  1. I agree. Alt+F4 should be a valid play style. I think it is stupid to punish trying to save oneself, or giving out bans for it. That's just too harsh. However, it's very easy to fix. Simply have an Alt+F4 timer and leave the soulless survivor in the game for a few seconds or minutes after the player has quit. The pursuers hunting him would then have a fair chance of shooting him dead, and when he dies, he leaves a corpse for looting. As we all know, it does of course take much longer for the corpse to disappear. Doing that isn't punishment per se, rather it promotes being in safety before logging out.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

Your post about thermal vision has made me re-consider my view upon it. I'm now for thermal. Thank you! I'm still against NVG as it is implemented now. I'm only for NVG in bino-mode.

Why are so many 'Bronies' into DayZ?

Hillarious thread, guys! :D Thank you! :beans:

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

IMO: NVG: Remove it, or at least nerf it with either batteries, or make them work only in "bino" mode Thermal: Remove it completely. It's just unfair and takes the edge away - although it's quite fun to try Headlamps: Yes, please implement! Flashlights: Fix flailing while running, also make them possible to use while holding a gun (possibly with slightly worsened aim) Having NVG's work only in bino-mode would actually help cooperative groups, as you could have a spotter with you, and then the rest would have to rely on him. Otherwise, it would be ineffective for anything else than careful scouting at night. This is far better and more challenging then the kind of boring God Mode you get by permanent NVG's at night. I'm really against batteries of any kind. It only makes gameplay frustrating. The life of flashlights and headlamps has only grown and grown with the advent of tech such as LED, and so on. I think it's better for gameplay to assume that they just work forever, or at least until the next time you find a similar battery-powered item. In any case, flashlights would have to be used sparingly given the nature of this game, thus lengthening battery-time. Also, in with NVG's in bino-mode, also the NVG would be used more sparingly, only when it's time to scout or spot. However I would love for flashlights to have a kind of blinding effect (though much less than in BF3). I don't think it has ATM. At least up close and at night/in doors.
  5. While you do provide valuable info, berrating the OP for trying his best is just being an asshole. Please be nicer in the future - or I'll hunt you down in-game and park an axe in your head. :murder:

    Feign Death

Feigning death: See other dead survivor, or even the corpse of a Zed. Spot other bandit coming towards you. Quickly hide go prone over the corpse and don't move a muscle. Bandit won't see you until it's too late. :murder:
  7. Crawl to the closest place with a hospital. Or hope that a medic will enter your server.

    What should i do?

Play on another server. Repeat process. When FR 396 comes online again, go back and enjoy your chipmunked equipment. Might it have been taken off the main hive?

Afraid to die - are you?

Yes, but only when I have really rare gear. Less so if I've decked out a tent, or I've just spawned.

    Anyone in cherno?

    Sounds legit!
  11. Wow, wouldn't you know I did the same thing, only the person that came killed me on sight.

    Kill Camera

Well, I'd certainly rise up, look around a bit, and then walk into the light. Edit: Provided I didn't do any banditry...

    Fishing. food/supplies.

Yes! Omega 3 is a staple dieatery need, and fish is full of it. Also, I'd like The Thing to stalk at least one of the ponds!
  15. Yay! Hardcore griefers would have to scratch down their own tallies. Still the effect would only be positive, as it takes away a clear incentive for needless killing. It won't stop the KOS completely - which is good - but it will take away an important encouraging factor, and thus even the odds.
  16. I like tier 1 and tier 4. Tier 1 would let you connect with local players Tier 4 would let you build a radio station The rest is fixed by Mumble and Skype and would only be a feature for hardcore role players.
  17. So I found a car. Yay! It was just sitting there next to a gas station. One of those perverted blue Samba Buses, you know, the S1203. Doesn't need much work either; just an engine, some fuel and four wheels. :D OK, I guess that's kind of a lot, actually... Anyway, so I head to the nearest factory and loot it. It doesn't take long until I've found my first item. At the same moment I notice someone driving outside, so I take a peek out a window, and wouldn't you know... It's that very same blue car zooming past the factory. D'oh...

    Kewl story, Ampoliros! :beans:

    Why I help unarmed players

Well, consider this. By killing someone for their gear, you're destroying hours of work. It's akin to smashing down the wood brick tower, or the card tower, of a little kid. If you do it, you're an asshole. By killing a fresh spawn, he'll only have to respawn in a minute or two, except he'll have to use more time to get to his intended goal. The one thing can take HOURS. The other, minutes. Now, robbing someone. It takes balls, and it would be way cooler. Sadly it's too difficult due to Alt+F4...
  20. Hahaha, never heard of a kidnapping in DayZ before, but I guess there has to be a first for everything! :beans:

    Make the nights brighter!!!

I'm from North-Norway... I like being out in the dark. Reason: It's exciting. I was affraid of the dark when I was young, so it became kind of a challenge. But after a while of even extreme darkness, the eyes adjust and you see a lot more. A lot more than in this game, that's for sure!

    Why I help unarmed players

Hate to break it to you, but that makes you an asshole. We could start a poll if you need further convincing.
  23. "You name it, we have everything. If we don't have it, you don't want it!" Kewl! :D Oh, sorry for putting words in your mouth, but that's just what you should've said.
  24. So I just realized something. On the one hand we have griefers above Elektro shooting unarmed survivors just because they: 1) cheated so they got ghillie and .50 cal 2) complain about being bored, those poor, poor fellas On the other hand we've got the survivor whining about coward snipers shooting him from 1 kilometre away. I call this a "level 1 survivor" and a "level 1 griefer" (I am reluctant to call those bastards "bandits", as that would denote a certain kind of honour) But then we have the level 2 survivor, who really doesn't give a rats ass about griefers, because all he needs is a hatchet, and then he can just head up into the tree line with it, and park it in the head of a griefer. The level 1 griefer does not have much of a defence against such a tac, because he's just an unskilled cheater looking down his noob tube, and thus not really minding his close environment a whole lot. Also chances are good that he's laying prone right in the open, having no need to find good cover as he can just cheat up more weapons if and when he does get killed. You won't hear a level 2 survivor complain about griefers. Rather, He probably enjoys the fact that they exist. Again, we have the level 1 survivor complaining about being killed in Cherno or Elektro, while the Level 2 survivor doesn't think it's a problem at all, since he only goes there when he's fully geared up and ready to kick ass, or because he's simply after a harder challenge. This is what's called "Leveling up in DayZ".
