Wow. So I actually read every single post in this entire thread. So, now that I have, I will post my two cents, simply because I can. Ravin, we get it, you work hard to hold up four servers. Good for you. You are not even in the least little bit impressive. Not saying that I am, just stating that you are not. Having said that, you are correct, in a way. Allow me to set up a scenario. There is no law in my home state that says I cannot walk down the street telling every single person I see to "F off." To that end, I've done it at least once. Now, that means that because there is no "You cannot do that," law out there, I can't be thrown in jail, I can't be fined, hell I can't even be scolded by a law enforcement representative. That leads me to be able to say, without any shadow of a doubt, Ravin, that you need to shut up. No rudeness in it, just simply, shut the hell up. You have absolutely ZERO authority on these forums, and probably little elsewhere. Your and anyone elses interpretation of the rules is simply that, an interpretation. Until a dev or whatever entity handles these sorts of situations actually says "You cannot shut down your server to prevent damage to the players and their enjoyment of the game via hacking," you should just stop typing. Oh and before one your little cronies in this forum says, "But Nitewing, look at the jpeg," I saw it. I am still unimpressed. The question asked was completely unrelated to the topic. You said protecting their gear and did not mention their claimed reasoning for doing that. Now that all that is out of the way. Ravin, I have absolutely nothing against you and really do thank you for your tireless effort to run those three servers. It really is a thankless and burdening job and I hope that, in the near future, it becomes easier to do with a portion of it being automated, freeing up your time to actually enjoy the servers you make the time to maintain. As for the server in question. Stop it. Just plain stop it. You are correct and I defend that in the TOS it does NOT say that you cannot do what you are doing. However, there is a morality issue here. After I walked down the street telling everyone to "F off," and the liquid courage ran out, I'm sure I felt horrible. It's just not something an upstanding citizen should do. We get it, you have a safe haven and your little buddies skip and jump all merry through the zombie corpses. It's an adorable sentiment and a nicey nice concept, but it's morally wrong. Why should you get to skip through the dasies while my clan trudges through the bile and various bodily fluids left behind after a raid? So, you're both wrong. Hows that? Ravin and your groupies for stating something you have no place to state and the server for making the morally wrong decision. Hopefully, what it boils down to is either an edit to the rules to blanket statement this behavior, or at least post here, given the severity of the situation. Oh, and flame all you want, I probably wont be reading this thread any longer. Have fun kids.

And when all the windows are repaired? /wait

    helicopter gas...

We just got the chopper repaired completely, everything's green and we cannot repair any more parts (we have everything and tried it once or twice). It is still leaking. I'm not sure what else we can repair.

    Banned for combat logging

It needs replies, honestly. And this issue needs to be front paged. Sure, Rocket and his team are placing a system to take care of it, but in the meantime, players are suffering because of the idiocy of a few. There are very few things that cause frustration, personally, in video games. Exploiting and hacking are the two. But what agitates me to no end is the lack of control the admins have over their own servers. If it were up to me, there wouldn't even be a discussion. If I saw a log that had you logging out even within one minute of a firefight, you'd be gone, plain and simple. "Admins are ruining the game with bans," I see that a lot. Okay, I'll admit there are a few bad apples out there. Chances are they are alt+4ers themselves on other servers, but there are also admins like the fine people of the server in question. They want to create an environment that people can enjoy and alt+f4ers, ghosts and script kids are ruining that fun for EVERYONE, including themselves (the game loses all purpose when you do crap like this). To recap: Give admins the power they need, hurry up with this so called "fix" that's in the works, and until you have it, make events like these bannable. I don't personally know anyone on US88, never played there, and have no stock in this argument other than the fact that my own server experiences a lot of this. Even if it already is a hot button issue, it still should be thrown in the devs' faces everytime they log onto the forums. As I understand it, even if you do file a ticket, either nothing happens or it takes so long that the issue becomes irrelevant.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

Intent doesn't matter, at all. Not even in the least. You and your friend should have decided to grow a pair in that instant and handle the situation using the server on which the incident happened. You are still trying to justify it, but it happened. Anyway, it's not nearly big enough of a deal for me to argue anymore about it. Have fun hopping servers!

