And where did i say FPV limits this? Or that TPV does this better? We were talking about DayZ in general. You need to start reading more carefully. Where these people come from. Right from a tree?

Here is the basic stances: Now think about if you are prone, you press "free peak" key and move mouse down and your survivor puts his head to the ground to get as much cover he can, at this position you cant see much and cant obviously shoot anything. Now if you press the "free peak" key and move mouse up you could rise your head (and upper body) to a cobra position demonstrated in this picture: At this posture you cant shoot either, only peak over obstacles. And the whole idea of this is to make it move same way the head moves when you use the free look, stepless. Same thing for the crouch and stand stances. With "free peak" key you could move your head and upper body up and down. I think this would be easy to implement, the animations would probably take a lot of work. This system alone would make me play 1st person only.

And this is exactly why i dont play 1st person only. Another thing is bushes and trees, how stupid you are if you cant move one branch/leaf away from front of your eyes, noo you have to move forward and expose your self so you can see. These limitations brake the 1st person for me. 3rd person has its own problems but i can live with them. Arma3 stances are nice addition but dont really do the trick. And is way too clumsy in my opinion. I would keep the 3 basic stances and add similar to free look system that you can hold down a key and move your mouse to peak over or under obstacle. If you release the key your stance would go back where it was just like in free look. This would be easy implement and would be way more better than Arma3 stances. And the hiding in bushes blind thing, i would make the bushes, branches and leaves transparent when you are really close to them, like 20-40 cm or something. That way you could see better (and more realistically) when hiding.

There seems to be lots of people that wants to play 1st person only servers but the problem is there is no place where to play. There is only few servers online anymore where 3rd person is disabled and on theses servers there is not lot of players at the moment. The point of this topic is to solve this issue so the players that prefer 1st person don't have to play on 3rd person enabled servers (because these are the only populated servers at the moment). Solution 1 - DayZero DayZero is close to Vanilla DayZ with some differences. DayZero servers has good FPS and its overall quality is very good. No crazy amount of vehicle or weapon spawns. I think this is better than basic Vanilla. DayZero servers are well populated at primetime. BMRF.ME is currently hosting four 1st person only servers: 1 AU Chernarus 2 US Chernarus 1 US Podagorsk ZOMBIES.NU is currently hosting five 1st person only servers: 2 DE Podagorsk2 SE Chernarus1 SE Podagorsk The BMRF.ME servers biggest problem is that there is a little "pay-to-win" system going on. You get little gear for your fresh spawn if you donate. ZOMBIES.NU servers dont have any "pay-to-win" going on. You only get better clothes and can join easily on full servers if you donate. Solution 2 - Existing serversChoose one good 1st person server that is still alive and go there together. Start topic (or use this one) to get all players who prefer 1st person only together and join all in one server at the same time. This should not be hard if you commit to this. I know there is lot of you who want this so do something about it. Solution 3 - Host your own server/sNow this would probably be the best thing you have ever done to promote 1st person servers. Start gathering players who prefer 1st person only together and create a little community. From this community i'm sure you'll find skilled people to host (and even mod) your own 1st person only servers. You could start with one. Everyone donates few dollars for this project to get it started. If the server gets players and it seems you need another server, go for it. At this point you could build website for this project whit your own message board. This thing could grow fast if there really is hundreds or even thousands of players that prefer 1st person only servers.

This part i kind of can agree with you. But this starts to be more of an opinion than fact. You say playstyle, i say roleplay.. We are pretty much talking about the same thing, we just have different name for it. Forgive me to use word like realistic. It does not make it any more enjoyable or less broken if i tell myself, "well, its only a game". It is unplayable, is that word better for you? Did i say FPV is more unrealistic than TPV? This is AGAIN perfect example of how your mind works. Automatically you assume that this is about FPV vs TPV issue that if something is wrong about FPV i automatically think TPV has it better? Jesus man... Again you think everyone wants what you want. Im roleplaying all the time in DayZ, and im going to continue when SA comes out. It has nothing to do with FPV or TPV or how realistic the game is. I play games because i can experience and do things i would not do in real life. Sometimes i play massmurderer-bandit and kill everything and everyone in front of me, sometimes i play hero, help survivors and hunt bandits. Sometimes i play PvP with my friends, more tactical military style. These are all roleplaying in different styles. DayZ is a roleplaying game, at least in to some point and there is nothing you can do about it. FPV only wont change that. You need to start think other people too, not just your own opinions and think everyone wants/thinks the same. It sound you live in you own dream world and you want so bad that SA would be the perfect game for you, and that all the other people thinks the same way you do and wants to play the game same way you do. And if not? FORCE THEM ALL TO PLAY SAME WAY!!! If they are not happy, they will calm down, they will learn to like your way better, eventually they will accept "your way" and be happy about it. Thats just insane.

