And there I was, trying to kill a freshly spawned unarmed noob with my M107... Trololo! But srsly, yeah, haven't seen many of them on the Scan-servers, and hope it'll stay that way. Knock wood!

Not a good idea. Why? Because it will hurt the ones dieing the most, that is, the noobs who don't know how to stay away from Sniper Alley above Elektro, and similar such places. The griefer snipers are the ones who would be least affected, since they only bring death, but don't suffer it so much themselves. Clearly, griefers should be nerfed in some way, but making an already rampant problem an even bigger one is not the solution. -

Zub. It's mah home. Got three tents up there. Every now and then a bandit comes by, and I can re-stock mah tents. Yeauph! Only thing I miss from the ol' world is dah internetz and chicks. Where did owl the chicks go? Wait! Imma make some moonshine!

It's not really "permadeath", is it? You don't die permanently. The only thing that happens, is that you respawn with no equipment at the beach. That is the whole reason why KOS is a factor in the game at all. Were the stakes higher, you'd see much more cooperation, especially between groups, because... If you kill one of my group, I'll kill one of your group. The only thing resembling permadeath in this game, is really the global ban for hackers. They're the ones who enjoy the true thrill of this game (at the cost of honest players, of course, and thus I'm of course for banning their asses). -

I've said it many times before... Starting without a gun is one of the things I love the most about DayZ. It makes the game so much more challenging and enjoyable. Also, it kinda says to you that you'd better take this game serious, or you'll have to start again without anything. So to sum up, I do not think there should be an option to start with your old gear. That would ruin the whole point, and seriousnes, of dieing. -
I usually log my adventures on DayZ. Don't ask! Anyway, here's a log that might be helpful for you people who want to look out for signs of hacking on your server. I only log on to servers that show kill messages and such as it makes me feel a little bit safer. Here's what happened when I played just a few minutes ago. 14:29 Logging on to SE ... something... 14:30 Past the lobby. 14:32 Still logging on... 14:35 WTF? Switching to NL21 14:36 Past the lobby 14:39 Hm... 14:41 FUCK! Switching to SE #00 14:42 Past the lobby. 14:46 YESSSS! Finally logged in. 15:32 got some food at farm. Heading for some residentials. 15:38 stops in a tree line in front of a field to see if it's safe to cross. Another player logs on, but it's quickly followed by a wad of strange error messages. I consider logging off, but then again, I'm out nowhere, so how can it hurt? 15:40 I hunker down to reload and rummage trough my gear. People die at a steady pace, but I consider it normal. 15:59 GREAT! A hacker teleports me to the sea and I immediately die... I was far inland. I see kill messages for all the players on the server... So, hacker, what was fun about that? Feel good about yourself? Hey, so long it kept you from killing someone IRL, I guess... Fucking loser! So, if you see a player log on followed by a wad of strange error messages, just log off and switch to another server. It's sure what I should have done... *grumble, grumble*

Easy: Get the respawn button but, only have a time out on respawns for like ten minutes, so that people don't respawn all the time to get a better position.

You're lucky. Normally I have to both reload and cock it. And one time, it seriously didn't work without a battery! But srslslsy, it's a known bug due to the fact how the weapon system work in Arma II.

Never spawned on an island. Would be cool if there were ferries, bridges or shallow part. Not so cool if you have to loose your gear to get to the mainland...

Why would I bother answering a poll where the 1) the concepts aren't explained, 2) the concepts are wrong. QEQE = waggle .... I THINK. In any case "everybody" knows you should either say "Friendly" or salute. Shoot on sight = KOS = KILL on sight Those things are important to get right, or else you get confusion, and when you get confusion, the poll get's wrong answers, and when a poll gets wrong answers, the poll is useless. Please try again. :facepalm: In either case, I'm against a "bandit skin", and I'm sad to hear it'll come back. -
What would you like to see in the stand alone?

I for one would hate the idea of zombies spawning all over the place, though I'm highly for hordes or packs patrolling a road, or a pack that goes hunting. Better in door dynamics. Z going through doors, literally, isn't cool. But Z either opening them, or breaking in would be extremely cool. Limited ability to build forts or safe havens. I say "limited" because you wouldn't want too many of these. -
I hear people saying "NO" to this. Well, you people wouldn't have to play this mode, as it's optional. Some of you say, "It would be boring". Well, just don't play the mode, then. For all the others, it would be a boon - especially for noobs wanting to get to know mechanics before leaving the game because the learning curve is too steep.

Funny thing. Once I started bandit hunting I suddenly came over many more tents. On one server I found six tents in a row, all nicely spread apart like they tried to hide something. Well, whoever did it failed.

IMO a class system will defeat the purpose of the game. You invent your own class by playing. I wouldn't mind slowly racking up experience in heavy use of a certain item, though, or playing the game a certain way - but on the other hand, it would produce weaknesses, and skew the game... So it might actually also be a bad idea.

It would be cool to eat raw meat. After all, it's possible IRl. However, it is harder to swallow and you can contract diseases much easier. Eat the wrong kind of raw meat, and you'll die. I suggest the following: You can eat raw meat, but it'd doesn't give you anywhere near as much blood back as with cooked or canned meat. Eating raw meat carries a substantial risk of infection. I suggest more than 50%. With meds it is of course curable, but eating raw meat should always be a last resort.

Yeah, he does. It's simple psychology. By making X an obvious choice, and Y a harder choice, people tend to do X more often than Y. By adding and subtracting features, he makes stuff easier or more difficult to do. You, being a pawn, will always choose the easiest one. Bottom line, you only have the feeling of real choice, and I can understand full well how that makes you want to live in denial. -
I too have a hope based strategy towards BattleEye. Or is it possible to call anyone? Maybe meet up in person?

I've had a rough day at the coast. Yet finally I find a hatchet and head inland. I walk along the treeline, and not far ahead I spot a deer tower. "Perfect!" I think, and head on over. But suddenly I see movement, so I immediately dive down and go prone. Somebody just went up into the tower. He was armed with what seemed like a shotgun. "Hm" I think to myself, and then I run right over and say hello, knowing full well that the dude would be prevented from shooting over the side of the tower. *Evil laughter* Kebman: Hi! :D How's it going? Henrik: Hey Kebman: Find anything? Henrik: Nothing much. Kebman: Too bad. :( ... Henrik: Can you please move away from the tower while I exit? Kebman: Why? Henrik: Don't really trust a guy with a hatchet under the tower. Kebman: Yes... I can see how that's a problem. ... Henrik: So are we playing the waiting game, are we? Kebman: I guess so. But while we wait, where you from? Henrik: Norway! Kebman: Oh cool, me too! :D But from where in the country? Henrik: Hønefoss. But listen, you wouldn't kill a fellow countryman, would you? Kebman: Oslo. No, you're right. I'm not that bad. :) This is your lucky day, I guess. Thus I happily run away. The next thing I hear is "BOOM", and the next thing I see is "You are dead". So much for being a dick.
