  1. I only use sixlauncher because that was the way I used to first start playing the game, so I just stuck with it.
  2. What ammo does the M4 CCO SD use? because if the gun is that rare, I don't think I have ever seen any ammo that I would have thought fit in to it.
  3. I noticed that there is a lot of American servers which are regular, a much higher percentage of US servers are regular compared to European ones. heh...

    MAKE NIGHT TIME MORE LIGHT

Only people that don't mind the night time are the people that get to play the game any hour of the day they want so they get the variation. I don't get to play this game until 7-8 at night, so it's pretty much dark whenever I can play the game. I get on a server which is completely pitch black and I just quit it until I find a server in the daylight because for me the pitch black is just not an enjoyable way to play the game EVERY time I play it. I forget what the game actually looks like in daylight. I don't care how realistic it is, at least some light would be nice. Obviously the insides of buildings will be pitch black save for windows emitting a bit of moon light, and the trees in the woods would block some light too. but save the realism here, make it playable for the masses rather than just making it nice for the people that can play it 24 hours a day. We're not all unemployed.
  5. would be ace to just reign fire onto the fire station in elektro, scare all the dumbies in there :>

    What was your first death?

I tried to climb down a ladder, I thought I was on the ladder so I started holding 'S' or 'down' to go down the ladder, but apparently I wasn't on the ladder, and I actually ran off the edge of the building, backwards, and fell to my death. Damn it.

    Bandits win

What a pointless post, stop spawning yourself in lootable areas and you won't get 'spawn' killed.
  10. this could be done via modding, I think it's more a case that the current inventory system is suffice and it's perhaps not worth the effort it would require to change it all when this is the sort of thing that will be more accessible for a stand-a-lone game.
  11. Maybe the player 'yawns' as if they just woke up, so they have like a waking up animation when you start, they stand up and stretch and yawn. So it's as if when you logged off you player was asleep and now you woke him up :P The animation would take 5 seconds or so, so if you do spawn in a stupid place or try to server hop the player can just stand and watch you stretching after a nice nap and then shoot you :P
  12. I made some suggestions earlier to do with players logging in, I didn't think of this. A bell would be a bit ridiculous, however maybe some kind of sound such as ruffling as if they was putting their backpack on etc would be more feasible, therefore a sound which is less definable, and less audible so that it's loud enough to hear someone spawn upstairs in the same building but not loud enough so that if you're running through the woods you hear someone spawn.
  13. Last night, for the first time I played this game with a friend. It was probably the most intense gaming experience I have ever taken part in, in total I got shot down to near death twice, I killed 7 people and I didn’t even get out of Elektro. However, a few things happened that although didn’t ruin the experience, they didn’t exactly help it either. First of all. I found an ATV in Kamyshovo. “GET IN!” I thought. It looked to be in working order, there was no damage, the wheels were still on it. So, I sit on it, thinking I could go pick up my friend who was stuck in Elektro, then head towards our other guy coming from Cherno. This is the first time I have driven an ATV (although I did once find one on top of a mountain that I sat on but it was stuck on a rock) and when I tried to go forwards, the ATV started driving vertically into the sky, then it flipped over on its side. Annnnnnnnnd… that was that. Either I am dumb and I somehow drove an ATV wrong (although I don’t care how wrong you ride an ATV in real life, you won’t defy gravity :P) or a bug caused it to flip over. It was now unusable. I had no way of flipping it over. I’m not saying these ATVs are feathers… but I’m pretty sure a single man could muster up the strength to force it back onto its wheels. So I propose a vehicle flipping mechanism, but within reason of course. I, along with the next 900,000 people don’t want to see one guy flip over an entire bus. Maybe a CIV car could be flipped with 2-3 guys and the ATV flipped by 1 guy. (please bear in mind I am basing this suggestion on the basis that I don’t think this is already in the game, if it is already there please inform me how I do it and forget this part of the thread). The second occurrence that struck me as bizarre… Me and my friend went into the Church in Elektro, shut the door and had a snoop around for some ammo etc. My friend was guarding the door, and I was at the back towards the alter picking up some .45 rounds for my M1911, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere I was downed, bleeding and in dire need of painkillers. The door was shut, the windows are stained glass (and high up anyway), there was no one else in the room, I didn’t hear a gunshot, but I had been shot. There isn’t really a suggestion here, but I just wanted to put this out there as to why this may have happened? The third thing, we was in the fire station. I had to take out 2 guys just to get in there, and even so I knew there was a guy at the top of the tower. So, we shut all the doors and headed towards the stairs. I go up the stairs and he’s waiting at the top of the stairs with his hatchet, perched over waiting to get a hit on the top of my head. His hatchet was no match for my AK-74. Upon killing that fool, I noticed he possessed an Alice backpack. So, I informed my mate and he proceeded to collect this backpack while I moved down to the bottom of the building to watch the doors and make sure no one can get in. Turns out, some guy spawned right next to my mate and he thought it was me (as in, my mate thought the newly spawned guy was me). He stood there for ages just watching my mate try and pick up a backpack (he’s new to the game) and the whole time I didn’t know he was there, and my mate thought it was me. So you can imagine my friends confusion when he started getting axed to death. Of course, I went up the stairs again and avenged his death (this actually counted as a bandit kill so I feel no remorse). It’s kind of disappointing that my friend finally had all the stuff we needed before heading out, but was then killed because some guy spawned between us both. I have two suggestions on how to prevent this sort of thing happening, well 3 actually but one of them is a suggestion in its own right. a ) When a player spawns into the level, there should be a pointer that they just spawned, not something saying “AXEBANDIT HAS SPAWNED IN FIRESTATION” but a visual aid, I’m not sure what exactly, maybe their name shows up with them for 3-5 seconds when they spawn (thus influencing people to log out in safe places) or maybe they spawn greyed out for a few seconds. b ) Don’t allow people to spawn inside buildings. (although I’m fairly sure this has been suggested in the past). When you think about it, in real life everyone looks different and people don’t magically spawn in from nowhere. So this is a unique problem to a game (this game, rather), unfortunately it is difficult to fix a game’s problem without adding a ‘non-realistic’ feature to counter it. The fourth suggestion is all about recognition. I would like to see some kind of system that shows other players in the world just how long your character has survived and what they have been through. Those nice clean civ clothes? Well, they should be getting blood stained. The character should be growing a beard, getting bruised, clothes being torn, bandages showing, mud around the bottom of their trousers from the storms. Imagine, seeing your character battered up after a long and rewarding play through? There is a reason in just about all movies the characters are always battered and bruised by the end, it adds authenticity. If I scramble away from being attacked and bleeding by a horde of zombies, I am not going to be in pristine condition. If this existed, players would be more likely to recognise their friends. Of course, finding a new set of clothing such as camo would clean up the character. I think that should just about do it for now. PS. The other guy I mentioned who was coming from Cherno, I asked “where are you anyway?” He replies… “Berezino”. He just ran across the entire map whilst me and the other guy where in Elektro lol. (TL;DR - Flipping vehicles, dying from a magic bullet, killed by a teleporting axe murderer and visible damage to character)
  14. Yeah I don't want it to be announced, but something subtle so you spawn and for a few seconds after you spawn, if another player aims at you your identity appears (like on regular servers) so they they know who you are, or, you spawn greyed out so players know you have literally just spawned so if your in a situation like what happened to me and my friend you will immediately know that is not the case.