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

I think he reads just fine. You said that you did exactly what your definition of server hopping is. Even if you hop to a different server and go, "Oh, I'm close to the airfield! I should go loot it!", you are still server hopping for loot spawns. What you are saying is the same as me saying, "Oh yeah, I was getting shot at right when my kid woke up, so I had to Alt+F4. Oh, but I didn't get anything good, just a poop diaper." The point being, that you are using justification. You even express it in, "Fyi I didn't even find anything I good." Anyway, this is off-topic. C'mon 1.7.2.4! We rounded up a car load of chopper parts in anticipation!

New players guide from Bandit point of view

Devil is right about the gamma/brightness. It is completely unrealistic how dark it gets. If you want it to feel more authentic, run around for about an hour, then change your gamma/brightness as your character's eyes gradually adjust to be able to see better in the darkness. Besides, the moon should provide more ambient lighting than it does. Just my two cents. As for flares, I use them all the time. I throw them, make sure they go high from my current position then move to a location where I can see my previous spot. The only people that should be going there is bandits. I do oh so love to shoot those pathetic wastes of life after tricking them with a flare. I've yet to have a single bandit with the mental capacity to realize it is a trap. So really, I guess the real tip should be: Don't use flares unless you know what you are doing and stay away from flares or the location that they came from, because someone could be waiting to kill whoever goes near that location.

I will never be a bandit. Survivor nice-guy stories

May be the general thought, but I've come across plenty of people, before I clanned up, that had great gear and didn't show any hostility towards them at all. Hell, one guy had an L85 and I just let him be (I could have nailed him easily with my M24). It's who you run into, not just a general rule. Besides, if you are that worried, do what I do and hide your primary in your bag. I do that in Cherno/Electro and have had people pass me up thinking I wasn't well armed. And when you are at a point where I am now (multiple camps with multiple sets of compasses, maps, tons of med supplies) you really don't need pack space, it's just nice to have.

I will never be a bandit. Survivor nice-guy stories

My role has changed a bit, I'm afraid. While I am not a bandit, I have joined a clan and as such have a group of people that I trust. I have, while in this group, fired warning shots at other survivors to scare them away from our position, but recently I decided that this is too much work. On our first night together, we had two MKs, an M24 and a various smattering of assault rifles just in between Novy and Stary. We were chatting when someone saw four survivors running in the distance. We immediately made a firing line and took them all out within a few seconds. I fired one shot with my M24, only to kill one of them that my clan mates had (I'm pretty sure intentionally), just got a leg shot on. It was my first murder ever and I felt pretty bad, but then I began to learn the necessity for it. Our camps have been getting hit pretty hard. Vehicles disappear and weapons are taken from tents almost daily. We decided it had to be someone being careless when moving and were being tailed by a rival clan that (used to) play on the server. So we decided it would be best to only have tents for pairs of us. My second murder came on a newly spawned, completely unarmed person and from his movement, it might have even been his first day in game. By this point, I had an AS50 that I used when provided overwatch from a fairly short distance. I was in the tents, getting a few jerry cans to keep our PBX fueled (you need it to get to this camp :P). I got out of the inventory screen and began to run to the boat when i saw someone standing on the opposite shore looking right at me. I stopped, went prone and fired the shot all before he even had time to run. It hit him square in the chest. "Robbie was killed". I really hated to do it, but he was too damn close to my camp. I wasn't about to lose all that we'd worked so hard for. I'll always be the guy that shoots randomly and say "Oh, misfire. Sorry guys" as I watch a survivor run the other way, but as our server becomes more and more hostile, I'm probably going to have to give up on that. Oh! Our tents bugged out about 15 minutes later and we lost everything anyway, including our boat...karma.

Saw two survivors crouched down next to a wall. I was on the hospital roof. I saw a sniper that would hit them if they came around the corner (he was aiming right at them from what I could see). So instead of shooting the sniper (who for some reason hadn't seen me), I shot the wall in the direction the two were going. They had no idea where the shot came from so they turned and ran the other way, avoiding the sniper that was waiting for them. I hope they made it out. Edit: Worth it to mention that I died shortly after that shot as the sniper turned his attention to me immediately. Also, I shot at the wall because it was too far for the in-game comm to reach them.

A huge thank you to whoever you were

Nah, I know for a fact that it was three digits. We typically go for those to eliminate confusion when linking up. But, if you do help people, good on you, man. It's how I hope to play every time I log on.

