Request: Allow Bans for Death Dodgers
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to c.chris.perry@gmail.com's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes, I include it in my MOTD and the message that plays every 10 minutes for the first hour they are in the server. That if they disconnect death dodge, it's an immediate ban, and after this thread I will enforce it, as it seems the devs don't have an issue (I'd assume they'd come in here and say NO, and their absence of response sounds like a go for it to me). -
Extra features for Server Hosts
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to colonel_black's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Ya, but like 60 times haha so that it runs for ~10 hours. I guess I really don't need that much, because it shows it to individual players, so if it only advertises for the first hour it's probably fine. -
Extra features for Server Hosts
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to colonel_black's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Just added it to my server... Just made the interval 30s on the motd and then put 10 min breaks inbetween each message block. We'll see how it does. -

Okay, ya, that isn't part of this tool. Just a modification to use the MOTD in the standard server setup. Thanks though :) -

How do you set the MOTD thing up? Looking through their site and can't find a method. -

It depends what your definition of game breaking behavior is. It's most likely the same as mine and the majority' date=' but for Joe down the road he may take it to an extreme. I mean this Joe guy might think a survivor randomly shooting another survivor without any real reason is "game breaking", so he starts banning people left right and center. My point being that some people are nutty and just aren't in the realm of the sane so they need X Y Z outlined in thick writing. Granted, you could just go find another server but the devs have got a crap ton of server requests, so they can make us jump through hoops which is somewhat problematic at times. Anyway.. Rocket from the limited contact I've had seems to be a reasonable guy, so if you've got a good reason for banning someone, then I wouldn't be worried as he doesn't like bs. At the end of the day you can just unban them if Rocket really has a big issue with it and just don't do it again. They just don't want admins going rampant banning because someone killed them, and the problem is there are admins that have done that and still do that (a minority make it a pain for the majority). [/quote'] I was making a statement on the overall direction of this post, not my actual request. I don't want ambiguous things such as "game breaking behavior" being a rule, but rather that when a new ban reason is requested to look at it and decide how gamebreaking it really is. Apologies for the broad statement. -

You should be more verbose with your topic title. -
Patch + Servers = Starving
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to f4cksteam's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You just need to update your version... It's not a very hard fix. On your point about working releases every weekend, not hour, the hotfix was just that, a hotfix. Unexpected things happened with the original patch, and we were fortunate enough to have a dev that worked his ass off to get a fix out quickly so that we could enjoy a game that is in alpha (a point in development where honestly, there could be a patch every 30 minutes and it would be okay). -
Load-Out Classes for Team Play
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to CalUKGR's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A gps as a starting item? Seriously? I've found a total of THREE GPSs in my many, many, many, loot cycles at Stary. The GPS is way to powerful to be something you start with. -
Can we please remove the "_____ uses modified data file" messages?
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to robollama's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i would be wary of editing server files. rocket is (rightfully so) a bit testy about it Server owners are 100% allowed to edit the server config files (server name, difficulties, MOTD, etc), and this isn't even editing a file, it's a startup parameter passed to the server when you launch it. These aren't disallowed. -
No Vehicles spawning in any Virginia servers?
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to rifle313's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Maybe post this in the server section? I'm sure there is a thread for the Virginia servers. More like' date=' maybe [b']read the server section. There is a stickied post as to why there aren't vehicles. -
Remove some stuff that is ruining game play.
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to exetick's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
THIS IS A SURVIVAL SIM. YOU NEED TO MAINTAIN YOUR HEALTH TO SURVIVE. Regardless of how many people are complaining about it, it's a feature that makes sense within the scope of the game, and the people saying that having to actually put in effort to survive is bad, obviously don't understand the premise of the mod. -
Places to find military grade loot

As a bandit this made me laugh, because yes, I usually do have military grade loot on me. -

You don't want to struggle to survive? This is a sandbox survival sim. So I guess this is the wrong game for you. -

I walked into a single barn and found more wood than I could carry at the time, 3 stacks. You just need to look for it off the coast, the features aren't game breaking, you just don't know how to play the game. -
Would rather start with a compass and have no pistol
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to underpaidorphan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Perhaps a watch, which can be used as a compass (look it up, you can use it to determine direction), instead of a compass. -
Will not play 1.5.8 until these issues are addressed

Have fun not playing the game. It's an alpha, these things are all tests of features, not permanent things. -
Kicking of Players for Clan members
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I should expand on my car analogy a bit. You want to drive around, but the only way to do so is to buy a car from this one dealership. And if you decide to start using your car, which has all the features and specifications you want (Server settings, location, etc), when other people want to use it, the dealership repos your car. You are missing the point that everyone complaining about being kicked, is simply a user of our expensive machines. I currently respect the rules and vehemently refuse to kick anyone, because I respect that rocket has to make that decision. I sat there myself last night waiting for 10 minutes to get into my server after the update because we updated quickly, and everyone joined it. I could have easily kicked someone. The only reason I am still arguing in this thread is because I want reserve slots to be implemented in the future, and for some reasons, the non-paying users believe that someone paying for the hardware they play the game on, shouldn't be able to use that hardware if they are sitting in their slot. -
Good thing direct chat will be fixed soon and your issue with not being able to communicate will be gone.

Fire will increase it quickly, you need wood and matches for this. Running is supposed to increase it, but I haven't seen that work. Being outside in the daylight (not raining) should increase it. Many threads about this, look around first.

Action Menu problem.
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to tetsuninja's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
If you read the most recent patch notes, interacting with objects (Food, bandage, painkillers, etc) has been removed from the action menu, and now you must go into your inventory (G) and right click the object. Do some searching around the forums before posting here, this has been talked about a LOT. -
Unfortunately there is not. I am still working through it but it seems the distance that the Zombies react to a gunshot is based off a formula using various variables of the specific ammo you are using. (Not the weapon) ie. Distance = AudibleFire * 10 * Caliber In the case of the Winchester it is : 25*10*0.5 = 125 In the case of the CZ550 it is : 18*10*0.83 = 149.4 I am not 100% sure this is correct' date=' but I am fairly confident I am getting somewhere. [/quote'] Where can I find these variables, I'm willing to help dig up data.

Is there a server parameter I might be able to set? I found this: -noTexHeaders Use unknown. (does seem to prevent error messages like 'Failed to load TextureHeaderManager from file "ca\provinggrounds_pmc\texheaders.bin" - failed to open the file.' on linux dedicated server) from http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters -
