I still don't understand...there is PvE and PvP, I honestly don't see what the problem is here. Right now the game is pretty cool for what it is but it could be a lot better without having to completely change it to something else. It's still very early development so I'm not worried but I'd like to be able to do a bit more later on and have a bit more gameplay content as well. @Gadget, Would it be better if there were teams then? would you, being killed even with that implement bother you? Is it just because you loose all your items after you die and you want something like a "bank" feature where you can store your loot and no one can touch it but you? would you just play the game if it were just zombies? are you wanting safe zones and NPC guards? Personally, I'm amazed, for a mod that has attracted over 800k players thus far. Not even MMO's with millions of dollars of investment and full development team reaches that much. Even EVE after all these years it has been online only has, what, like 300k or so players? -
Why are people getting satisfied over killing people with nothing on them ?

Whoever else I'm with is entirely different because they could either be people that I do trust like family, friends, or people that have complied to me telling them to drop their weapons and have since been good and now I trust them. -

Because I can get in my car and drive to an In & out and have me a juicy double double, shake and fries then go home and chill and watch some tv and then play DayZ where I can do that kind of stuff. :D -

I can confirm it, because for a fact that's how "I" would act. Everything has gone to shit, resource is low, me and whoever else I'm with are out trying to survive, my mentality would be that everyone else is hostile specially with the ones with weapons. Because then it's real life, it's not a game where I can just respawn after I get killed and that's why I'm ok with it in a game. I might not shoot then and there but I sure in the hell will make sure you drop all your shit and if you don't then well you know where that goes and you really thing the other guy isn't thinking the same thing? -

Oh god, just have them add in the server option for teams, Bandits vs Survivors so that we can get rid of the QQ already. :P -

Although I do agree that we as humans are a hostile race but the major thing to understand is that this is a game so you'll get a lot more a**hats and dbags that just kill other players for fun. To be honest though if this was real you probably won't have many people killing for fun but I'm pretty sure there will be a lot more shoot now ask questions later scenarios. I mean if you think about it, in a post apocalyptic setting where resources are scarce, who can you trust other than the people you are already with? -

Nothing really, it's just that some people have a problem dying and losing all their stuff and some get butt hurt that they got sniped or shot in general. Can't really do anything about that. :P -

Yeah we try to avoid any other players as much as possible but we're set on shoot first ask questions later once we've been spotted so we're not a group that has a mission to go looking for other players to kill. The way we play is to survive by scavenging so that's our first priority and 2nd is to try and avoid other players but shoot to kill if we have to. The whole week of play for me has been pretty fun and I've been killed maybe about 5-6 times but that's when I first started playing and no group. I won't lie, this game does need more content and I'm sure those will come in the later development phases but PvP is not really that bad as long as you play smart and make sure you have a group and if you are set on going solo then you have to make sure you play smarter. -

I've seen a couple of vids where they sneak up and ask for them to drop their weapon so it's possible but pretty risky. -

Right, but we also have to take into account the developers vision and what information they have already provided as to where they are taking the game itself. As someone who is involved in indie game development I do want to see our vision to be true and that's why we choose to be indie. -

K, well was just gonna let you know that the PvP aspect is pretty much similar to those other shooters which is kill on sight. You'll have to think that way when you play, trust no one and shoot first and ask questions later. If you are looking for a group you can find them outside the game and in forums or in steam such as the Survivor HQ. -

I'm sorry, the question was for the OP And, wait...what? LOL You use guns to shoot in DayZ, correct? Again, I'm just asking if the OP has played other shooter games before. A B convo...you know how it goes. -

What other games do you play? is this your first shooter? -
I'd rather have different very well done animations for dying since to me ragdolls if not done right looks stupid.

I was in Beta Block A and that game was so much more fun while it was in that beta time frame, since I do think that it still is pretty much in beta right now. Even after 2 years they are barely releasing the biggest major city and still pretty empty small world riddled with bugs. And I'll say this, that game is an open world full loot game and had mechanics such safe zones and a lot of people still complained about PvP, can you imagine that. -

I liked Dead Island but I wish it had a bit more features similar to DayZ or even PvP, why can't I have that? Competition is always good and we all don't know what the release version of DayZ will look like. If the competition has PvE options, I say good for them! This goes back to their business model and who their target audience is. -

The people requesting these are the VERY SMALL minority It's easy to do, maybe, not saying it is or it isn't, how would you know? Still the question is WHY? Who are YOU or everyone else for that matter to tell the developers of a game how to make their game? Obviously they are going the direction of their vision, so again WHY? And you talk about having players play how they want and give them the tools to do so...well isn't that what DayZ is? it's an Open World Sandbox where you can play PvE and PvP, so what's the problem? -

Oh wow, ladies perfume and a starbucks...great, now EVERYONE will flock to Fry's and they'll make TONS more! Obviously they have that so that girlfriends and wives have a place to hang out at and refreshments for kids so they don't bother the guys. :D -

I found random players to group with outside the game no problem now I'm enjoying the game a lot more.and made some online friends at the same time. -

That's still irrelevant, that's like saying Best Buy or Fry's should start selling food (grocery) products to cater to everyone else. -

Success differs from developer to developer, company to company, etc. What if their business model and their success is to just target the players that do enjoy what they have created?
