    No Respawn button now? /sigh

@ Bush - Make a suggestion in the suggestion forum, a better method for meeting up with your friends. QQ is useless. Try to make a valuable addition to the project, rather than just whining about not having as much fun as you were expecting to have.

    No Respawn button now? /sigh

Have a look towards top of page 2 Sync, I wasn't complaing - I was just attempting to provide some clarification into the issues. Basically, that complaining about no respawn button is misdirected anger about a potential suggestion which belongs in the suggestion forum.

    "Its in Alpha" Statement

That's really going to depend on the bug itself, and the context. It is in their best interests to remove or provide workarounds for bugs which bring down production, but the purpose of the alpha has already been fulfilled insofar as the bug has been reported to the appropriate people.

    No Respawn button now? /sigh

To quote the first sentence in my post: "to find your friends" is the real problem. People want a better way to link up with their friends. The respawn button is the current solution, but not a viable one in the long run. Sadly I say again - think, then write.

    "Its in Alpha" Statement

While it is kind of people to assist and provide workarounds, it does not help fulfill the purpose of the "alpha" phase of software development. They are under no obligation to provide you with assistance, nor does it really benefit anyone in the interim. This game only exists as a free entity such that they can get valuable testing information, all of which is to provide us with a better experience in the end.

SERVER DOWN: How to play :)

    Bumping for helpfulness :)

    Elektro / Cherno Suicide Run.

My squad and I spend most of our time around Cherno and Elektro, prowling for snipers on the rooftops and protecting new players :) It's just more interesting than the alternatives, imo.

    No Respawn button now? /sigh

Respawning to find your friends is essentially an exploit which produces unnecessary server load. Removing the respawn button fixes multiple items (accidental deletion of character, server lag), and raises awareness to the real issue which frequent respawns is only a symptom of. Think, then write.
  9. Glad to hear so many found it enjoyable :) Gotta take the fight to 'dem bandits! I forgot to mention that the reason it took so many shots for Thon to take out the sniper was because of the zombies he pulled with the first couple shots... It was pretty comical: Me: "Is he down yet?!" (dodging bullets) Thon: "Hold on, we pulled zombies, gotta take 'em out." Me: "..."
  10. Combat log is an exploit, and they're going to try to fix it (Rocket has posted on the subject a number of times). Maybe you should avoid hills which are known for snipers...

I was victim of a hacker

Wait, did you really just do the "No, you!" thing? Yikes. Best of luck to you sir in your future forum endeavors! (...)

I was victim of a hacker

I find your signature to be very amusing, in light of your post. Don't get attached to your character or your gear, and avoid servers known to be hacker-hangouts. L2P basically.
  13. If they're just as vulnerable, but they're required to stay in one area... what's to stop them from being very dead? Constantly.

    Law to Lawless Lands

As an aside, i can't wait for the "infiltrator" bandits. :D

    Law to Lawless Lands

Uh... they're far more organized than the vast majority of survivors.

    Breaking Point <.<

    @ OP - pathing matters. You'll learn someday :)
  17. I don't see this changing the landscape of DayZ, except to create a goto place for newbies and snipers alike (newbies thinking they're safe, snipers enjoying the free kills). This won't have an impact on a game where you can kill at 1200m. Personally, a nerf on the current sniper rifles, such that a mobile and intelligent player can beat them easier probably wouldn't hurt. THAT said, I think that snipers are mostly only bad for new players. Experienced people know to stick to the trees, zig-zag in the open, and use overwhelming fire-superiority (groups) to stay alive. For a survival game, these things may seem like common sense, but I think learning them is an as designed part of the experience - people should be grateful they get more than one spawn...

    DayZ so F***ing Hacked I can't play.

I still haven't witnessed a hacker, 2 weeks in now. I wonder sometimes what servers the people who are complaining are playing on...

Day Z is soon to be dead

810k unique players and climbing... it was 550k just last week. I wouldn't worry about the life of DayZ - not very many games have such a following in the Alpha stage.

Try and be nice to all the nublets

It's funny - I ran around for about six hours yesterday with my team (5 total) - we ran into 5-8 people total. Only about half of them were hostile (which we dealt with promptly). I don't think the community is as bad as people like to complain it is. I've become much more wary since I started (requiring new people to either drop their weapons or point them at the floor until I'm past), but I've seen quite a few players who are just longing for people to play safely with.
  21. I'd be very concerned...
  22. Groups spent hours just finding each other and getting geared - they're probably friends IRL and are not going to risk their time investment on a newcomer they don't know. Lone-wolf players are not in a group - this is probably for for a reason. I have found one or two guys in the world who it was safe to run around with, each time I had to make a choice to trust this person. You just have to accept that most of the time, they're going to betray you. At least you can respawn...
  23. Greetings! Background: I'm 25, married, and I've been playing video games since I was a very small child. I tend towards competitive games, where there is always an opportunity to improve either myself or some teamwork element. I have to be honest: out of the hundreds of games I have spent countless hours playing - this one is unique. Many of you already know this, and that is why you continue to play. Nevertheless, I thought it might be worth my time to attempt to articulate why I appreciate this kind of game so much. Permadeath: It's brutal. It makes you question every decision you make, as you make it. It makes you fearful of every tree, every rock, and not least of all... to even log in. DayZ is not the first game to offer permadeath, to be sure, but it is one of the first I have played in which that death leaves a lasting impression. You may have read or seen the quote, "the gods fear mortals", for to those whose time is short on this earth - all things are sweeter. Every moment alive is precious. Never before have I been fearful of an open field. Never before have I spent so many minutes of my life watching another player from afar, trying to determine whether they are a threat. This leads me to... Stories: Every time I play DayZ, I come away with a story to tell. This game bleeds stories, from every pour. I am not saying anything new here, as these forums are alive with hundreds, if not thousands, of entertaining stories. I honestly enjoy reading what has happened to others, almost as much as creating my own stories in the world. Every person you encounter, be they a 14-year old bandit, or someone looking for a friend, is an opportunity to craft a unique storyline. You could have zero interest in role-playing (me), and still, a story comes to life the longer you survive. This contrasts VERY strongly with the current offerings of the competitive FPS scene (BF3, MW3, etc) - these games seem dull in comparison. What kind of stories can you tell? "I spawned and got SEVENTEEN kills before dying!" This leads me to my last point... Meaningful Gameplay: If I kill 17 players in COD, I have had no more impact on them than the amount of time it takes for them to respawn and come after me. When you take the life of a player in DayZ, you have no way of knowing how much investment you have just snuffed out. One thing is for sure though, they're gone. Their story just ended. When you die, it is a bittersweet moment - your own story has come to a close. In that very moment, thankfully, you have the opportunity to start a new one, a new path. You will meet new people, go to different places, and find different things. I experience loss, hope, and joy. This is one of the first games I have ever played where I feel like the choices that I make actually matter. Cynical Rant: I am aware that this experience is not for everyone. I am aware that some people view this game as team deathmatch with the added maintenance of finding your weapons and opponents prior to beginning. This post is not for you - I understand you, the desire to triumph, to prove my worth, to stoke my ego - I have games better designed for that purpose, if that is what I seek. To the Development Team: Kudos to you guys. Your vision, transparency, and desire to create something special deserves much praise in an industry which is turning more and more to recycled, repetitive, and redundant gameplay.
