  1. Tried to help an unarmed once. He had a lot of Z's after him. I only had a hatchet, and hacked away at them, one by one. We talked a little, but he didn't hear, so he came closer. I was busy hacking away at Z, so the conversation went like this: Me: Dude... Dude: Yes? *moving closer* Me: I... Dude: What? *moving closer* Me: Dude, you... Dude: What? *Moving closer* Me: You shouldn't... Dude: Shouldn't what? *moving closer* At this point he moves into my line of hacking, gets one in the face and dies instantly. Me: You shouldn't get in the way, lest you'll die of an axe in your face... Ya moron!
  2. You're a coward. Shooting a person in the back is being a coward and the lowest of the low. :) No hard feeling, but those are the facts. Real bandits have a sense of honour. I might shoot someone down for his beans, but at least I give him the courtesy of seeing my face when I do it.

Where do you draw the line?

Shooting someone in the back is cowardly. If you do, you're a coward. Especially if you greet the guy as "Friendly" first. Shooting unarmed players is being a dick. Then you're a dick. It's not funny. It's just being a dick, and if somebody grabs your nick and hunt you down, then you deserve it. Shooting players just armed with a hatchet is also pretty dick, unless he's right in front of you. However, stopping an unarmed dude and demanding he give up his beans is being a real bandit. Then you should take pride. And if you stop an armed fellow, and demand that he give up his weapons, then you're a frigging hero.
  4. I don't trust anybody. That being said, shooting someone in the back is the worst of the worst. I don't care how many murders you've got on your head. If you shoot somebody in the back, you're on my shitlist.

    Suggestion: Radio's

What is the gain of this, when everyone is either on Ventrillo, Skype or Mumble anyway? What could it be used for in the game? I don't know the answer, but I have some ideas: Meeting up with other players with radio for the purpose of cooperation. Meeting up with other players with radio for the purpose of ambush. Gathering intel. I'm not sure how intel is going to affect this game, with all the outside help in maps and such, though. Maybe if more random events are installed? Travelling hunting-packs of zombies? Automated weather forecast??? More ideas? If there is no real advantage from having a radio, then I see no point in spawning them. As to the spawning rate if there ARE advantages with radios, then the spawning rate should be decided by exactly how advantageous the advantage is. :P That is, if it's very advantageous, then it should be spawned less frequently, and if it's less advantageous, it could probably be spawned more often.
  6. I really want more stuff or actions that promote cooperation. So far I only know about the blood packs. It can only be administered by another survivor. I think maybe doing so adds humanity as well, which is good no matter if it shows or not (I think it's better that humanity is a hidden feature). I'd also like to see a similar solution for trade, making trade or charity something that gives you added humanity points, or possibly some other bonus. After all, despite having all kinds of dangers around us - like wild beasts, wolves, and the like - human kind has survived and thrived around the globe. I think the reason is that we found better ways to survive than killing each other on sight. Ahem, no matter how exciting it is to kill bandits... Oh yeah, and why not a bonus system for acting as sheriffs? I know many players do take on that role, and I very much appreciate it.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

Banning because of Alt+F4? That's exceptionally harsh. Why not ban the bandits? :D After all, they're the one's who force people into a position where Alt+F4 is the only solution to survive. OK, I guess not. :) But at least cut the guys being ambushed some slack. After all it's very hard to get gear in this game, and having to start all over because of some douche is frustrating at best. Otherwise I'm completely for banning hackers and cheaters. However, many paid money for the single reason of having access to this game, so whenever a ban is effected, there should be a very good reason - something more important than some douche bandit being irritated that he didn't get a kill.
  8. DayZ won't start (ARMAII+OA through Steam on Windows 7 Enterprise v6.1 SE1) because of an error in X3DAudio1_6.dll when I try to start it outside Steam, or through SixLauncher. I got this problem after trying to update DayZ to the latest version. It worked fine before. Here is the full error message: Strangely the game still runs when started through Steam, but I can't access any of the updated servers anyway, since they are all crossed out with a red X. I can join servers with old versions, but then I still don't get to play - and frankly I see no point playing the old version. Also there are nearly no players on those severs, so I want to play the updated version. I've tried this: Downloading a fresh version of DirectX and re-installing. Result: It claimed I'm up to date. Same problem persists. Tried using different X3DAudio1_6 DLL's. Result: Same problem persists. Tried deleting DayZ and re-installing it fresh, both trough SixUpdater and manually. Result: Same problem persists. Tried deleting local Steam files for both Arma II and OA, and re-installing (took forever to DL). Ran CO once first, and reinstalled DayZ again. Result: Same problem persists. Any idea what to do now? (Edit reason: More detailed description)
  9. Tried it. I'm sorry, it didn't work either... When I try to start DayZ through SixLauncher, I get the same DLL-error as before. The game does run through steam, though, but all updated servers are crossed out with a red X and impossible to join. EDIT: Ran this tutorial: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/36328-updating-beta-patch-fix/ Seems to be working so far. YAY! :D
  10. It says DirecX 9 is up to date. Also I've tried running the games as administrator, and with compatability check. Still got the same problem. [FIXED]I've found some new oddities, though. Seem to be missing some files, tho. Can't run regular Arma missions, and when running Showcase 1: US Army, all US Army vehicles are missing - except the A10 for some reason... But when validating the installs through steam, it says everything is fine. *pulling hairs out of my head* [/FIXED] FIX: Disable DayZ and you can play regular Arma 2 just fine. Only weird thing is that I could play regular Arma 2 just fine with DayZ enabled before... Validating one more time with the new (but still failing) settings, just to make sure.
