  1. Craftable armour would be nice, but altogether all kind of small things that can make your character a bit more unique. Scarfs, knee/elbow pads, masks, hats, glasses, coats etc. Thematic ones, like mentioned: protection suits (biohazard), vests and so on. I loved Fallout 3 + NV for hundreds of different armours and clothing (after modding ofc) that "made" the character to look "proper" in that environment. http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/711/2eff.png http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/1880/01nk.png
  2. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/146536-can-i-run-dayz-post-here/ There you can also ask settings based on your system specs. Arma 2 is a bugger in a sense it's hard for a layman to determine where's the sweet balance, as it might stress either CPU or GPU too much when settings aren't "balanced".
  3. - Crashed ships at shores / some distance from beachline (islets, rocks, could require swimming or boat to reach it)... shipwrecks after storms? - Small NPC group travelling from a to b (refugees/survivors/"vip" person + escort mercenaries) with different level of gear - I also liked the idea of military supply drops (intentional = contested evacuation points or unintentional = random)
  4. http://imgur.com/5ezHgnh Does this mean a) that's what we are aiming for or b ) it's finally implemented and this is how it works?
  5. ...And it was only meant to show footage from the multiplayer test...
  6. I wonder if there's going to be a own key dedicated for melee attacks, or if it is going to be an alternative "fire mode" you can select with "f" button (semi/burst/melee)... stabbing with bayonet should also have greater reach than hitting with a rifle stock. I would like to see everything slowed down like 30 %, as in current modes everyone moves so fast it looks a bit glitchy. However I think this will be handled when they manage to fix that "bubble" thingie (I recall Rocket mentioning that if it succeeds, there can be more zombies which are slower).
  7. I think that's a server issue and not caused by the latest patch. Amount of simultaneous helicrash sites etc are limited as far as I know it, but my friend's private hive server (still using previous version) had same issue of every possible crash site being filled with heli's. Restarting the server seemed to fix the issue, but if he did something to files/settings I'm not aware of it.
  8. I dont see any reason why there should be .50 cal anti-materiel rifles in the game after this, even if it had a "cool" sound. You can go to Arma2 armory range and shoot as much as you like it. If something, more civilian (*note: excluding U.S civilian weapon standards*) used weapons should be preferred.
  9. I surely do hope that most of the stuff was "in-progress, crude as hell but you guys wanted to see something!" level, because there should be expectations when it comes to AI... the core problem - zombies - havent been addressed so far in a sense they would offer any visible improvement from mod. Poor hit detection, lightning fast short sprints which makes aiming really hard makes DZ zombies hard technically, not because of their "undead" nature.
  10. You have good points. End game content is non-existant and drives bored people to the coast sniping n00bs. In my opinion this game needs to offer harsh PVE environment in order to support "good" PVP. With that I mean killing because of food/antibiotics. Why not, people would do that. Stealing a vehicle, that'll do. Raiding hideout, justifiable. It's killing people randomly with "because I can" attitude what drives this pvp to the bottom at rapid speed. Some servers seem to be dedicated to "armed-to-the-teeth in minutes" style and off you go fighting against other players. That's a huge leap from original purpose. I can't stand seeing DayZ being treated just as a normal deathmatch game. And when those pvp maniacs start screaming how their loveable "CoD with beans" is suddenly harder, I can't stand that either.
  11. The core problem of DayZ has been the fact that it tries to do something original engine wasn't meant to do. Melee. Zombies used to spread out and zig-zag towards you like soldiers. Pathfinding is limited to following players' steps. They need to be fast in order to perform any threat to players, and it causes clitchyness like warping, poor hit detection etc. If they would be really slow they wouldnt be any harder obstacle than a fence. Maybe it's just me thinking but since CoD kids appeared to DayZ the standards of players and community came down like an avalanche from Mt. Everest. THIS. ISN'T. COD. WITH. BEANS. This is surprising - it seems to be really impossible task for so many people nowadays to play regular Arma2/3 in multiplayer. Why they have to contaminate everything they try and force every game or mod into the same arcade mold? If you recognize these features from yourself, congrats, take an energy drink. "This added pve content seriously disturbs my n00b shooting sessions" "BWAAAAHHHH WHEREZ MY .50 CAL WEAPONS BWAAAHHHH" "Removal of thermal vision guns forced me to quit DZ" "Why there are zombies when there are players to be killed" "I hate eating/drinking, remove it, game is too hard" "everything is too hard, fix it" "ADD BAZOOKA TO THE GAME" "1.7.7 server now with 750 vehicles, everyone spawns with sniper, +1000 % more antibiotics, regular pvp contests + ATV races"
  12. Ahahahah... this is the best patch EVER if it really gives a reason why bandit sc*ms kill people. You see, majority of the time they kill you just because they can. "I need ur antbiodz" is 1000% better than usual "L2P n00B sucker".
