Steam sale broke this game.
Judemoukari replied to Judemoukari's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can't seriously believe that using "Steam sales ruined this game", and right after that saying that it's A BIT PROVOCATIVE can make people this mad. Also, when "CoD kids" became something that's taken seriously? I TRIED to make my post a bit more of a humorous and "not so serious" one, by using term like before mentioned "CoD kids". And it starts a war. After that I also said I enjoy it. I guess you just skipped that part. And I really hate 12 old kids with rifles in a game like this. But you can't really be in right or wrong with that one. -

I didn't say anything like "now that this game is mainstream". My whole point was "now that this game has more players, there's also more issues". -

No, you are stereotyping it with your own behavior. -

Also, it amazes me that playing game before some random Steam sale makes me hipster. Then anyone who has played DayZ before that Steam sale is hipster, right? -

I'm on the Zace's side on this only because you, sir, are an ass. -

Did I at any point claim that EVERYONE in these forums ruin this game for me? No, I didn't. I didn't point you out as an example. Why else would I say this deathmatching over the top if you wouldn't have seen it myself? IMO, it would be even worse if no one would point out any issues about this mod. And everyone knows issue is just a matter of perspective. I also didn't say it should be centered around me. Why would I want that? There's enough shooters out there for that. If you want to enjoy the game, play it. I play it too. And because I play it, I can also tell what I like and what I don't like. There should be no problem with that. -

And that I agree. Biggest obstacle to me was Arma engine, but I after few tutorials and day or two you get used to it. -

Then propably you shouldn't waste your time on it? This post is not because I'm angry of being killed. I'm well past that point. -

I didn't say I don't have fun playing. Why would I waste my time to a game I don't enjoy? A bit dramatic reply, wouldn't you agree? -

Hmm, I just realized that your way of playing is not the issue here. It's the way YOU make ME play. Because I can't trust anybody, I'll have to play it your way and shoot everyone in sight. Of course, I don't play it like that. Yet. We'll see in time if eveyone has to play this like deathmatch. -

You only read first post right? After that, I made absolutely clear that the bad thing is not the growing community and player count, it's people who only want to "break the balance". Or maybe I tell everyone that I'm sorry and reveal that I'm just angry because someone half of my age beat me in this game. -

No, I'm happy that this mod gets all the attention it deserves. I just don't like to way it turns this into Call Of Duty: Modern Zombie Survival Warfare. -

To make my point clear, I don't hate 12 year old kids, I hate the way most of them play shooters. Like CoD. Some of you guys seem to think I complain about banditry. But it's not that. It just feels stupid that there are players who just shoot me and don't even care to check what I carry. That's not banditry to me. -

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings dude. Maybe bad luck then? Before Steam sales I got shot only two or three times, after sales I've died only because of these so called bandits. -
does your dayz (or arma2) run slow (EASY SOLUTION INSIDE)
Judemoukari replied to bully (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is definately something I try. I'll edit my post when I know if it works. E: No real difference in my end, maybe frame or two, but nothing major. Damn, really hoped. -
This post is for my faithful companion. I want to thank you Barney Sti.. something, don't really remember you whole name. You bravely followed me through bandit ridden Elektro, gave me bloodpack when I needed it the most even though you didn't even know me, traveled with me far to the east just to meet my friend who died before we got there, and agreed to meet him back in Cherno. Thank you for giving me support with your axe and sacrificing yourself when one zombie was eating my passed out body. Shame that it only took one to takes us both down. Hoping to meet you again my friend! Don't worry, I looted your body afterwards. And even though you didn't own anything particularly useful, I'm happy to inform that some bandit might have found really good use for them. Your faithfully, survivor called Antti.

Hmm, I never had Enfield though... I didn't have ANY weapons, that's why that Stinton guy was so important. I only had crowbar, and I'm really REALLY bad with melee weapons. That propably explains why we both passed out when we fought that ONE zombie. I've had bad day in DayZ today, died 3-4 times by bandits. That's why I've evaded almost everyone.

