Just dropped an M107 sniper rifle in Stary Sobor grocery store (more...)
kebman replied to AIRCAV's topic in New Player Discussion
It's a trap! :D Edit: Sorry, couldn't help myself... -
Some of my friends are kind of annoying to play with, actually... For some reason I find it very relaxing to just put on the jogging simulator and run into the woods to hunt far off and non-existing bases.

What's a good way to make players not shoot?
kebman replied to Imafighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Get into cover. Take aim. Say "Friendly", but point out that you have him in your sights. Then command him to drop his gun. If he doesn't obey, you can be sure he's up to no good, so put a round or two in him to let him know that you're not kidding around. If he's planning to kill you, then you can be sure that he's going to come after you if you try to retreat. However, if he's obeying nicely, then you can probably trust him enough to at least have a chat. Whether he's trustworthy for longer than that chat depends entirely on how he acts, and your gut feeling. Often gut feeling is enough. So, to sum up: Get into cover. Take aim. Say "Friendly". Then go with your gut feeling. Only drop him if he doesn't obey. -
No it's not worth it. Stay away. D'oh YES IT'S WORTH IT! :D Anyway, if buying the PC set you back so much you can't afford a game that you really like the sound of, then... Why did you buy the PC anyway?

For some reason I never get tired of mentioning this. :D For those who get really annoyed by KOS'ers, the one thing that could change it, was if zombie spawning was changed completely, letting players take entire towns, or areas of a town and then defend it, without fear of new zombies spawning inside (zeds could still spawn outside, however, and naturally gravitate towards their food source). Now, it wouldn't make KOS'ing go away. It would simply make a much more natural and beleivable place for it in the game. People would probably still complain about being KOS'ed, but now at least they would know that whoever shot them was probably defending an important position, instead of just shooting for kicks. IMO KOS'ing isn't really legitimate. There is simply no rule against it. Yet it is still frowned upon by many players. Look up the word "legitimate" if you're wondering about its meaning. ;)

Yup, I did. (Of course) All legit at natural spawns and not in tents. Using an AS50 TWS, however... U mad? :D

2-3 month Day Z break, what is it like today?
kebman replied to Saul Weinstein's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
@OP: Why don't you just log in and find out for yourself? -
OK, let me moderate myself. If you're lugging around an AS50 TWS, then you are one hundred percent a cheater. Know it, and know that I'll cheer if you get banned for it. :) If you use such a weapon, you're aiding the hackers, and IMO that's just as bad. Oh, and congrats with the hero skin. Hope it works out for ya!

Look how cute! :D He's too dumb to understand.

This will greatly add to realism, and greatly diminish the gameplay. I'm more for it impacting the need for food and water consumption. Or, more vehicles has to be implemented. Already there are mechanics that doesn't let you sprint forever or only lets you sprint when you're rested. Otherwise, humans can in fact jog incredible distances. It's what we're made for.

For a long time I've only lone wolfed and gotten good at hiding my tracks, but recently I've gotten the pleasure of playing with some friends as fellow teammates. I seen a pattern emerge, though, and here it is: Friend moves in the open an gets shot I move tactically, and avenge my friend While I do feel intense pleasure for avenging my friend, I also feel it is very unnecessary. Things my friends do (or rather do not do): Moving right in the open, and not in concealment or cover Not scanning the horizon or the perimeter Opening fire without thinking Being oblivious to weird zombie activity There are of course things the bandits do as well, but I don't feel much like helping them... ;)

A few observations about teammates and bandits
kebman replied to kebman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Damn, you're right! Come to think of it, I am pretty awesome. Thank you for reminding me! :beans: *Watching myself in the mirror* -
Hackers destroy the game, plain and simple. What should be a pure experience of trying to survive becomes... nothing when you get access to all the gear, when you can teleport around, and all that's left to do is really greaf other players. It's just sad.

People complaining because they play stupid.
kebman replied to Zoop's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Glad you're not the mod, Pendragon! :D Zoop: A valid on-topic observation. Usually, when people find themselves complaining and trying to dictated how others should play the game, it's a sign that they are either unable to adapt, or are simply unskilled at the game. However, sniping fresh and unarmed spawns is a dick move anywhere. Though in the big city, if someone gets the jump on me, I'll shoot first and ask questions later. Also, when in an enclosed space, I'll usually warn people of coming in. If they still come in, they can expect to get shot no matter their armament. -
A short and satisfying revenge story...

make pencil and notes available in loot piles
kebman replied to wet_willt's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Awesome! We could find authors sitting down and writing, and then kill them! :D Also we'd be able to read their unfinished works. -
Huge shopping mall with underground parking
kebman replied to markusfix's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yep. It's the military tent camps in Stary Sobor and Berezino, and the M.A.S.H. in Cherno. As for malls, have anyone of you seen the tube stations in Moscow? -
Nice! Will he add deers as well? Nothing like going deer hunting with a bow... I've heard! Also, what's with all the "Deer Stands" and no deers? Also, what's with all the driving, and nobody crashing into a deer? I like deers, ok?

Winter: Just hope they will do it justice. Love from Norway.

I'd leave drawings of erect penises on the loo. And Kilroy was here in the barn. -
Am I the only one who kind of like the idea of Half-Life type soldiers coming in to "clean things up" for no reason?
-
Yes it can! :) But not an AS50 AWS (i.e. with thermal sights). Those can only be hacked into the game.
-
Yesway! I'm just as dumbfounded as you. It's... It's incredible!
