    Direct chat range?

Shame - would be sweet if they added it so if you had the radio you could broadcast to everyone or something - seemed a shame to leave rare gear like the FN FAL NVS lying on the ground ;-)
  2. Hi all, Ran across a downed chopper this morning and there was a FN-FAL NVS, FN FAL and an M14 - i took the FAL ammo for my tent and then posted in direct chat the location of the downed chopper and the gear that was left (basically i only needed the ammo). My question is - Is direct chat visible to everyone on the server or is it only those in range like mic speech? I'm not really a bandit or a hero... just taking each day as it comes, but if i find a chopper i'd like to let people know - if only so i can sit on a hill and watch them fight over the gear lol
  3. Probably the guy i was toying with yesterday on the shore at Cherno... Been mostly killing up north but went south to snipe some snipers... saw a guy spawn on the shore and watched him go in the church... When he came out i shot him with my M4 SD till he passed out. He came to, bandaged, then i shot him again... let him bandage, then shot him again... then a zed ate him.... Sadistically fun.... I usually don't kill fresh spawns, but when i do, I make it last ;-)

    DMR bi-pod useable?

ah - ok - i'm not a bespoke sniper, but was wondering if it was deployable. I run my M4A1 SD 95% of the time but having a good sniper rifle to counter snipe is fun ;-)
  5. Just found a DMR in the barracks (and there was much rejoicing). Does anyone know if the bi-pod is usable/functional? If so, how do you deploy it?
  6. Its the food chain in action.... Bandit kills survivor and eats survivors beans and takes his stuff Zeds eat survivor Nothing goes to waste! Very efficient IMO ;-)
  7. I was starving when i hit the NWAF and was running around pretty care free as i was losing 20 blood a second.... I swear when you NEED something all you find is everything else lol Killing those guys literally saved my life as their food was more valuable than their other gear to me, but in the long run it will serve me well. Gonna hunt some animals and build up my blood before returning to anywhere populated by Zeds or Survivors/Bandits. Best thing i've found to survive is to strike fast, loot quick then vanish/relocate into the forests. That way anyone looking to find you ends up getting whacked where their corpse was by someone attracted by the gunfire. I also have a pattern of places i hit and i change it every week, never going to the same place twice during a week ;-)
  8. Just wanna say thanks for not Alt+F4'n after i shot you both - I was in the firestation/tower on 3rd floor just looting and saw one of you crawling toward me - took you out with my M14 AIM near doors of second hangar then saw another survivor crawling within the hangar aiming for a shot and took him as well. Guy outside had an M16, guy inside had the M4 CCO, matches, map, entrenching tool and food - thanks bud ;-) Lost a lot of blood to zeds but was worth it ;-) If you want revenge i'll be on US513 or US523
  9. I've been playing DayZ for around a month now and just want to say thanks to everyone from Rocket, developers, server donators and community. I've been gaming for a long time (think Pong) and this is by far one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've had. I've never played a game where i was so willing to accept bugs and glitches (which are cool, this is still alpha) because the gameplay and style, atmosphere and community were so engaging. I don't understand why everyone is saying we need more real this and less real that - its a game, clearly a successful one given the speed and size the community has grown - and it should be viewed as a game. I love that you can start with nothing and can work to being an over-powered bandit, or just grab some tools and bug-out into the woods and are not constrained into any role at any point. You can be a loner, or try to find friends that are playing nice or hunting people in a helicopter. This game captures what I would envision in a post-apocalyptic world. You can only truly trust yourself, you're constantly on your toes, you're constantly weighing risk vs. reward and when you get it wrong you die... In a world filled with save points, infinite respawns with full kit etc. and games that let you take 4 hits from a shotgun and still knife the shooter (yes COD i'm looking at you!), its a refreshing game that punishes you if you rush in head-long, don't plan things out etc. Anyway - if I see you in game, i may run or i may fight...

    Very Hostile Playerbase

Hostile player base? Really? In a zombie apocalypse? Who'd have thought.... Should we all just hold hands, share beans and sing songs round the campfire? Go on... I dare you to light that camp fire... If the zeds don't get you... the bandits will ;-)

    Pitfall/Punji Sticks

I ran across a camp yesterday and the owner wasn't there... i'd love to have set some booby traps and then wait for them to return ;-) Also, it would be one of them things confined to forest areas, so you can't make one in the street etc. I know in a SHTF situation if i'm in the woods i'm not laying out reams of barbed wire and bear traps - punji sticks all the way ;-)

    Add an L85 variant

Also if it were true to life, that thing would jam every 10-12 rounds lol

    Footprints

I think in conjunction to this - seasons! Think how cool winter would be - tracks in snow and only the pine/evergreen trees offer cover. Also would mean that you'd need to swap out ghillie suits to match the seasons - nothing like sitting in your green ghillie suit on a snowy white field lol

    Pitfall/Punji Sticks

Given that we now have bear traps, it would be cool to enable the creation of a pitfall punji trap that causes bleeding/broken limb if you have an entrenching tool, hunting knife and a hatchett. Dig the hole with entrenching tool. Cut wood with hatchett Sharpen spikes from wood with hunting knife. Gather some leaves from bushes to camouflage. Can be used to catch game or wound survivors/bandits.