I agree. But like i said. 1st person view is so limited, so unrealistic and frustrating, its not enjoyable at the moment. If the 1st person would be fixed completely, i dont miss the 3rd person view at all anymore. Even with fixed 1st person view i want the 3rd person view to stay for the players that want to play with it. I can play on 1st person only servers, no problem. And here is why i want the TPV stay. Lots of people want it in the game and the option for both makes it better for bigger crowd, and that means SA gets more players, more money and keeps the DayZ train going and makes the games future more secure. Its the same thing with TV-Shows. Even if a show is insanely good for hardcore fans it might get low attention and eventyally get cancelled. Im not saying it should be made for the masses, im just saying it should be made in a way that hardcore fans enjoy it lot but also it gets lots of players too. Its a compromise and compromises can be done horribly wrong or they can be made really well, profitable without making the game worse. In my opinion its best for the game if there its option to choose with which view you want to play. FPV only or TPV enabled. And i know this compromise dont help your situation with your friends, but maybe they could fix the FPV, make it more enjoyable and maybe your friends will jump ship? I try to think for all players, not just my personal preferences.

I agree that 1st person is more intense. Didnt i just say that in the earlier post? No need of proof for that, lol. And in my opininon DayZ is FAR FROM HORROR GAME. DayZ is a survival "adventure" game with roleplaying elements (with out character development). Yes, there is horror moments and yes, there is shooter action. These two are making the survival adventure experience richer. If this was a horror game it would be, or rather should be way different, much different.

I would love to see skill system in DayZ. If you get attached to your character and dont want to lose all your skills you do everything to stay alive, you might think twice before attack someone. It might be better to stay unnoticed and run away. But i dont want it to be point system. It should be "under the hood", so your skills grow automatically. You would notice it when you do stuff that your skills has grown but there should not be points that you add to some skills, that is not for DayZ.

Well these are choices in life and not everyone is in the same situation. And there has been a thought here that Standalone should be released without 3rd person view. And in your situation it makes perfect sense. But its unfair for others that wants to play with 3rd person view enabled to force all play 1st person view only to satisfy your needs. That my friend is selfish. DayZ is not first person shooter, its more of a mmorpg. And 3rd person fits to this kind of game well. I'll stand behind my words and say there should be both. When SA release comes there should be servers for both views. And would like to see improvements and fixes for 1st person view (dont really care about 3rd person fixes since its impossible). I also feel strongly for two different hives. This could keep players on 1st person only servers if they start to play there. I prefer 3rd person servers but i dont want the 1st person only gameplay to disappear. I want it to get better so i can enjoy it more because its more intense and i like that feeling, for now its just too unrealistic and frustrating. Sorry about your situation. That sucks.

This is a good idea for 1st person only servers.

When did i say you must replace or change your friends? Come one, i said you could do little both like i do. I play hero time to time (sometimes alone) and then i play PvP with my friends. Why you need to twist my words so much? This might be the case with your friends but you cant think thats the case for ALL the players and use it to get 3rd person disabled from all Standalone servers! I know this post is for 3rd person lovers in generally but i say this one more time: I would prefer 1st person view if it was not so unrealistically limited and makes the game frustrating. I enjoy much more the game when i can switch between the views and live with the exploits. And yes it does make the game easier in some situations. Thats a no-brainer.

The poll proved that most of the minority of ALL players... And lots of these "i would buy and play SA even if its 1st person only" voters are not happy with this choice.

This is what i cant understand. The minority trys to force everyone to play their way. Just ridiculous. And all they have to say to defend their case is these stupid polls. And how the polls tell the truth about ALL players out there. Just kind of dumb.

What i have read from other people posts the biggest problem is group of friends that prefer different views. With 3rd person enabled servers you can play both but 1st person view is in disadvantage on these servers. That really sucks. I prefer 3rd person and i do exploit the views because everyone else is doing it too. But the solution for this problem is not to release SA without 3rd person, that would be HUGE mistake!

You need new friends. Or at least more people to play with in 1st person view. I dont see this as a big problem. I do this all the time. I play hero at one private hive and when i feel like PvP with my friends i jump in another. You die so often in DayZ that is not a big deal playing in two different hives. And disappoint your friends? Ruin the Standalone experience from your friends? They must be proud of you. Well, it came up on the other topics that there is lot of players that is forced to play at 3rd person enabled servers because there is no traffic on 1st person only. It seems some of these people are now suggesting that Standalone must be released without 3rd person completely. That is a little harsh and not the right way to go. 1st person needs just more attention to get things rolling again. And yes, pay-to-win is the last thing this game needs. Donations are fine but you should not get advantage over other players whit it.

If this is too late for you i would like to hear your thoughts if things were different. If you still wanted to play the mod and only in 1st person servers, Are my suggestions any good? I think people are just lazy and wants everything they like about the mod on silver plate or else its crying time on the forums...

Wait a minute. So you don't want 1st person server for your self (and tens or hundreds of other similar players) you want to ban 3rd person from all players? Nice agenda dude. How many players YOU need to play on 1st person server? The limit on one server is around 50-60 anyway. 200 should be enough. And if its a good server where 1st person players enjoy playing it will get more attention than just one topic. And you could promote it elsewhere also. If you are not interested playing the mod anymore and focus on standalone the same thing is going to happen there. You should prepare your self for it. Dean will certainly not disable 3rd person view from the game and disappoint thousands and thousands of players. So there is going to be 1st person only servers and servers where 3rd person is enabled. What will you do then? Continue cry here or do something that matters about it?
