Hackers can turn into dogs now???
gamerer replied to intelligenttrees's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The dog models already exist and it's theoretically possible to turn into one (I've seen one myself), also rocket said something about them adding in the next patch so yeah. Not sure if you can attack as one, though. edit: -
Nothing gets you more excited and your heart pumping than taking on survivors who are incapable of defending themselves.

Wish List - Advanced Options & More Difficulties
gamerer replied to Chambers (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
All good suggestions but some of them are pretty hard to implement. I personally liked this the best: - Fire! More Fire! - burn buildings, tires, tents, or vehicles - the smoke of a house fire could be seen for miles, and last for hours. -
1% faster movement speed? Useless. Remove the pain effect? There's painkillers for that. Kinda useless item overall, no point drinking either as the sugar just makes you more thirsty (same about most sodas actually).

The screams of a female player being eaten by zombies in Day Z are absolutely horrifying
gamerer replied to evilviking@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Is it wrong to get a hard-on from this? -
When this happens to me, I just alt-tab out of the game and close it from the processes. Fire up the game again and I spawn in my last location with my stuff.

Redeeming yourself as a bandit is not easy as it seems to be
gamerer posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
During the course of my as a player of this mod, I've got into a little triggerhappy spree, killing numerous survivors and bandits alike, sending everyone equally back to hell. After the update that returned humanity and bandit skins back, I decided to make a face heel turn to my former way of gaming and redeem myself as a person, pay tribute to those whose lives I had taken away in the way of protecting the survivors and slaying every bandit I'd meet. Starting at the -427k humanity, I started my one-man crusade to reform myself and rid the land of evil. Or, that's what I thought. After the first hours of making this pact, I already spotted a group of 3 nearly unarmed bandits. Mowing them down, I managed to raise my humanity to a whopping -422k. However, some time after this, I met a pair of survivors, who would immediatly upon seeing me start shooting at me with a lee-enfield and AKM. After managing to kill them also, I saw to my horror that I had dropped down to -429k, even worse than I had begun with. I decided to adopt a safer approach to this whole bandit hunting thing, so I went to my camp and grabbed a 50cal. To my delight, I noticed that the humanity increases over time (only while in movement, I saw no change when camping at the northern airfield hangars). This time around, I decided to go to northern hills of Chernogorsk to shoot fresh bandit spawns for easy humanity increase (lame, but such is the life in DayZ). I shot two pretty fresh spawns, and saw that I did not get humanity increase at all! I did score bandit kills, but the humanity did not move either way. I realized I wouldn't get any humanity this way, so I decided to head west towards Balota, where people usually have atleast lower tier military gear. On my way there, I noticed a guy in military camo sporting a DMR, aiming towards the big white houses east of the airfield hangars. Instead of risking to ask whether he's a friendly or not, I tried to hover over him with my mouse if I could find a heartbeat, but with no success. Deeming him as a bandit as he sported a sniper rifle, I shot him in the back. And boom, another humanity hit. He also left the game right after dying, not even giving me a chance to go through his stuff. Rather annoyed at this point, I decided to head to northern hills of Balota, where you have a good view to the ATC and zombie spawns, should anybody approach the area. However, the area surrounding the eastern hill seems to be swarming with survivors, as a survivor directly approaches me in the woods. Giving me no choice, I shoot him as a precaution. Another humanity hit and only an AKM with 3 clips. After all this and some related mishaps from my part, the humanity has gone down to -451k, killing so many when I'm all for not killing "innocents". The karma seems to have catched up with me after all in the end, only nibbling my ass at this point, but knowing that it'll take a greater chunk, someday. The tragedy of this story seems to be that when I actually try to something good, I end up doing so many terrible deeds. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I just wanted to fit back in ;_; -
Redeeming yourself as a bandit is not easy as it seems to be
gamerer replied to gamerer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Becoming a medic isn't hard, it's getting whitelisted that's not easy, especially with a bandit camo :| -
More choppers would be really cool, but they used to cause insane desync. Can the servers handle two choppers (or more) at a time?

As far as I know, humanity exists in some way, as my friend can look at me and hear a heartbeat despite having no kills on a freshly respawned character. What ways are there to improve it? I'd like to be one of the good guys again... I know blood bags should help some, maybe bandit kills? Also, is there a "least possible number" for humanity around? I've had about 550-600 murders with 100-150 bandit kills total with all characters combined, so can the humanity float at unredeemable numbers? Thanks!

Yes, it's an in-game options related setting that you can modify as you will.

As said there's something like this already, but it's too resource-intensive to be kept on as of now. -
White grass and trees and bushes??
gamerer replied to kylebeed (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Texture quality related, just improve the damn shizzle already. Atleast that's how I got rid of the white stuff. -
Stuck in an ocean broken legs low on health and cant die

I like how well the mod portrays the whole clinging to your life and all, even when you wanted to die. Guess it's part of the whole survival simulation. -
Advanced Trauma Life Support - Near Death Experiences
gamerer replied to semipr0's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Great idea in theory, impossible practically. Also pvp and gameplay wise quite an annoying feature as it boils down to a random chance roll. Not that I minded if everyone went into trauma after going below a certain amount of blood (actual death being at -3k blood or so). -
Logging off the game to avoid death and losing items IS cheating gameplay wise, if not necessarily using cheats or scripts that give you unfair advantage. The current disabled gameplay mechanics allow this, making it viable... Atleast for now. Not that the OP cheated (or did anything wrong, he just heard a gunshot), but people who log off in the middle of combat are the lowest scum in this game, at the same par with cheaters who actually use cheats or scripts. Just sayin'.

Nothing against the bandit skin update, it's actually nice to see a difference between good and bad people, but having a towel like that on regular survivor clothes looks a tad disabled. I'd very much like a black balaclava, would suit the survivor skin better and look thrice more badass.

White trees and bushes and long grass?
gamerer replied to kylebeed (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It's not a RAM issue, I've had the same issue and it was texture related. Try improving the texture/grass quality related tabs, I fiddled with those tabs, lowered quality and ended up with this problem. -
