The weird part of this game..
jay.pis replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How do you die slower in MW3, BF3, or COD? These are fast paced shooter games. I've kept my character alive for 4 days now (about 12 hours game time) The weird thing is, after 231 posts, just now you think this game is weird? -
Would be nice to have different zombie types in different maps. Maybe have a city map that has RE/L4D type zombies and are very challenging but the map has some elite loot.
-
Then look for blood packs and have a friend use it on you? You can even request help from a medic group that offers help, check the Survivor HQ.
-
Try and shoot them in the head and you get thirsty quicker when you run. Meat gives the same amount of blood when consumed. Game is still pretty easy, zombies are still dumb, plenty of ammo to be found, so much so that I don't even take them when I see them.

What kind of landscape would you like to see in a DayZ stand alone game?
jay.pis replied to scouski's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not speculating anything, as I am in the video game industry (Mobile platform) and standalone even though it still mostly retains its original meaning it has changed enough that we can say standalone as a completely different product that is not connected with the original. Sorry to burst your bubble. That's fine with me, as long as they are able to implement more complex systems/mechanics. You obviously don't know much of any other game engines out there. There are engines out there that can handle 15,000 square miles of terrain seamless (Chernarus is only 210 km2), I'll let you go ahead and find out which ones. Actually I'll even give you one (still in development but promising) and this one might be a doozy for ya - http://outerra.com/wgallery.html And sorry to burst your bubble again. -
Lets see how many players in Dayz KoS, arright?
jay.pis replied to darkanima270's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
KoS yes only if me and my group are spotted and they have weapons. Useless calling out friendly, it's too risky and better to kill than be killed. -
This game will fail long term if the PK problem isnt addressed
jay.pis replied to Gadget (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's all about what they do put in their game and how well they'll be implementing the games systems/mechanics. Mortal Online is shit because the devs sucked at implementing anything, that goes for any gameplay system/mechanics, patches, new content, etc. -

Dude relax, and I'm probably older than you, don't flaunt in here like you're some game guru, just makes you look stupid specially with all the name calling. Yes we all know what standalone originally means, what I'm saying is that we don't know for sure what they'll be doing if they're staying with arma engine or moving on to another. Also, lets stop derailing the thread, if you're not going to stick to the topic then don't post, simple. -

Are you sure about that? :P -

At this time we don't know what STANDALONE really means with the devs. It could either be a standalone using the same arma engine or a completely new game using a completely different game engine. I for one am hoping that they'll use another engine, that or an overhaul of the current arma2 engine because DayZ needs some sort of proper melee mechanics (as well as others) which the current engine does not even support. -

How does that help with the PvP situation? What if I've been defending myself and killing bandits, wouldn't I in turn become a bandit as well? Something like a murder system maybe, where players start off as neutral (lets call them blue players) when they first play and as they kill a certain amount of blue players they turn into a bandit (lets call them red players). Now as a blue player, killing a bandit won't add a murder count on me since I killed a red player and not a blue player. This doesn't really help with the PvP but it does help with knowing who does a lot more killing. Plus if they ever decide to add in NPC guards and shit like that then it'll work with that as well where players can set them to KoS red players. This is cool, maybe spray painting on walls with a location or message or notes and journals that can be dropped for others to find. Agree 100% on this one. Another thing that I'd like to throw in is item/weapon maintenance/degrading system. Also have it so that zeds that are in range will swarm the area of a gunshot so that players have to think twice before firing their weapon. -

Well for one thing the devs could work with the Arma2/3 engine and completely make a standalone but that depends how far they can get since it is pretty much restrictive. Using a completely different game engine is logical as well since they can develop the game how they want without the restrictions of a game engine that is made a certain way for a certain game. -

I am more on the non-fiction side but fiction is fine by me as well. I actually wouldn't mind having different maps on different servers from maps similar to Chernarus big and small then maps that are just big major cities, each map can hold a certain amount of players the bigger ones hold more and smaller ones less. This makes it like it's one big world with different zones just like some MMO's. I guess a good example would be Dead Island where it had 3 different game areas, the Resort, The Village, and the jungle. I'd like to see something like this but in a bigger scale. -
2 zombies isn't worth stopping to shoot them. Just keep playing and learning the ropes and you'll get a lot better. They'll get pretty easy after once you know what to do and I bet you'll start to complain how they need to be more of a challenge.

Actually the biggest problem is that this is just a VIDEO GAME. -

What would you suggest be added to facilitate interaction between players in-game? -
double post.
-
Definitely don't want it to be like another mmo. The way the servers are setup now is perfect and all they need to do is bump up the map size a bit more and the total players per server atleast 250 max and more playable maps. Oh and a standalone version!

Is that for a fact or personal opinion? :P I think leave it as is, though they should be slow moving when using a ladder/fences. or swimming and have a chance to slip and fall as well as drown. Adding in something like a kick attack or something would be good in situations where they're climbing up ladders and you can kick them in their faces. I agree, I hope they fixed the zombies that able to enter closed doors. At least I'd like for them to bang and pound on the doors/gates before they give in and open. -
Having Bandit and Survivors is good enough just make it so that it's a server option. Having this options makes it so that Bandits can only kill Survivors and vise versa.

Those are stores that provide many different products but they don't carry EVERYTHING. Also these stores are called low cost Superstores which is why you only see certain products for example their electronics department, they mostly carry the low cost items and the majority of which are not well known brands. WalMart strives to be the lowest price that's why they dominate, if your product does not meet their price point then they will not carry it, simple as that. What about Best Buy or Fry's Electronics? They're big businesses as well that carry low and high cost consumer/pro products. Can you buy items such motherboards, CPU's, or any of the other products from both these stores in Target? what about WalMart? What about other businesses such as car audio or auto parts stores? why don't they carry groceries or video games or books? Please, lets think before we speak, or in this case, type. -

What I think would help and I did ask if you think it would be good for those people that are not so much into the whole free for all PvP is to add in a server option for teams where if you where on the Bandit camp then you could only kill Survivors and vise versa. I personally think that having that option would alleviate the situation as long as it doesn't change the overall concept of the game itself which is survival. I'm not saying I'm against private run PvE server and I don't have a problem with it, that's all up to the developers if they release it or not. But as long as those players in those servers stay in those servers then it's all good.