Two ideas: skins and meleeing with guns.

+1 for weapon hitting But it can't be lethal, just enough to stop a zombie getting a clean shot on you, pushes them back so you can shoot etc.
  23. I killed a guy the other day, he entered the same building as I was already in, in Cherno with an AKM in his hands. Naturally I couldn’t risk him shooting first when we both had the same weapon but that’s not what this is about. This is more about what I found when I looked through his stuff, which was more than you would typically expect from someone running around Cherno such as this man was. I took 4 AKM mags, a compass, binoculars, matches, an M1911, raw meat, hunting knife and a map. So I ran out of Cherno into the woods, now possessing enough stuff to keep me going on the trip to the north side of the map, and with my newly found compass and map this would be a much easier task than last time. So, when I get into a wooded area I take a look at the map and I notice the markers this guy had placed were still on the map, I thought that was pretty cool actually. It really felt as if I had ‘stolen’ something that belongs to someone else, he had marked almost every shop on the map, all the good places to get loot, he had clearly put in a lot of time to this character and I had just taken it all from him, including the work he did on the map. Immediately, this served as an instant reminder that I didn’t just kill some pixels on my screen, I ended another person’s work. This got me thinking, maybe there should be some kind of journal each character has. This journal would automatically log information about the player; such as. How many zombies they have killed Who they have killed (a list of player names they have killed, this gives an idea of the sort of player you killed) Vaguely where they have been Number of times they have healed themselves Then it could also have an optional entry point where a player can write down their own notes. When you kill a person, this journal is automatically added to your character when you search through a dead players stuff, it wouldn’t eat into the inventory, there would be a short cut to get to a menu like ctrl+J or something, and it would then display all the journals you have. Only one journal would be generated per character, and when you die all journals will be lost apart from yours which will be available to the next person who comes across your body. Now usually, in most games where you can find logs and journals (Skyrim, Deus Ex etc) I am not at all interested, but I think this is the exact kind of environment where this sort of thing makes everything you do more personal, if you kill someone, you will be forever reminded that you killed that person – while I see an argument that it will give people one more reason to kill, as they will for some reason want to collect as many journals as they can, I don’t believe it would make much difference in most respects since finding a journal with information on it is obviously less useful than finding someone’s NVG’s. So they would have killed that person anyway. I'm not sure how difficult something like this would be to implement, but since most the information is already logged in the game anyway, I can't see it being too difficult? Although, this is Arma 2's engine... Well, that’s about all I have to say on the matter, to summarise, A journal which logs a players actions and notes, is then passed on to the murderer upon opening their gear, thus providing more personality to each player and making every players actions that little bit more personal, something that is surely welcomed in an environment such as DayZ. Open to thoughts and suggestions, let me know what you think!
  24. Well, I thought about that. When you think about it though, for some people who won't bother with writing stuff in a journal (bandits wouldn't, for example) I wanted something that was automatically logged in there so that you will always be able to get some kind of information. It would be realistic stats that if you was to have your own journal in such an environment, you would write down brief notes about what happened. It is feasible that a survivor would note down how many zombies they killed, and things they have found and encounters they had with other survivors. So my idea is based more around the game logging these entries automatically as if it was actually your character making the notes. Not all players will want to make notes about things, and for those who are interested in such things it would be boring for them to find a journal with no information about the other player in it. That's just how I see things.
  25. I've only ever found ammo in deer stands, and heatpacks. and empty cans.
