I'm fine with it. Although if they were to add something like that then they can't be everywhere, ideally just one safe zone is enough and NO storage of any kind in them, you'll still need to have your own camp/tent to store your items. Still, I don't understand why people ask for it even though it's for trading or grouping purpose. Who's to say I can't go in there with my other account and join a group then lead them in a trap? With weapons that can shoot 600+ meters away how are you even safe unless the safe zone is completely without any windows but you'd still get shot right when you step out the door. -
Ok, so with so many people looking for a solution to the bandit issue or shoot first ask questions later here's a suggestion that could aleviate some of the tension when meeting another person. Keep in mind that players with the intent to shoot on sight will shoot on sight no matter what so that can't be helped but this is more for situations when a player might seem friendly at first but has the intent to shoot you in the back while grouping up. Basically the suggestion is to implement a "group" feature that lets players form a group that removes friendly fire only within that group. What happens is that a group can then invite another player and that means that they won't be able to shoot each other. Now this doesn't mean that the group is safe but this feature can help give an early warning for when the player removes himself from the group which could mean that they might have the intention to attack. To go even further with that is that players need to request to be removed from the group so that the group can prepare for any bad intentions. So that's pretty much it, let us know if this is something of a good feature or not or if anyone has another suggestion to improve it or maybe a completely different suggestion.

Not gonna happen. Also, use the search, there are loads of the same topic. If you want a somewhat safe haven go on the Survivor HQ forum and there are groups that have formed base camps in some servers and they can provide you some safety. Why use computer controlled AI when you can have actual players do the role?

Sanity system...New animals, pets and more intersting hunting mechanic...
jay.pis replied to Hendrix (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A week or two is not that long, even a couple of months sure but how do you really know if you'll still stay normal and we're talking about post apocalyptic or stranded setting and being alone for a long ass time. These people are soldiers and they are trained and again this is all speculation on your end and everyone else's on how each and everyone of us will react to these situations. You might be faced with a situation where there is no hope and there are no others and you're starving no food no water no nothing but you have one bullet in your revolver, do you take the slow death of starvation or pop your own cap? Fair enough but you have the free will of not having one. But then again, this is just a game. :D -
Ok, so the way I understand this is that players lose morale every time they kill someone and with low morale comes those effects in which you'll need to group up so that your morale increases which then removes the effects, correct?

And thank you for your input and I agree that since there is already a squad system with Arma 2 it would be a nice feature to be activated in DayZ as well. And I do see that there is another thread with the same topic, would be good to merge them.
-
QQ more  you seem to be good at it :beans:
-
Oh...I don't know, maybe because there are so many threads that suggests similar features so maybe I kinda just sat here and thought hey I think I have a suggestion and wanted to share it and see what others thought, just maybe. But it's cool, forums wouldn't be any fun without peeps like you. :beans:

It's a suggestion and it's not for me personally, learn to read and take a chill pill.

How to Get 32 Meat Pieces from One cow
jay.pis replied to Juba (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now you can open up your very own meat market! -
Probably due to more players grouping up instead of flying solo.

Some changes I'd like to see. You too?
jay.pis replied to lnfighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Decrease spawn rate on military grade weapons, slightly decrease ammo spawn, increase zombie spawns by like 3-5 times, add in melee features and add in a weapon/item/vehicle degrade system. -
This would only work with a friends feature implemented.
-
I'd love for it to have the same spawn feature as a regular MMO but I'm sure it's done this way for performance and to have less load on the server.

A realistic suggestion for zombies-gunshots.
jay.pis replied to richard_b's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
From what I can tell they do just walk towards the direction of the gunshot and only aggro once they spot you. -
Leave it the way it is! If you want safe zones look for a server that offers safe havens that are created by other players. Go to the Survivor HQ forum, you'll find other players/groups offering safe havens. Honesly, once you implement these carebear options you'll be playing PvE and you'll have bandits just sniping you from afar so what's the point of having "NPC cops" when they can just kill you then log off?

Zeds should not move in players general direction until detected
jay.pis replied to a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That seems to be only when they spawn but from what I can tell they go into sensing mode after once the player starts to move and trying to avoid them. That's when players need to make sure they're on splinter cell mode. -
Definitely agree and I hope rocket finds a guy who can do the animations.

If there were to be any skills at all it shouldn't be some permanent feature. I was thinking something a long the lines of how they do it in League of Legends where you unlocked skills as you played or even guild wars 2 where you unlocked skills as you used a certain weapon. Maybe there can be something like a bunch of different skills attached to each action that players make for example every time you use bandage your skill would increase so that your bandaging would be more effective. Maybe something like a max of 3-5% more effectiveness. BUT these skills aren't permanent you loose them once you die.

For the good of the game: everything needs to breakdown!
jay.pis replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like to see something like an item or weapon upkeep/maintenance where you need to maintain your weapon or repair it if it breaks down using a toolkit. Same goes with vehicles and others. Players will need to make sure they maintain these or once they break down they can't be used until repaired and repairing will require other items a long with the toolkit. I wouldn't want it to be like Dead Island though where your weapons would degrade within 30 minutes. I'd like to see something like 4-6 hours for lets say a Makarov before it breaks down. Also lets say a Makarov has 100/100 upkeep points or whatever you want to call it and it degrades to 30/100 once you maintain it using a toolkit the total would decrease to 80/80. So then after something like 60 hours of use the weapon is totally broken beyond repair. I think something like this would be nice to have. -
Suggested this earlier as well and also spawn dead bodies that could be either zombies that come to life when checked and might have high value loot.
-
I'd love to have this city on chernarus! 5x5 km!
-
What the heck do you think SUGGESTIONS are for? Honestly, come on people!
-
Or cut out to be a survivor if this shit was actually happening. Zombie apocalypse I mean. :)

I started playing just last Saturday and ONLY last night is when I was able to get some gear and that's after finding someone to group up with outside the game and him providing me with most of the stuff like weapons and food. That's playing at least 2-3 hours a night since then and before last night it's nothing but dying and only finding tin cans and a few soda pops and can of beans.
