Player A (who actually is a bandit in the proper sense of the word, not just someone who kills for the sake of it) gets the drop on Player B who is looting a corpse/tent/checking inventory/not paying attention, Player A walks up to Player B and smashes him in the back of the head with the butt of his primary weapon. Player B is knocked out, Player A loots his stuff and scoots off. Player B recovers, is happy he is still alive but then sad as he has no stuff left and its a long way to Tipparary, er Cherno. Basically a melee type attack only possible when equipped with a rifle, non lethal (but knocks them out, maybe minor blood loss too?).

Hacking/scripting (whatever term you prefer) is a problem, having a head in the sand attitude does not make that less of a fact. Over the past three days I have been thunderdomed, mass kill & main cities on fire. Last night I was in the arse end of nowhere having got a tad lost whilst just out exploring when a player appears 6 ft behind me and kills me. The most gucci piece of kit I had was bino's as 'that life' was just to explore the map. All of these happened on various servers, with populations from 40 down to 6 (that was the teleporting behind me incident). I didn't experience any hack/scripting for over 2 weeks of playing but the last three days speak for themselves imo. I suppose it is a question of luck, given the amount of servers, if your play time runs into that of a hacker/scripter.

Before I posted this I did a search and nothing came up, so.... Watching the Sidestrafe/Rocket interview on YouTube the phrase 'make death harsher' came up. The context of the phrase was in some speculation between Rocket & Sidestrafe on the future direction of the mod. What if when you are killed everything you own despawns. Obviously all your gear you are carrying will but I'm talking about anything you have stashed in tents, or vehicles etc. Everything. Including those tents and vehicles themselves. Gone. No more being killed, respawn on the beach and run to your cache of 300 rifles and gearing up again and carrying on. It's late, I've had a long day and this is just a very rough thought.

Stay off the E-numbers in your bag of Skittles and go ask your parents what the word 'discussion' means then, please, come back and contribute. As for PvE only servers? I'd sincerely hope not although I wouldn't rule out a single player mode in a standalone to aid with the learning curve.

'Moderation' does not equal censorship. I did my good deed for the day with a player I ran into who was on his first day playing DayZ. I was scavenging a barn near Kazlovka when I got complacent and pulled some zed aggro, so I ran into the barn and was suprised to have Winchester fire take on the zed chasing me. The new guy was up in the barn and had the drop on me but we both called 'friendly' over direct chat. He was a fellow Brit, so I agreed to help him out. We headed over to the supermarket in Zelengorsk where he stocked up on food & drink, plus a pair of binos. Our extraction got noisy but got clear OK. I pulled wife aggro at that point so had to log, Bernd, I hope you had a good first day.

This server has been hacked again this morning (1000 GMT 2 Aug), mass kill and respawn at wilderness. Respawn at Elektro which is burning like a cheap whores gusset. Shame, I was enjoying that server. If any EGG guys read this, thanks for hosting.

It is a sad fact that the anonymity of the internet emboldens the antisocial and the abusive and the prejudiced. Whilst I enjoy a bit of forum banter, there is a line and the excuse of 'itz teh interwebz so dealz wiv it' is poor to say the least. I see no difference in levels of social behaviour be they online or offline. Common courtesy seems to be a dying trend. I've served 22 years (and still going) in the Army so I'm no stranger to harsh language but some of the venemous posts here make me wonder why any of us bother.
