No, your example is false logic. If 95% servers is 3rd person that makes 5% servers 1st person only, right? If there is no players on them its obvious people dont want to play there. So your example should go like this: "if i put 95 glasses of different kind of soda AND 5 glasses of beer in front of you and said Choose". In this case if no one takes the beer they dont want it.

I count about 600 players from your "evidence". What about these servers: http://s7.postimg.org/r02x8faff/Day_Zero.png There is about 500 players (and much more at primetime). Servers are pretty hardcore, well designed, good fps and guess what? POPULATED 1st person only servers! At this point you choose note to play, you choose to cry on the forums. So sad... There is lots of good servers out there, if you dont find them with with your Commander it does not mean the servers dont exist.

So in here we make a poll for the dayz community ("hardcore fans") and get a result from 3000? players and this is the fact for all players out there? Its the same in your example, isnt it? :D LOL Well, there seems to be a lot of players who want to play 1st person only servers in this message board, so i think this place would be a great place for 1st person only server "marketing". The bolded part probably should be 3rd person? You say casual players dont care? You must be mad! They care, they just dont care enough to find these forums/topics and join the conversation. It is just crazy to think that Dean can do anything he wants to the game and casual players will play anyway. Dude please...

Again Okami said it. Not much to add except your post goes far to the other side of this. Im not saying Rocket is or will make it just for the masses to get money, im saying he wont do all the tweaks just for hardcore fans and make the game hardcore because he loses a lot of money because of it. I think he is smart enough to make it hard survival game but still make little compromises to please the masses and this include 3rd person view. And again this is no problem for each side since you can choose between them.

This is bullsh*t. You can not know this. Lets take the views for example, do you really think the game is uninteresting if there is option for players to choose if they want to play 1st person or 3rd person servers? This is one important thing that makes more sales and wont make Standalone any less interesting/good game.

And by people you mean the small amount of players who actually vote on these polls. There should be study of how much DayZ has players at the moment and how much potential players Standalone has. With this number you can calculate how little percent of players are voting on these polls. Im 100% sure whatever this community does, suggest or complain about the views there will be 3rd person view in the game anyway and here is the reason: money. End of story.

There is lots of games with different difficulty levels, why not in Standalone? Like i said so many times before, there will be 1st person servers and there will be servers with 3rd person on. Everyone can choose where to play and everyone wins. If players decide to go with "easy" thats the way they want to play, end of story. It would be stupid not to include 3rd person in Standalone, really really stupid. There are lots of potential players who will want to play Standalone and dont want it to be too hardcore. I cant belive you guys wont understand this? These players may have never heard of DayZ but they will eventually. So many potential players out there who will not buy the game if its too hardcore. I really hope you all understand this. And there is no problem with the views because you can play on 1st person only servers if you want.

Please dont make a fool of your self. Im sure you read the entire post and just ignored it because okami is right about it. Here is a news flash for you: Dean is NOT making the game only for the hardcore fans. Like i said before he is going to gear it towards hardcore fans but will make it easily approachable as possible for the masses (and that includes 3rd person). He would be REALLY REALLY STUPID if he made the game only for hardcore fans and lose loads of money. The more i read your posts Wayze the more it makes me sad how blind you are about this.

I dont have time to read all the 1600+ posts on this topic. I think 3rd person view can not be completly fixed, you can improve it to be little less exploitable, thats it. I think 1st person needs to be improved so its much enjoyable. If 1st person view was fixed i would play 1st person instead of 3rd person. I said this in another topic but here goes: 1st person needs much more freedom in views. The free look (ALT) works really well at the moment so why not add more to this. For example when you are prone behind a small rock or other small obstacle you should be able to hold down a key (lets say ALT) and use your mouse to peak above the rock, not with your gun, just a peak whats behind the obstacle. This should be implemented for crouch too. You could also use it to crouch lower by moving your mouse down when holding the ALT key. The view in 1st person is too limited at the moment, every little obstacle in front of you blocks the whole view. Think about this realistically, if you are prone behind a fallen tree and want to see whats behind that you wont rise up to your knee to see, you just peak a little to stay in cover. This limitation of 1st person is why i rather play in 3rd person and live with the exploits... And in addition a little off-topic: When you are inside a tree or a bush it should be transparent to you. In real world if you hide in a bush you can move the branches and leaves little bit so you can see whats going on. For now its almost like you are blind when you are hiding in a bush.

This is the most stupid explanation for this. So if there is a lot of players who wants to play 1st person only servers but end up playing 3rd person servers because the 1st person servers are empty why wont you find a good 1st person server, make a post here in the forums about it, get all your precious 1st person fan boys (apparently about 3000 players) together and go play? Whit this amount of players wanting to play 1st person only it should be REALLY EASY task to populate one 1st person server, and if you succeed you could find another good server and another and so on... DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT and stop crying here. If all you guys say is true about what players want and how many there is behind this thought there is no freaking problem, you are making the problem yourselves. If people choose to play the "easier" way and join the 3rd person server, that is what the players want. You cant say "that player really wants to play 1st person server, but 3rd person seems easier so he goes there". If player enjoys the challenge that 1st person provides he will play in 1st person servers, if he dont and WANTS the game to be easier he WANTS to play in 3rd person servers. And for the record i dont care about these polls and their results. I just dont understand how stupid and incapable people can be...