New to DAYZ, regretting buy arma to play "the best zombie game"
Judemoukari replied to thehighexalted's topic in New Player Discussion
My advice: play through Arma tutorials. Helps a lot. -
Dont want to be rude, BUT... Firstly, this game is on Alpha state. You can't expect that it works like a dream at this point. Secondly, this is Arma. Controls are and propably will be a bit stiff, but when you learn them, it really works. I honestly think that only Arma engine can make this game as amazing as it is now. Thirdly, removing starting weapon really builds up the tension. I usualle find my first weapon in first 30 minutes. It's about survival, so live with it. Fourthly, Six Launcher bugs pings. When you start it, it shows always 9999 ping. Happens to everyone. Fiftly, you can't play this game if you have no patience. You will get killed. A lot. By players and zombies. But it's part of the game. Don't trust players too much. They will kill you for loot. Not everyone, but some. You can evade zombies by sneaking. It's not rocket science. And yes, I'm really bad DayZ fan boy. Live with it.

So now I can be counted as one of you, growing population of survivors. Took 20 bucks, lots of downloading, and many hours of figuring out how to get this mod working. Did I mention dozen times trying to get to server? And then, I'm dead in 5 minutes. Second try. This time I knew what to expect and I actually manage to survive few hours. And my death wasn't purely my own fault, since it was a bullet out of nowhere that took my life away. Maybe it was bad luck, maybe it was my poor sense of cover. Most of the time I was crawling slowly around towns or fields. Then few kilometers of running and repeat. And everytime I tried to speed things up a bit, I managed to get chased by those raging maniacs. Patience is clearly at test here. Now that I think of it, I actually got to shoot three or four times. I had Lee Enfield, trusty old rifle with 80 bullets. It's funny how I thought that now that I finally have a weapon that I can use for long distance peace making, it will totally change the game. No it didn't. It didn't change anything. And reason was that I didn't think it was wise to use it. One shot in the middle of the city, and your basically dead because of all the zed and bandits swarming to take their share. When did I start to appreciate my life in a game? I had really REALLY bad issues with network, at some point I could play 3 mins and I was kicked out. And that wasn't all. I already knew what Arma engine was like. I have never played anything on it, but this really surprised me. It's incredibly hard to master, it's stiff as hell, and inventory management is straight from my nightmares. It's not THAT bad when you get the hang of it, but at first it's really hard to use. I read these forums a bit before I started playing, and I noticed large amount of hate towards bandits. I also noticed posts that told: "don't trust anyone". I didn't have that kind of experience. In my lifetime I met two complete strangers. First I met in some military base, not far from spawn. I had only hatchet, but so had he. I yelled at him and kept my weapon ready. Turns out we were both low on supplies, and decide to travel together. 10 minutes later I've lost him. I decide to keep on going. Next encounter happens in bigger city. I'm inside house, looting some food, and I hear footsteps. I yell again, and ask if this stranger is friendly and armed. He answers positively. We do some trading, and we're both on our own way. Third encounter was inside some church, in the same city. We negotiate and everything turns out fine. At this point I have almost forgotten all about bandits. I find a compass, and decide to travel north. But first I have to cross the whole city. I feel confident because of the Lee Enfield rifle in my hands. Only few buildings left and I'm out. I check the street. Nothing in sight. I start to run. But damn, one of those walkers comes in the view. He sees me, and starts chasing me. I panick. I see open door ahead of me. I rush inside and close the door. There's lot of them outside, I can tell by the sounds. I move upstairs so I could shoot them. One shot. Two. Three. More run towards the building I'm in. And then I die. I stare at the screen. All those hours wasted. And I don't even know what killed me. I think it was a bandit, but I can't confirm it. Game won't tell me. I click abort and go to desktop. Amazing. Even though I only crawled around city and avoided zombies, it was most intense gaming session I've ever experienced. This is the game that tells you what happens after "Dawn Of The Dead" ending credits roll. This is not only a game in traditional sense. It's experience. I have to admit I hate Arma engine. It's just not something I like to see in games made in 2010. But I still think it's the only REAL engine for this mod. You can't do something like this in any other game engine. It really pulls you in, and it won't let you go. Or atleast I feel that way. You see, I did all these things the way I would have done in real life. I lived in the island of Chernarus. And that is a hell of achievement. In that second I wake up at the coast again, I have already forgotten low fps, laggy zombies, stiff inventory, incredibly slow pace, and buggy gameplay. How could I think about those in the middle of zombie apocalypse, when I'm in desperate fight for survival?