  13. What if weapons can be found in parts and you can combine different stocks/barrels as well as scopes/lights... removing stock or adding foldable stock would enhance moving indoors but maybe make recoil harder to manage if firing in automatic fire mode. Dunno how much AK models differ structurally though.
  14. I prefer simple and easy-to-use inventory over fancy super graphasmic ones... Dunno how some people seem to prefer vanilla Arma 2 inventory system over this one. When it comes to SA nights, I would be more than happy to see pitch black nights IF we could use flashlights, torches etc equipped with our guns/melee. It's clumsy in DayZ mod as only option is to use chemlights (weapon attached lights have never worked when I have tested them).
  15. "This is how you gather tree for campfire. Follow me... now walk to that tree, open inventory menu, click 'harvest wood..." *sound of axe hitting to my head* "And it's important to avoid turning your back to players who you don't know. Cheers."
  16. Finally someone mentioned this aspect. This is, after all, a developers view of apocalyptic situation which you voluntarily buy and play. Arma can more or less be seen as infantry simulation, DayZ is a survival simulation. Let's list some "anti-games"... DayZ, Project Zomboid, Dwarf Fortress. Your task is to survive as long as possible in a tough environment. It's not babysitting the player. It requires certain type of player in order for it to be enjoyable, hence...People who like CoD action play CoD. Dead island and Left for dead are arcade shooters with zombies, you might wanna try that. Normal arma multiplayer doesnt limit high tech weaponry, go to play that also. I'm all for removing thermal vision (first goal achieved) and .50 cal snipers (going to be second I hope), and adding some basic pistols and rifles instead. Heck, I would even like to see a skill system for using more "developed" weapons and different types of guns altogether.
  17. Pfff, BAPBAP would just love having a set of good, old fashioned thermal vision and effective gun to one-shot noobs at coast. I remember your rage posts when thermal vision guns were removed. Only that excuse now is existense of combat loggers, lol. And just to point out... AS50 is an anti-material rifle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-materiel_rifle I have wondered why there have been anti-vehicle weapon of this scale in the first place as people tend to misuse these happily.
  18. Gasp, is it finally true... removal of camper f*g gear number uno, AS50... and M107 to boot! Prepare for a horde of crying bandits! Ahahahahahahahaha... oh god it hurts to laugh. Prized possession indeed... I have seen more AS50's equipped by players than any other weapon.
  19. @Drbane: Apparently you didnt read my post at all. I'm all for pve element, as in general this level of pvp is so annoying nowadays. It was completely different when DayZ was first released.
  20. PvE is also an integral part of DayZ, it's what makes the game so unique. Taking it away by adding "This-is-CoD-but-with-beans" players is like taking half the game away. It's like commenting about server with "Kill all Kill all Kill all immediately you get AS50 as starting gear" mentality. Let all flowers bloom.
  21. PVP = person has played DayZ for a while and now has biggest packback + some good gear... he wonders "hmm, what to do next?" and few mins later he's camping at coast, sniping other persons. He hasn't got a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g else to do, apparently. Suddenly DayZ is CoD with beans, a funzone where it's fun to gank other players. L4D + Dead Island series are for you if you are not up to the challenge. DayZ is supposed to be hard, although "hard" is usually limited by faults in engine (superfast, warping zombies). I have played Project Zomboid a while and I agree with leviski, there the zombie threat has been made properly. Character might panic if zombie appears suddenly, not to speak about spotting larger hordes... mood, mental + physical health, sleepyness etc affect to awareness and combat skills and so on which makes it exciting.
  22. How come I haven't seen any bandit player whine about this?
  23. I crawled 45 minutes with broken leg (zombie, players didnt necessarely shoot everything moving back then) during the second time I played DayZ. I had no map and no clue where to find a hospital but friend told Cherno has one and I had left it some time ago so... ended up dying to a "crawl-through-a-doorway" bug 50m from the hospital.
  24. http://www.dayzwiki....eapons#Shotguns Also Saiga (standard weapon in Namalsk map, also found in private hive Chernarus servers) http://dayzdb.com/database/saiga-12k
  25. I think Arma3 crosshair is better than Arma2's because it doesnt show the actual bullet hit point, only area-where-it-might-land. But in my opinion ironsight is the only "crosshair" people should use, unless they enjoy shooting from the hip. Red orchestra 2, anyone? But no doubt, there'll be "veteran" and "rookie" server settings and everyone will be happy. In general it's fun to see people being in troubles without 3rd person crosshairs... "U r just lucky" comments makes me smile. No crosshair means A) harder to snipe, I would welcome own ironsight+scope views to scoped rifles though B ) playing by using 3rd person view takes a sec to switch into 1st person ironsight view C) aiming in general requires more skill.