SoulHunter, with that poll result in mind if SA would be released 1st person only it would lose 13% of its current players and disappoint 29% of its current players. And if its released with both views im sure all of the 1st person players would play anyway (because there will be 1st person only servers) and all other would be happy as well. So no loss of players and less disappointed players. Hmm... which one is the right way to go? This is tricky... ;)

Again, in my opinion it is best for all if there is both in the game and the players who wants 1st person only can play in servers where 3rd person is disabled. What the hell is wrong whit that? Can someone please explain this to me, i have asked this several times. And about the first person, its TOTALLY unrealistic at the moment, if im prone behind foot tall rock and i want to peak over it my only choice is to rise up on my knee. The BIGGEST problem with 1st person is the restricted movement. I would want to play 1st person but i wont when it is broken like that. If they add similar body movement as free look to rise up and crouch down i will prefer 1st person over 3rd person. For now its just bullsh*t. Yes the 3rd person is unrealistic too, but this is a game, something i do for fun and its not fun for me if i cant see when prone if there is grass or little rock front of me. Now one more time: 1. Why you try to force everyone to play 1st person only if they enjoy 3rd person much more? 2. There is and will always be 1st person only servers for you guys, why wont you play there or host your own 1st person servers (tweak them how ever you want)? 3. Dont you think that having both options in the game its best for all. And most important its best for DayZ since it wont loose any players over this and everyone wins?

I cant get my head around this one thing coming up over and over again: there is lots of players who wants the 3rd person to be gone, there is 1st person only servers and there is no players. This is absurd. And your earlier explanations about 3rd person being too tempting or some other sh*t is just rubbish. If people want to play 1st person servers they will, end of story. And there is awesome mod called DayZero and they got highly populated 1st person servers without 500 vehicles and 50 cals non-sense. And if you really dont find good 1st person servers you could host them yourselfs, if there is almost 3000 people behind this it should be easy task. You start your own community, ask for donations to support your 1st person servers, if everyone donates average 1$/month you would have 3000 dollars each month to cover expenses from your servers.

You are constantly saying all players should play 1st person, all the time you repeat this in different fashion. I have a question for you: Do YOU want Standalone to be 1st person only or do YOU want there to be option for it (1st person only and 3rd person on servers, both)? And what the hell are you talking about "two big servers?". He could divide the server capacity with these two hives, or do you think he got one supercomputer to do server hosting? :D LOL

1st person is not destroying the game. I want 1st person to be in the game. And you are talking like you know what all people want or what they enjoy. You have to understand thet people are different. This is where you are lost in my opininon. Just because YOU enjoy 1st person more does not mean that all the gamers do. Whats wrong with two hives? If this thing is dividing players so dramatically maybe the two hives is the best way to go, it might be really good for the game. You did not obviously agree on my point in the earlier post so i would like to hear your opinion on what should be done otherwise. And please dont say "force all players play 1st person only". You should now by now its not the right way to go. Actually you said it your self. I think the best solution is two different hives, one for 1st person only and one for 3rd person on. This is kind of two different Standalones, one for each "camp". everyone wins! Right?

I think Dean is building the game in his vision, making the game what he wants. But im sure he is smart enough to gear it towards vast majority just enough so the game is fun for everyone. This is REALLY important for support and for the future years of Standalone. When you get lots of players you get lots of money and when you get lots of money you get more opportunities and freedom to make the game even better. If Dean is makeing this game ONLY for this hardcore community he is really really stupid and i dont think this is the case here. He sure is listening this community to some point. We are his free alpha/beta testers. Back to topic. After all this i think we can agree that when there is option for 1st person and 3rd person it serves all. Its a good compromise. There will be 1st person only servers in standalone. The rest is up to you to populate them. Can we at least agree on this? Or can someone explain why this is not good for the game and its future?

It seems there is lots of people who wants to play 1st person only but they can not find good and populated servers. Well there is this awesome mod called DayZero and there is 1st person only servers that are full all the time. At the moment european servers are populated well and when the other half of the world wakes up the US and AU servers will be populated as well.

Fair enough SoulHunter. And dont mock my grammar, english is clearly not my native language. After Wazes comments i would change the poll question to: "Would you prefer 1st person only in Standalone". With this question all players who wants 1st person only servers would answer yes (even those who are tempted to play 3rd person servers but prefer 1st person). And all the players who WANT to play with 3rd person would answer no. For now this poll makes no sense because all the players who WANT to play with 3rd person have no choice than play with 1st person or dont play at all. Thats a lose-lose situation for them and they choose lesser bad option.