A huge thank you to whoever you were

It was a US, not sure of the number (we pick at random) maybe 838. It didn't sound like an M24, more like a Lee.
  13. So I had just spawned in a new character (voluntarily I might add to meet my friend). I realized pretty quickly that I was right outside of Cherno and was elated. This meant that all I had to do was hit up the fire station, hospital, pub and then corner store and I'd be on my way to meeting up with my friend with a bunch of goodies for us both. So initially, I decided to take it pretty quietly, ducking around corners, leaning out to spot check my next bounding point, everything that one should do when surrounded by possible z and player hostiles. After a while, I heard some gunshots off to the east and saw the zed take off in that direction, it opened up a great hole for me to sprint to my first objective, the firehouse. Inside I found two weapons, an AKM and an AKS-COBRA, I decided on the AKM (there were more mags), and left the AKS-COBRA with the thought that if I find an alice pack, I'd come back and grab it for my buddy. I left the firestation still hearing gunfire and assumed it was keeping the zed busy. So I shot out of the firehouse like a bolt and sprinted for the corner store (grocery). Inside there was a mak, two tents, and an alice pack! It was on my way back to the firestation (I'd actually swung out and hit the church and even a pub before swinging back to give the loot time to respawn), that I ran in to a zed. He was just standing in the middle of the street, so I popped him with my Mak, a bad decision. I did the typical wait and didn't hear or see anything coming at me so I started to take off again, then I heard it, a horde. I looked over my shoulder to see at least ten zed, all but two were runners, so who knew how many more were behind them. I made for the apartments, thinking I could lose them there, or at least delay them enough to shoot out the windows of the hospital (I was an idiot not to take cans to throw). Just as I was getting to the apartments, I stopped to fire off two rounds from my mak at the windows. Right when I was about to run, one zombie (apparenlty the only one left), tore into me and knocked me out. I laid there, bleeding and unconcious. With a simple glance I could tell that my blood was going to run out well before the hourglass. Just as I had given up hope and was telling my friend I'd probably be a litte late (dramatic in it's own way), I heard a snap and the zombie slumped onto my body. In my mind, I knew there would be another and I would go down, a bandit claiming my loot. Or that it was my friend, and in the fashion we're known for, he would have retreated after the shot, as to remove the risk of both of us dying. No other shot rang out. I regained conciousness and shot the windows of the hospital out. I had used my only bandage before and was working my way towards dead every second due to bleeding. I got into the hospital and managed to loot a bandage, some morphine and a blood bag for when I found my friend (assuming I survived this). I went to work bandaging myself and giving myself some morphine. I attempted a bit of triage and started to plan my exfil. I sprinted north, to the tree line but managed to pick up three more zed on the way. I saw a player crouched with an MP5 and knew it was my buddy (that's what he'd had last we played). He turned and took out the three zed with expert shots, grabbed the blood bag out of my pack and I was back to full. As we began making our way north, I thanked my friend for killing the zombie that almost ended me in Cherno. To which he replied, "I"ve been up here for about ten minutes, I never even saw the hospital." I stopped dead in my tracks and looked back to Cherno. We'd heard a hail of gunfire happening and the "<name> has been killed" messages were scrolling fast. I had a quiet moment of contemplation and hoped, actually hoped, not the kind of hope of "man I hope that chopper is there" kind of hope, but the "I hope something truly significant of real life import happened" kind of hope, that my savior was okay. I asked my friend if we should head back to see if we couldn't help in some way. He made me then realize that there was no way to tell who had helped me, and even then, if he or she was in a firefight of that magnitude, either they were already gone, or didn't need our help. So we went North and I will always have the memory of the person who saved me. It's a game, sure, but that split second of brilliant humanity is what makes this game worth playing, despite the outright inhuman action of some. So to whoever you are, if you're reading this, thank you. TL:DR - Was dying, someone saved me, hope they lived.

    Introduce yourselves

Name's Nitewing03. Dom in game and yesanditsall4u on Steam (see Minecraft Parody (18+) for elaboration on the name. Been playing Day Z for awhile, don't have a living character though. As you can guess you can find me always running around with Batman (Bob in game) thwarting crime and..shooting...zomb..in...ahem... <_< We stopped playing a bit due to the fact that we got shore camped by two snipers ( we got shot, died, came back and got sniped in two different places). We suspected hacks so we just logged off, havent logged back in since. Hoping to change that tonight! No home server here, just look for a good ping and typically in the US Region.
